Chapter 157 : Mother Hen

The Impala rolled to a stop inside Bobby’s salvage yard.

Dean shut off the engine and everyone climbed out. Henry looked toward Bobby’s house before turning to Dean with a completely serious expression.

"Dean. Do me a favor."

Dean slammed the driver’s door. "What?"

Henry pointed at himself. "Carry me inside."

Dean frowned. "...Why?"

"I’ll pretend I’m unconscious for a while. I really don’t feel like getting chewed out by Bobby after all this."

Dean stared at him for a few seconds before a grin spread across his face. "Oh, no." He shook his head. "You’re awake, you’re walking, and you’re taking your ass inside."

Henry looked at Sam, hoping for sympathy. "Sam?"

Sam immediately looked away. "Don’t look at me. I’m not getting involved."

Henry sighed in defeat. "I knew I should’ve kept my eyes closed."

Dean laughed as he started walking toward the house.

Anna looked around the cluttered salvage yard with a puzzled expression. "Um... is this Bobby person scary?"

Henry shook his head. "No." A resigned look crossed his face. "More like an annoying old mother hen."

Dean glanced back with a smirk. "Yeah, well, that annoying old mother hen has patched us up more times than I can count."

Sam nodded. "And if he starts yelling..."

Henry sighed. "...I probably deserve it."

Dean opened the front door and walked inside with Sam, Henry, and Anna following behind.

Bobby was already waiting in the living room. An old book lay open on the table in front of him, filled with sketches of angelic symbols and passages in Latin. He looked up as the four of them entered.

"Well," Bobby grumbled, "I ain’t exactly thrilled to see you idjits again." His eyes shifted to Anna. "And who’s she?"

Dean shut the door behind him. "Long story."

Bobby snorted. "With you boys, it always is." He looked over the group, taking in their exhausted faces. "What kind of mess did you idjits get yourselves into this time?"

Henry scratched the back of his head. "Actually... this time the trouble came looking for us."

Bobby immediately pointed a finger at him. "You don’t say a damn word, boy."

Henry sighed. "I figured."

"I just got off the phone with Dean." Bobby folded his arms. "I hear you’ve been hidin’ one hell of a bombshell."

Henry gave an awkward smile. "...Yeah."

"But first things first."

Bobby reached for a flask on the table. Without warning, he unscrewed the cap and splashed holy water across all four of them.

Dean immediately scowled. "Bobby!"

"Humor an old man," Bobby replied without the slightest apology. He watched all four of them carefully. None of them smoked. None of them screamed. None of them burst into flames.

Bobby gave a satisfied nod and set the flask back down. "Good. Now we can talk."

They sat around the study table and explained everything — Anna hearing the voices of angels, Uriel tracking them down, Sam killing him with the Colt. Bobby listened without interrupting. By the time they finished, he let out a long sigh and rubbed his forehead.

"Great." He leaned back in his chair. "As if demons weren’t enough. Now you’ve got angels huntin’ your asses too."

Dean folded his arms. "So, Bobby... you got anything that can hide us from angels?"

Bobby gave him a flat look. "Dean, use your head." He gestured toward the books scattered across the table. "Angels ain’t somethin’ hunters have been dealin’ with for centuries. Nobody’s written a handbook on how to hide from ’em."

Dean sighed. "So we’re basically making this up as we go."

"Ain’t that what you boys always do?"

While Dean and Bobby continued discussing possible options, Henry barely listened.

Something isn’t right.

He had expected Heaven to keep sending angels the moment Uriel died. Instead, nothing. The silence bothered him more than another attack would have.

Did Chuck do something? He frowned. Or maybe they don’t think an ordinary Nephilim is worth mobilizing all of Heaven.

Either way, he wasn’t about to complain. He glanced down at the wound beneath his shirt. The white glow had almost disappeared. Healing faster than before.

Anna quietly watched everyone before speaking. "Um..."

Everyone turned toward her.

"If you don’t mind..." She hesitated. "Can I call my parents? I’m worried about them."

The room immediately fell silent.

Dean looked at Sam. Sam looked at Henry. Henry looked back at Dean. For several long seconds none of them spoke, the three silently trying to dump the job onto someone else.

You tell her. No, you tell her. Not happening. You tell her.

Both Dean and Sam eventually turned to look at Henry at the same time.

Henry stared at them. "Seriously?"

Dean gave a small shrug. "You’ve got this."

Sam nodded awkwardly. "Yeah..."

Henry let out a tired sigh. "Some cousins you two are." He turned toward Anna, expression becoming serious. "Anna... when we went to your house..." He hesitated. "We found your parents. They were already dead. There were signs of demons. We were too late."

Anna’s face went completely blank.

Slowly, her eyes began to fill with tears as the reality sank in.
