Chapter 113: Source of Abilities
The flames from the explosion surged out. Yu Xian, Yu Lie, and Xiao Cheng remained where they stood. Yu Lie formed a sword finger with his right hand [1]and chanted, "Wind Dragon, heed my summons! By urgent decree, obey my command!"
He pointed the sword finger forward, and his fingertips sent forth a violent gale toward the surging flames, forcing them all back into the factory. The flames knocked down many half-finished Perfect Lifeforms that were escaping the factory.
However, the half-finished Perfect Lifeforms on the upper levels were merely the appetizer. Not long after they fell, dozens of charred Perfect Lifeforms charged out of the flames. Upon seeing the three people blocking their path, one of them, covered in Aberrant Parasite tentacles all over, opened its mouth and spewed a torrent of searing, corrosive green fluid.
This time, all three of them sprang into action. Yu Lie reacted the fastest. A beam of golden light shot forth from his Heavenly Eye, slicing through the torrent of green fluid and scattering it to either side. Although the Perfect Lifeform that had spewed it managed to dodge the beam, the golden light severed many of its tentacles.
Xiao Cheng took out a staff and tapped it against the ground. Countless lines of light resembling electric circuits appeared across the floor. Every Perfect Lifeform that the lines struck immediately froze into a crawl.
Yu Xian attacked last, but his attack range was enormous, his accuracy frighteningly high, and his destructive power terrifying. The spatial bubbles hidden in the grooves of his fingerprints appeared one after another above each Perfect Lifeform. They then expanded, their interiors filling with chaos and distortion before crashing down, twisting every Perfect Lifeform into clouds of blood mist.
Just as they killed this batch of Perfect Lifeforms, a monster slowly walked out from the blazing flames. It had the head of a goat, the body of a bat, and octopus tentacles as its limbs.
It opened its mouth and drew in a deep breath, sucking in all the blood in the surrounding area. Then it bared its maw, lined with dense rows of teeth, and roared at the three of them.
Yu Lie warned. "Careful. It's Tiger rank!"
It was stronger than the earlier defective Perfect Lifeforms, which had been Wolf rank at best.
However, just as the three of them were about to attack, the floor exploded. A massive arm burst through the rubble and seized the Tiger-rank Perfect Lifeform. It struggled violently, striking the arm again and again, but could leave only a few shallow scratches. It was then dragged beneath the floor. A moment later, the sound of chewing echoed from below.
Both Yu Lie and Yu Xian were stunned. Yu Lie's Heavenly Eye had failed to detect the monster beneath the ground, while Yu Xian's scent model had revealed no trace of it either. Clearly, the creature possessed an exceptionally powerful stealth ability.
In the scent model inside Yu Xian's mind, there was no monster beneath them at all, only a mess of equipment and raging flames. There was not even a blank spot. He checked again and again, and his expression turned grave. "Director, that monster seems to be completely nonexistent on the sensory level."
Yu Lie's expression was equally grave. "They indeed managed to cobble together something extraordinary."
Before, he had not even taken out his weapon. But now, he drew the Thri-Point Double-Edged Spear from his spatial ring and gripped it tightly in his hand.
The large hole from where the monster had reached out was suddenly torn open. A creature resembling both a crocodile and a dinosaur crawled out from within, its cold vertical pupils sweeping over the three of them.
