Chapter 152 : Big Dicks
The three of them arrived outside Anna Milton’s house and walked up to the front door.
Dean knocked twice before flashing his FBI badge toward the peephole.
"FBI. Anybody home?"
They waited for nearly a minute, but there was no response from inside. Dean tried the doorknob, found it locked, and exchanged a look with Sam before taking a step back.
"Looks like we’re doing this the usual way."
Dean drove his shoulder into the door, forcing it open on the second hit. The three hunters immediately entered with their guns drawn, carefully clearing each room until they reached the living room.
A middle-aged man and woman were lying dead on the floor.
Dean slowly looked around the room before glancing at the family photographs displayed on a nearby cabinet.
"I’m guessing they’re her parents."
Sam crouched beside one of the bodies. His eyes soon caught a familiar yellow residue scattered across the wooden floor.
He rubbed a little between his fingers before looking up at Dean.
"Sulfur. Demons?"
"What the hell would demons want with a girl?"
Dean straightened up and scanned the room once more.
"Yeah, Sammy. Looks like they were pretty desperate to get their hands on Anna. The question is... what makes her so special?"
Henry’s eyes drifted over the overturned furniture before answering.
"Maybe it’s because she can draw things demons don’t know. If she really knows things about angels and the Apocalypse that even demons don’t, she’d be worth capturing."
The three of them searched the rest of the house, checking every room, closet, and window, but found no sign of Anna.
Dean returned to the living room and shook his head.
"She’s definitely not here. So where do you think she went?"
Henry’s gaze stopped on a framed family photograph showing Anna and her parents standing outside a church.
He immediately remembered the sketchbook from the hospital. Besides the visions, Anna had repeatedly drawn the same church and its stained-glass windows.
"I can think of one place."
Dean and Sam turned toward him as Henry nodded toward the photograph.
"The church. If she escaped with demons chasing her and had nowhere else to go, that’s the first place I’d look."
The Impala pulled up outside the old church a few minutes later.
The three of them climbed out, walked up the worn stone steps, and pushed open the heavy wooden doors.
The church was silent.
Dust drifted through the air as sunlight filtered through the stained-glass windows. The wooden pews were covered with a thin layer of dust, making it obvious the building hadn’t been used for quite some time.
Henry slowly looked around the sanctuary.
"Well, it seems this place hasn’t been used for some time."
Dean took a few steps forward and raised his voice.
"Anna!"
His voice echoed throughout the empty church.
"Anna! We’re here to help!"
For several long seconds, there was no response.
Then a cautious female voice came from one of the confession booths.
"Help?"
A woman with long red hair slowly peeked out from behind the booth, carefully studying the three men standing inside the church.
Her eyes moved from Dean to Sam before finally settling on Henry.
She froze.
"Henry..."
Henry frowned slightly as she stepped out of the confession booth.
She continued staring at him for another moment before shifting her gaze toward Sam.
"You must be Sam."
Then she looked at Dean.
"And you must be Dean."
The two Winchester brothers exchanged a puzzled look.
Dean took a cautious step forward.
"Uh... how do you know us?"
Anna kept looking at Henry, her expression somewhere between confusion and recognition.
"Well... the angels talk about the three of you all the time," she said quietly. "But they talk about you the most."
Her eyes never left Henry.
Dean frowned.
"Wait a second. You can hear angels? How are they talking to you?" There was genuine confusion in his voice. From everything Castiel had shown him, angels barely acknowledged humans, let alone held conversations with them.
Anna quickly shook her head.
"No, no... they don’t talk to me."
She paused, trying to explain something she barely understood herself.
"It’s more like... they’re talking to each other, and I can hear them. They don’t know I can hear them, and they aren’t trying to communicate with me."
She lowered her gaze for a moment.
"When it first started, I thought I was losing my mind because I suddenly began hearing voices everywhere. I couldn’t understand what was happening, and no matter where I went, I kept hearing the same conversations."
Looking back at the three hunters, she continued in a quieter voice.
"Eventually I realized they weren’t talking to me at all. I was just... overhearing them."
Dean and Sam exchanged a look.
"So," Henry said, looking at Anna with genuine curiosity, "you said the angels talk about me more than the others. What exactly do they say?"
Anna hesitated.
"They... don’t say nice things."
Henry sighed.
"I figured as much. Just tell me."
She looked almost apologetic before answering.
"They call you an abomination."
After a brief pause, she quietly added,
"They keep saying you have to be smitten."
Henry rubbed his forehead.
Yeah... those feathered dicks really don’t like me.
Before he could ask another question, Dean grabbed him by the arm and pulled him a few steps away from Anna so she couldn’t overhear them.
Dean lowered his voice.
"So she can hear angels talking to each other. She’s basically an angel radio."
Sam nodded, finally understanding why demons had gone after her.
"No wonder they want her so badly. If they capture her, they’ll know every move the angels make before it happens."
Dean frowned.
"But how the hell is she doing it?"
Henry shrugged.
"No idea. Whatever the reason is, she’s useful to both sides."
He glanced back at Anna, who was nervously watching them from across the church.
"If we leave her alone, it’s only a matter of time before either the angels or the demons find her. I don’t think ending up with either side is going to be good for her."
