Succubus World - Start with Incubus System

Chapter 91: A strange meeting

Meira glanced at Erik, the corners of her lips lifting ever so slightly.

He continued studying the map.

"This valley won’t be used only for growing cotton. I want to turn it into an outpost."

The room immediately grew quieter.

Erik traced a circle around the region on the map.

"This place has farmland, a road connecting it to Silver Moon, and potentially mineral deposits. If we can hold the valley, we can use it as a transit point in the future and continue expanding into the surrounding regions."

The captain responsible for defense slowly nodded.

"I understand."

Erik leaned back in his chair.

This was what he truly wanted.

Killing monsters and taking a piece of land meant nothing if they had to abandon it again a few days later. If they wanted to genuinely expand their territory, they needed residents, production, transportation, and a stable supply of resources. Only then could they use that foundation to push farther outward.

If every step they took could stand firm, the safe zone that had been steadily compressed by monsters might finally have a chance to expand again.

A Succubus scout opened a more detailed map and pointed north.

"There are three tunnels here. Two are almost completely blocked by collapsed earth and stone, but the remaining one can still be entered."

While she was explaining, Erik suddenly felt something brush against the little finger of his left hand. He paused slightly, but the hand beneath the table remained still. A moment later, another finger hooked around his.

Erik slowly turned his head.

Meira was still studying the map with an extremely serious expression, looking nothing like someone doing anything unusual. Beneath the table, however, her left hand had already closed around two of his fingers.

Erik watched her for several seconds.

Sensing his gaze, Meira discreetly glanced at him and gave the slightest nod.

Erik: "..."

He immediately understood what she wanted.

The pink pen was still in his coat pocket.

After breakfast the previous day, Erik had studied the device a little more and discovered that he could adjust the intensity of the signal transmitted through the connection. Meanwhile, Meira had shown a level of interest in the device that went far beyond what was necessary.

But using it in the middle of a meeting?

Erik raised an eyebrow slightly.

Meira hooked his fingers once more, making her meaning so obvious that words were unnecessary.

You asked for this.

Erik slowly took the pen from his pocket beneath the table.

When Meira saw the movement, one of her feet, which had been resting neatly beneath her chair, shifted slightly. Above the table, however, she calmly continued questioning the scout.

"Where is the tunnel that can still be used?"

The scout pointed at the map.

"Here."

Meira nodded.

Erik pressed the button.

Click.

Meira’s shoulders immediately jerked, and a faint sound involuntarily escaped her throat.

"Mmm..."

Because the room was so quiet, everyone heard it.

The captain sitting closest to her immediately looked over in concern.

"Lady Meira?"

Meira froze for a beat. A faint blush began spreading across her cheeks, but her expression remained unchanged. She cleared her throat softly and answered calmly.

"It’s nothing."

"Are you injured?"

"No. I used too much magic this morning, so my body is still feeling a little uncomfortable."

Everyone around the table immediately understood, and not one of them showed the slightest suspicion. After witnessing the morning’s battle, anyone would assume that using such terrifying power must have come at an enormous cost.

A Succubus promptly suggested, "Should we take a break?"

Meira shook her head.

"There’s no need. Continue."

Erik looked at her, the corners of his lips rising slightly.

The pen was only set to its lowest level, so naturally it posed no real difficulty for Meira.

She continued assigning tasks.

"Send two teams into the first tunnel tomorrow. Don’t get greedy for resources. Prioritize mapping the area and ensuring everyone’s safety."

"Yes."

"As for the defensive line, the eastern sector will need another..."

Erik slowly raised the intensity by one level.

Meira’s finger paused on the map. She had to take a small breath before she could finish her sentence.

"...two observation towers."

The captain nodded.

"I’ll see to it."

Meira glanced at Erik for an instant. A faint warning appeared in her green eyes, but he merely continued looking at the map as though he had nothing to do with any of this.

You were the one nodding earlier.

Meira hid her hand beneath the table and lightly kicked his leg.

Erik raised the intensity another level.

Meira’s body trembled more visibly, and the hand resting on the edge of the table tightened involuntarily. She had to pause for nearly two seconds before she could continue.

"The... the transit warehouse will be placed between the center of the valley and the main road."

The Succubus responsible for construction tilted her head slightly.

"Lady Meira, are you truly all right?"

Meira smiled with perfect composure, though the tips of her ears were now visibly red.

"I’m perfectly fine."

Erik had to turn his face away.

If he kept looking at her, he was afraid he might actually laugh.

The meeting continued as though nothing unusual were happening. For the next ten minutes, Meira reviewed the number of wounded, allocated food supplies, ordered a list of damaged equipment to be compiled, and set a three-day deadline for completing a preliminary resource map.

She did not allow the game beneath the table to influence any of her decisions. As time passed, however, the others in the room increasingly felt that something was strange about her condition. Her breathing had clearly quickened, her face was growing redder, and whenever she had to deliver a long sentence, she occasionally paused as though trying to steady her breath.

At last, one of the captains could no longer hold back.

"Lady Meira."

"Hmm?"

"Do you need a Healer to examine you?"

