Chapter 142 - 141: Double Identity Reveal
Serenity Pavilion.
Yvonne Lowell and Nina Jennings, having put on their masks and voice changers, pushed open the car door and got out.
The teahouse door wasn’t locked. Yvonne Lowell brazenly pushed it open and walked right in.
A young man approached, blocking their path, his tone tinged with doubt.
"Excuse me, are you Master Lilos?"
Beneath her mask, the corner of Yvonne Lowell’s mouth twitched. ’He let me in first, and *now* he’s asking this nonsense.’
She gave a slight nod. "Yes. Lead the way."
The man pursed his lips and led them to the innermost private room.
’Boss, you’re the one who told me to receive them. You can’t blame me for this. You never specified their gender beforehand.’
Before entering, Yvonne Lowell glanced up at the nameplate on the private room door. ’Rainwood Manor?’
After the two women went inside, the man shut the door and stood guard outside like a sentinel.
Yvonne Lowell scanned the teahouse’s interior. It was decorated in a Zen style, with the gentle and tranquil scent of sandalwood wafting from the window.
’The leader of G Group has pretty good taste.’
Looking toward the far end of the room, she saw a man in a black tunic suit, sitting cross-legged with his back to her.
He seemed to be... chanting scriptures?
Yvonne Lowell seated herself at the tea table and spoke with a hint of sarcasm.
"Did the leader of G Group summon me just to listen to you chant scriptures?"
Hearing an unfamiliar woman’s voice, the man’s brows furrowed slightly. "Ian Lynch, serve tea."
With that, he stood up and sat down at another tea table, diagonally across from Yvonne Lowell.
"My apologies. I didn’t realize Master Lilos was a woman. I’m allergic to women, so I can’t get too close."
At the familiar voice and familiar face, Yvonne Lowell’s pupils contracted.
She had only ever met Silas Lynch and Warren Lynch; no wonder she didn’t recognize the big oaf who had just blocked her path.
’G... Grant... Aurelia’s special supplier... It all seemed to make sense now.’
Nina Jennings was shocked too. Shielded by the table, she was frantically digging her nails into Yvonne’s thigh.
Yvonne Lowell slapped the claws off her leg and calmly looked at Leo Grant.
"It’s fine. I’ve brought the blueprints. Can we put this matter to rest now?"
Leo Grant looked at the two masked women across from him. Instead of answering, he asked a question of his own.
"Could it be that you two are too ugly to show your real faces?"
’Heh heh. Leo Grant, you little punk, you’re so screwed.’ ^_^
Beneath the table, Yvonne Lowell cracked her knuckles. "Mind your own business when it comes to beautiful women. Let’s talk business, or I’ll start to think you have a crush on me."
Her words left Leo Grant speechless for a moment. "My standards aren’t that low. Master Lilos’s blueprints are naturally excellent, but there are only two... If word got out, wouldn’t it make LY look a bit stingy?"
Yvonne Lowell cursed him in her head. ’Damn man, rotten crook!’
"Since these two blueprints have been given to G Group, they will be exclusively produced and sold by G Group from now on. They won’t end up in LY’s labs," Yvonne Lowell said pointedly.
"Isn’t that how it should be? Or was LY planning to produce the same model of firearm? Don’t tell me you wanted to release it before us and frame G Group for plagiarism?" Leo Grant asked with feigned confusion.
Yvonne Lowell took a deep breath. "Since you’re not satisfied with my proposed solution, why don’t you state your terms."
Leo Grant calmly took a sip of tea, not even glancing at the two women.
"Five. Five blueprints personally designed by you. Any type of gun will do. G Group isn’t picky."
Nina Jennings couldn’t take it anymore. She slammed the table and shot to her feet. "Why don’t you just rob us instead?"
Ian Lynch immediately took a few steps forward to shield him, but Leo Grant waved him back with a gesture.
Leo Grant gave an unreadable smile. "Because this is much more profitable than robbery. At least I don’t have to worry about a bounty being placed on my head, right?"
Yvonne Lowell was so angry she laughed. She pulled Nina Jennings back down into her seat before turning to the damn man across from her.
"Don’t you have any self-awareness? A single one of my blueprints is worth more than that whole pile of your weapons, with change to spare. Besides, even if I just took that shipment, what could you do to me?"
"I was only willing to give you a favor because you supply Aurelia at a low price. It’s true that my people were in the wrong this time, and I apologize for that."
"Now there are only two solutions: either I give you two blueprints, or you name a price, and I’ll pay you double what the guns cost."
Leo Grant shook his head, unmoved. "Then I’m very grateful for my fervent patriotism, which has saved me from having to swallow this loss in silence. But I don’t need money. Five blueprints. Not one less, or the bounty stays."
Yvonne Lowell was getting impatient. ’This old fox’s skill at swindling people is on par with my own.’
’If he used it on someone else, I could even praise him. But now that he’s using it on me, I’m not happy about it at all.’
"And if I refuse?" Yvonne Lowell’s voice was light, betraying no emotion.
Leo Grant leaned back in his chair. "This teahouse is mine," he said nonchalantly. "And I have some connections in Kingsland."
Yvonne Lowell switched off her voice changer and looked up at him. "Is that so? It seems President Grant intends for me to not leave this place alive."
Hearing the familiar voice, Leo Grant whipped his head around to look, completely petrified. For a moment, he forgot to respond.
Yvonne Lowell removed her mask, a half-smile playing on her lips as she looked at him. "Leo Grant, have I been too easy on you?"
Ian Lynch’s jaw dropped so wide you could fit a goose egg in it. ’OMG, OMG, Master Lilos is actually Miss Lowell?! And LY Group belongs to Miss Lowell too?!’
’I’ve met the boss’s wife! She’s so beautiful! But this situation seems a little awkward! How exciting!’
Leo Grant snapped back to his senses and stood up, trying to move closer. "Bonnie, this is all a misunderstanding..."
Yvonne Lowell held up a hand to stop him. "Stay where you are. Two blueprints. Can we put this matter to rest now?"
Leo Grant nodded, then quickly shook his head.
"No need for blueprints! It’s just a few crates of goods, right? Just take them! Is that even enough? If not, I’ll have someone send more over to you."
Then he kicked Ian Lynch. "What are you waiting for? Go and cancel that bounty now?!"
"Yes, Master." Ian Lynch walked out of the teahouse, rubbing his backside.
He grumbled to himself, ’Just a moment ago, he was talking about not letting her leave alive, and now he wants to give her stuff for free. Pfft. What a simp.’
Leo Grant moved forward and wrapped his arm around her waist. "Look at this whole mess. Talk about not recognizing one of our own. My fault, all my fault."
"Alright, I didn’t know it was you at first either. Take the blueprints. Consider it compensation."
"You really don’t..."
Yvonne Lowell shot him a look, and Leo Grant fell silent.
He gave her a light peck on the lips. "How is my Bonnie so wonderful? Blueprints from Master Lilos! These two models will definitely be G Group’s bestsellers from now on."
Nina Jennings, standing to the side, couldn’t bear to watch. She spoke up, interrupting their lovey-dovey moment.
"Hello? There’s still another person here, you know."
