The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered

Chapter 209 - 208: Call Me Little Uncle

Evan Donovan choked on his tea at Leno’s casual remark and coughed for what felt like an eternity.

Simon Fisher scooted away, a look of disgust on his face. "Jeez, man, are you always this clumsy? Choking on a sip of water... how gross."

Yvonne Lowell collapsed onto Leo Grant’s shoulder, trying to stifle her laughter. "I can’t take it. Simon Fisher’s accent is so weirdly catchy, I think I’m starting to get assimilated."

Leo Grant was a little exasperated. ’Can I even point out that my girlfriend has *already* been assimilated?’

’No. I wouldn’t dare.’

’I don’t want to end up sleeping in the guest room. Besides, I think I’m being assimilated too...’

He could only stroke her hair. "It’s fine. We’ll just avoid seeing him until he sorts out that accent."

’You cold, heartless man! I’ll never forgive you!’ Simon fumed internally.

Lyle’s expression twisted for a moment. He reached out and ruffled Leno’s curly hair.

"To be honest, I’m just the old man’s adopted son, so you’re the only one who got a godmother. Besides, I’m five years older than her. It’s just not appropriate, you know?"

"Oh, so that’s how it is!" Leno nodded in sudden realization, then casually started fixing his hair.

"No wonder. You fought Little Aunt back then and promised to call her that if you lost, but you never did. So that was why. And here I thought it was because you, an eighteen-year-old, lost to a thirteen-year-old, and your ego took a hit."

Lyle was about to reach for him again when a knock on the door stopped him in his tracks.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

The head waiter pushed the door open, and a line of servers filed in carrying various dishes. After arranging everything on the table, they departed as quietly as they had come.

Lyle was so frustrated he could barely breathe. He could only glare, cheeks puffed out, at the face next to him that was a near-perfect mirror of his own. ’Younger brothers really are the most annoying creatures on the planet.’

’How could I forget this little brat looks innocent but is rotten to the core?!!!’

’I shouldn’t have brought him today. Now I’ll make him wait and see just how long it takes before he gets to see his precious Little Aunt again!’

Little did Lyle know that the other two men were reeling from a new wave of shock because of what Leno had just said.

They mentally pieced together the story. Leno’s kidnapping had been a huge scandal that shook the city. And seven years ago, Yvonne Lowell, at only thirteen years old, had appeared alone in the mountains along the border and taken out a group of hardened criminals?

And not only that, but at thirteen, she had defeated an eighteen-year-old Lyle in a fight?!

If Lyle had been joking around just now, they might have assumed he’d let Yvonne Lowell win on purpose. But he hadn’t been joking!!

They knew that ever since Lyle was a kid, he’d spent every holiday training with the J-Team. Not to mention, he was personally trained by his own mother, a firecracker of a woman who had seen actual combat.

While his skills weren’t on par with Leo Grant’s, he was definitely stronger than the two of them. He was the kind of fighter who could take on at least two high-level mercenaries at once.

Even if an eighteen-year-old Lyle wasn’t as strong as he was now, he would have been far from weak!!

’What kind of fantasy protagonist script was Yvonne Lowell following?? She was terrifyingly powerful...’

After his coughing fit subsided, Evan Donovan tentatively asked, "Yvonne, you were so young back then. Why were you in the mountains all by yourself?"

In reality, Evan Donovan was dying to ask how she had taken out a group of kidnappers and defeated Lyle, but he didn’t dare. He was terrified she might offer a live demonstration.

Plus, asking about that would probably set Lyle off.

Yvonne Lowell swallowed a piece of braised short rib that Leo Grant had fed her before replying, "I was originally looking for medicinal herbs. I didn’t find the herbs, but I found a kid instead."

Yvonne chuckled internally as she thought about her unexpected adoptive brother and sister-in-law.

They had insisted she stay for over a week, and not only had they doubled the bounty they’d posted for her on the dark web, but they’d also made their two grown sons acknowledge a thirteen-year-old girl as their godmother.

The fact that she’d managed to downgrade her title from "Godmother" to "Little Aunt" had taken a great deal of wrangling. She’d almost ended up as her accidental adoptive brother’s *goddaughter*.

’A demotion in generational status? Seriously?’

"Right, I remember that thing was just some green weed," Lyle chimed in. "At the time, the old man redirected everyone searching for Little Curly-Top here to search the mountains for that herb instead. The weeds they brought back covered the entire open ground of the Prefecture, and in the end, she only picked out four or five of the right ones."

Lyle pouted. Even he had been sent out to pull weeds back then. He came back filthy and exhausted with a whole cart of them, not one of which was the right plant.

’He still had no idea how Yvonne had managed to identify them; all the weeds looked identical.’

Simon Fisher shot him a look. "And you have the nerve to talk? You kept this from us for so long. You’re in the group chat yapping all day, every day, and you never once mentioned that you knew her."

It was all starting to click for Simon Fisher now. This woman was even more remarkable than they had imagined.

The fact that Leo Grant, who had been single for so many years and had turned down countless beautiful heiresses both at home and abroad, had suddenly fallen so hard for someone, was proof enough that she was no ordinary person.

To have been that formidable at thirteen meant Yvonne Lowell, just like Leo Grant, must have some hidden identities not yet on public display. Her background might even be more powerful than Leo’s.

Never mind a top-tier gynophobe like Leo Grant; even the rest of them wouldn’t be interested in a delicate young lady like Gigi who couldn’t even truss a chicken.

People at their level never needed strategic marriages to secure their family’s standing.

The partners they sought were never a delicate, clinging vine, but a teammate who could fight alongside them. Only a woman of comparable strength could ever hope to catch their eye.

Yvonne Lowell: ’Actually, I’m purely in it for the looks. If your friend here wants to be *my* clinging vine, I am one hundred percent willing!!’

"I was just trying to give them a surprise today, wasn’t I? You think it was easy for me to keep it all in? It’s a good thing neither of them posts on social media much, or I would’ve been exposed ages ago!" Lyle shot back, refusing to be outdone.

God only knew how excited he’d been when he saw both their posts pop up on his feed at the same time! As a certified chatterbox with a massive case of verbal diarrhea, it had taken all his self-control to delete the long comment he’d typed out to avoid revealing that he was their mutual friend.

Even when the guys were discussing it in their group chat, he’d only offered a few noncommittal replies.

It was all for today, to give them all just a *tiny* little shock!

The collective, unspoken response from everyone else was a resounding, ’Thanks for asking. We’re not shocked, just exasperated with you.’

No one took the bait, but Lyle didn’t mind. Instead, he turned to Leo Grant and cleared his throat.

"Brother Leo, I’d be a little nicer to me from now on, if I were you. Otherwise, Yvonne might hear some of your dirty little secrets~"

Leo Grant languidly lifted his gaze to him. "How about you call me ’Little Uncle’ first?"

"Fuck!"

The rest of the meal passed with easy conversation and laughter, the atmosphere light and relaxed.

Although the men were casual in their speech, they were all tactful and knew not to pry.

Yvonne Lowell could also see that Leo Grant dropped all pretense around them; he was far more relaxed than he was with outsiders.

However, everyone had other obligations, so after the meal, they all went their separate ways.
