Succubus World - Start with Incubus System

Chapter 90: A new plan

The Thunderbird immediately spread its wings and dived.

Thunder exploded so violently that even the ground shook, while blue-white light swallowed the entire valley almost at once. The Succubus below closed their eyes in unison, and some even had to cover their ears against the deafening blast as the smell of scorched metal rapidly filled the air.

BOOM—!

The roar lasted several seconds before gradually subsiding.

When everyone could finally open their eyes again, the monster as large as a hill was still standing where it had been. Yet no one had time to feel disappointed, because brilliant white lines had appeared across its entire body, spreading outward from its core, climbing along its neck, and racing down all six legs.

A crack appeared in its armor, followed by thousands more spreading at once.

RUMBLE!

The colossal body shattered into countless black fragments. Before the remaining pieces of armor could even strike the ground, the lingering lightning burned them to ash, while the reddish-purple core at the center vanished completely.

The entire valley fell silent.

Meira slowly descended while the clouds above had yet to disperse. Lightning still occasionally coursed behind her, creating a scene that was as beautiful as it was overwhelming, leaving almost none of the Succubus below daring to speak.

Before Meira could touch the ground, however, Elowen had already crossed the ruined defensive line.

As soon as the armored vehicle drew close enough to the outpost, she jumped out and used the currents of wind around her body to accelerate, quickly reaching the area with the highest concentration of wounded.

After taking one look at the situation, Elowen immediately knelt beside a Succubus suffering from severe blood loss.

"Don’t move anyone with abdominal wounds."

She placed one hand over the wound and slowly raised the other. Pale green currents of wind quickly spread through the surrounding area, far gentler than Meira’s storm and carrying the faint scent of grass and leaves.

This was the Life attribute within Elowen’s Wind energy.

Wherever the wind passed, smaller wounds began to close, while the bleeding from more serious injuries slowed. A trace of color gradually returned to the faces of the exhausted Succubus.

A woman lying on the ground, already close to losing consciousness, slowly opened her eyes and realized Elowen was holding her hand.

"Don’t fall asleep."

The woman’s lips moved faintly.

"I..."

"You’re still alive," Elowen said calmly as she continued maintaining the wind. "So don’t fall asleep."

The wounded woman stared at her for several seconds before slowly nodding.

A short while later, the armored vehicle finally crossed the last stretch of damaged road and entered the outpost. When it stopped, Erik opened the door, stepped out, and surveyed his surroundings.

The battle had ended sooner than he had expected.

Meira had practically wiped out the entire wave of monsters by herself, while Elowen was treating the wounded. With Erik’s current strength at Black Iron Stage 9, charging into the middle of the battlefield would not only have contributed little, but might also have forced the two women to divide their attention to protect him.

Instead of doing something pointless, he headed directly toward the wounded.

A female Succubus was struggling to stand, but the moment she placed weight on her leg, it buckled beneath her. Erik was nearby and immediately reached out to steady her by the arm.

"Easy."

The woman flinched.

"I..."

She turned to look at the person supporting her, then fell completely silent.

Erik frowned slightly.

"Where does it hurt?"

The Succubus continued staring at him without answering, her eyes slowly widening. The woman beside her, who had been bandaging her own arm, turned as well, followed by another. The atmosphere around the wounded gradually became strange.

At last, a very quiet voice spoke.

"A... a man?"

Erik turned his head and immediately discovered that more and more eyes were gathering on him.

He wore only simple combat trousers and a dark coat. He had no electric vehicle, and his body was neither obese nor frail like the men most of the Succubus here were accustomed to seeing. After undergoing several evolutions, Erik’s physique had become well proportioned. His broad shoulders and narrow waist remained obvious even beneath his coat, while his already handsome features had grown even sharper after he awakened the Primal Incubus bloodline.

The Succubus in this region were far too accustomed to seeing men cared for so thoroughly that they practically never needed to walk. Erik’s mere presence on a battlefield was strange enough, let alone the fact that his appearance was completely unlike anything they were used to.

The Succubus he was supporting finally came back to her senses.

"My... leg."

"Is it injured?"

"No." She swallowed and answered softly, "It just... feels a little weak."

Erik: "..."

He looked down at her leg and confirmed that she had no serious wounds, which only left him even more confused.

Then why the hell are your legs weak?

In the distance, Elowen had just finished treating a wounded Succubus when she raised her head and quickly noticed how many eyes were fixed on Erik.

She immediately stood and walked straight toward him. Without saying anything, she tightly embraced one of his arms and pressed her body close against him.

Erik looked down at her.

"Aren’t you going to continue treating them?"

"I’ve finished the first round."

"Then why are you holding me?"

Elowen answered as though it were perfectly natural.

"I’m tired."

Erik looked at the Succubus around them, then at the two hands locked tightly around his arm, and immediately understood.

"Mm."

Elowen looked a little more satisfied.

By then, Meira had also landed. As she walked across the battlefield, the Succubus who could still stand automatically moved aside to make way for her. Many watched her with unmistakable reverence, especially those who had witnessed the Thunderbird moments earlier.