At the exact moment Meira turned toward her, Erik raised the intensity another level.

Her body immediately trembled, and her knees instinctively pressed together beneath the table. After several seconds, however, she still managed to keep her voice as normal as possible.

"No."

"But..."

"I simply consumed a little too much mana."

The captain looked at Meira’s flushed face and visibly heavier breathing, and her eyes immediately filled with emotion.

Lady Meira had saved the entire valley by herself. Her body was clearly exhausted to this extent, yet she was still forcing herself to remain and handle all the work.

The captain immediately bowed her head.

"Thank you, my lady."

Meira: "..."

Erik also fell silent.

The woman across from them continued solemnly, "We will certainly not disappoint you."

Meira barely managed to maintain a normal expression.

"...Mm."

Erik lowered his head, his shoulders trembling slightly.

Meira immediately glared at him, her gaze becoming even more dangerous.

More than half an hour later, all the major issues were finally resolved.

Meira set down the documents, her hand now trembling faintly.

"That will be all for now."

The Succubus immediately stood.

"Yes."

"I’ll submit the report tomorrow."

"Lady Meira should get some rest as soon as possible."

Meira forced herself to keep smiling.

"I know."

They quickly left the room one after another. Only after the last person had stepped outside did the door close.

Click.

The instant the room fell silent, Meira collapsed halfway across the table. Her golden hair spilled over the wooden surface while her shoulders continued trembling faintly.

Erik switched off the pen, and the sensation transmitted through the connection immediately vanished.

Meira took several deep breaths. It was a long while before she slowly turned her head and looked at him with slightly damp green eyes.

"Master..."

Erik raised an eyebrow.

"Hmm?"

"You’re mean."

"You were the one who told me to use it."

"I didn’t tell you to make it that strong."

"You never told me to stop either."

Meira fell silent.

She realized she had no way to argue with that.

Erik put the pen back into his pocket.

"Then we won’t use it again."

"No."

Meira immediately raised her head.

Erik looked at her.

Meira: "..."

Perhaps realizing that she had answered a little too quickly, she slowly lowered herself onto the table again and spoke in a quieter voice.

"What I mean is... we can still use it occasionally."

Erik laughed.

Meira’s face grew even redder.

"Don’t laugh."

"I’m not laughing."

"You clearly are."

"Mm."

"Master!"

Erik stood and reached out to support her by the waist.

"Can you stand?"

Meira tried to push herself upright, but the moment she put weight on her legs, they weakened. She immediately took advantage of the opportunity to fall into Erik’s arms and wrap both hands around his neck.

"No."

Erik held her waist.

"I can see that."

"Master has to take responsibility."

"I already turned it off."

"That isn’t enough."

Meira pulled his face down and kissed him.

The kiss was fairly slow at first, but the lingering effects of the device had left her body more sensitive than usual. The moment Erik placed a hand on her waist, she trembled faintly and her breathing quickly became uneven.

Meira held him tighter. It was a long while before they finally parted.

Her lips were redder than before, and her eyes no longer held any trace of the seriousness she had worn while presiding over the meeting.

Erik looked at her.

"Feeling better?"

Meira lightly licked her lips.

"No."

"Then rest."

"I don’t want to."

The corners of her lips slowly curved upward.

The moment Erik saw that familiar expression, he knew she had come up with another strange idea.

"Meira."

"Hmm?"

"What are you thinking?"

"Revenge."

Erik: "..."

Meira slowly lowered herself beneath the edge of the table. Her golden hair slipped from her shoulders and fell over her chest. She looked up at Erik from below, her green eyes still slightly damp but her smile filled with triumph as she placed both hands on his waistband.

"The little dog endured it for over half an hour."

Erik stared down at her in silence.

Meira’s smile grew even brighter.

"Now it’s Master’s turn."

She was just about to continue when—

Click.

The door suddenly opened.

"Lady Meira, we forgot—"

The two captains who had just entered froze simultaneously.

Erik was standing beside the table, while Meira was below him, her golden hair spilling over her knees and both hands still resting directly on his waistband.

The atmosphere in the room instantly froze.

The two captains stared at the scene before them, then looked away almost simultaneously.

Meira did not move.

Erik said nothing either.

At last, the woman on the left slowly stepped backward.

"We... didn’t see anything."

The other immediately nodded hard.

"Nothing at all."

BANG!

The door slammed shut, followed immediately by the sound of rapidly retreating footsteps outside.

Meira remained beneath the table without moving. Several seconds later, she slowly withdrew her hands from Erik and raised them to cover her face. Her elven ears had turned so red that no one needed to see her expression to know how mortified she was.

Erik looked down at her.

"Meira?"

She did not answer.

"Elemental Lord?"

Meira lowered her head even further.

Erik called again.

"Lady Meira?"

"Don’t say anything."

Erik’s shoulders began trembling as he struggled not to laugh.

Meira finally opened a tiny gap between her fingers and stared at him resentfully.

"Master."

"Hmm?"

She remained silent for several seconds before asking with utmost seriousness, "Would killing them to keep them quiet... be going too far?"

Erik: "..."

For once, he truly had no idea how to answer.