Meira stopped beside Erik and turned toward the crowd.

"Listen for a moment."

The murmuring quickly faded.

"Today’s wave of monsters has been dealt with, but that doesn’t mean the danger is completely gone. We’ll inspect the entire valley, clear out any monsters that remain, and begin restoring the defensive line."

Everyone immediately listened with full attention.

Meira continued, "Anyone who wants to leave may do so. No one will force you to stay. But if you choose to remain, this old outpost will be expanded and rebuilt into the region’s first settlement."

At that point, she placed a hand on Erik’s shoulder.

"Once the cotton-growing region has been cleared, this man and I will oversee its reconstruction."

No one responded.

Meira paused and looked down at the crowd, only to discover that most of their attention remained fixed on Erik.

One nearby Succubus even blushed unconsciously when Erik glanced her way, failing to react despite the woman beside her nudging her several times.

Meira: "..."

Elowen immediately hugged Erik’s arm even tighter.

Meira cleared her throat softly.

"As I was saying, this region..."

Still, hardly anyone looked at her.

Meira glanced at Erik, then at the surrounding eyes that were nearly turning into hearts. In the end, she could only sigh.

"Never mind."

Erik turned slightly toward her.

"What?"

"Nothing." Meira smiled and swept her gaze across the crowd once more. "At least it seems stabilizing the population won’t be too difficult."

Erik: "..."

...

By early afternoon, most of the seriously wounded had been moved into a temporary treatment area, while the combat teams still fit to move had begun inspecting the regions surrounding the valley.

An old administrative building at the center of the outpost was cleared and converted into a meeting room. The room was not large, and the long table in the middle was old, with several corners cracked from years without maintenance. A map of the cotton-growing region hung on the wall alongside the old routes leading back to Silver Moon.

Besides Erik and Meira, six other Succubus sat around the table. One was responsible for defense, two belonged to the logistics and construction teams, one had formerly managed the agricultural area, while the final two were in charge of reconnaissance and transportation.

Elowen did not attend the meeting because she was still treating the wounded. Her Wind energy’s Life attribute was remarkably effective on injuries that were not too severe, so she was clearly far more useful out there than sitting in this room listening to everyone talk.

Meira stood before the map, her bearing now completely different from that of the woman who liked to burrow into Erik’s embrace whenever she had the chance.

She pointed to a red route.

"First, the eastern sector. How many members of the defense team are still available?"

The captain from that morning immediately answered, "Forty-three are still capable of fighting. Another eighteen suffered minor injuries and should be able to return within a few days. Lady Elowen and the other Healers are currently treating those with more serious injuries."

"Equipment?"

"Approximately half of it needs to be replaced."

Meira nodded.

"Don’t keep using anything with a cracked magic core. Collect all of it for repairs or dismantle it for materials."

She then moved her hand toward the northern area.

"Team One will hold the eastern line. Team Two will inspect the north before nightfall. There’s no need to venture deep into the mountains. Just confirm whether any large monsters remain."

The two captains immediately recorded her instructions.

Meira continued assigning tasks.

"The agricultural team will begin collecting soil samples tomorrow. Don’t rush to plant cotton yet. I want to confirm whether the magical contamination that has accumulated over the years will affect the crops."

The woman responsible for agriculture nodded.

"I’ll divide our people into groups to inspect each area."

Meira turned toward the woman in charge of construction.

"What about housing?"

The short-haired Succubus immediately opened another map.

"Around thirty percent of the old houses can still be repaired, but much of the water system has been damaged."

"Prioritize the water supply. After that come the food storage facilities, the treatment area, and housing. Everything else can wait."

Erik sat beside her and listened without interrupting.

Meira clearly knew far more than how to fight. She had managed a large hospital, four shopping centers, and a considerable fortune for many years, so her division of responsibilities was clear, her priorities were practical, and she required almost no reminders from anyone else.

Erik waited until Meira had dealt with the immediate issues before speaking.

"Don’t expand too quickly."

The female captains immediately turned toward him.

Ever since entering the room, everyone had tried to focus on their work, but their gazes still drifted unconsciously toward Erik from time to time. Now that he had spoken voluntarily, almost all of them sat a little straighter.

Erik pointed at the route connecting the valley to Silver Moon.

"Before increasing the population, we need to reopen this transport route."

The woman in charge of logistics immediately examined the map.

"Three sections have collapsed."

"Then repair those three sections first." Erik traced a finger along the route. "This place is quite far from the current safe zone. If something happens and the transport route is cut off, the entire settlement will end up in the same situation it faced this morning."

He then shifted his gaze north.

"I also want the old mining tunnels inspected."

The reconnaissance officer immediately replied, "There are three mining areas."

"What types of minerals?"

"We don’t know. Most of the old records have been lost."

Erik nodded.

"Then survey them again. Record the types of ore, estimated reserves, monsters in the area, and transportation conditions."
