Death Game in another world

Chapter 56— Seductive Shadow and Crimson Sparks .

The ambient temperature inside Warehouse 7 rose rapidly as high-density mana surged through the central iron conduit.

Ren’s glowing crimson eyes were locked on his interface, his fingers blurring across holographic screens as the virus script stripped away the port’s defensive encryptions layer by layer.

"Almost there, Kaelen," Ren whispered, a bead of sweat tracing down his temple.

"Thirty more seconds, and the feedback loop locks in."

From the upper window frame of the warehouse, a powerful aura suddenly descended toward the dock floor. Heavy, iron-shod boots smashed through the wooden roof structure, sending splintered beams and dark tiles raining down into the central side.

A man over six feet tall, draped in a luxurious blood-red cloak over sleek obsidian plate armor, descended lightly onto the wooden floorboards.

In his left hand, he held a long, curved rapier that hummed with concentrated Tier-SS pressure. His sharp, arrogant features were illuminated by the glowing blue mana lines running across his armor.

"Rats in the supply lines," High Commander Vane said smoothly, his voice soft, cultured, and dripping with absolute contempt. His eyes swept over the severed bodies of his lieutenants before settling on Kaelen.

"You bypass our outer border arrays only to die in a storage room. How utterly tedious."

Lyra stepped forward immediately, her silver armor shifting as her holy sword ignited with brilliant, radiant mana. The heat from her aura flared, but before she could spring forward, Kaelen’s gloved hand gently caught her by the waist.

Lyra’s breath caught in her throat.

The touch wasn’t just a signal to hold back—it was firm, possessive, and slow. Kaelen pulled her back against his chest, his fingers lingering on the curved line of her waist, pressing her tight against the hard contours of his body.

The sudden, intense proximity sent a jolt of raw heat surging down her spine, making her heart hammer wildly against her ribs.

"K-Kaelen...?" Lyra murmured, her voice dropping to a soft, breathless whisper. Her cheeks flushed beneath the dim mana light, her eyes wide as she felt his breath brush warmly against the sensitive skin of her neck.

"Be patient, my light," Kaelen purred softly into her ear, his voice a low, dark velvet stroke that made her knees turn weak despite the imminent combat. "A high commander deserves a proper show before his demise."

High Commander Vane’s eyebrows twitched, his arrogance turning into sharp irritation at being so thoroughly ignored. "Dying fools! You dare flirt in my presence?!"

Vane lunged forward. His speed was terrifying—a blur of blood-red mana trailing behind his rapier as he aimed a lethal triple-piercing strike straight at Kaelen’s throat.

Kaelen didn’t even draw his Void Blade completely.

Maintaining his firm, sensual grip on Lyra’s waist, he effortlessly guided her with him as he spun backward in a fluid, dance-like spatial curve. Their bodies moved as one, perfectly synchronized in the narrow gap between two massive crates of explosive mana oil.

Vane’s rapier thrust into thin air, striking only the lingering scent of Lyra’s floral perfume and the dark violet trail of Kaelen’s spatial mana.

"What?!" Vane gasped, stumbling slightly as his lethal strike missed by less than a millimeter.

Kaelen brought Lyra close once more, his hand sliding smoothly from her waist up to the small of her back, pressing her chest flush against his dark coat.

Their eyes met for a long, electric second—her blue eyes wide with an intoxicating mixture of adrenaline and desire, his violet gaze burning with cool, absolute dominance.

"Hold the line for two seconds," Kaelen whispered, his lips almost brushing hers.

Lyra swallowed hard, a shiver running through her entire body. "Always."

Ren slammed his hand onto his console grid. "Boss! The array is overloaded! The whole harbor goes up in five seconds!"

High Commander Vane’s face went completely pale as the glowing iron terminal behind him turned from blue to a blinding, chaotic white. The runes across the warehouse began to scream with unstable cosmic pressure.

"You monsters...!" Vane shrieked, finally realizing the true scale of the trap. "You set off a continental-scale detonation?!"

Kaelen released Lyra, stepping smoothly between Vane and the terminal. His Void Blade finally slipped from its sheath with a sinister, ringing hum that cut through the roaring sound of the overloading mana.

"You wanted to harvest our realm, Vane," Kaelen said coldly, his violet eyes glowing like twin dying stars. "Now, harvest the ash."

SWISH!

Kaelen didn’t just slash at Vane—he sliced open the spatial coordinates behind his team. A dark violet spatial rift opened instantly in the air behind Lyra, Ren, and Tsubaki.

Before Vane could raise his sword to defend himself or run, Kaelen’s blade executed a silent, horizontal line across the air.

[SKILL ACTIVATED: VOID SEVERANCE—ZERO FRAME]

Vane’s body froze. The blood-red cloak, the obsidian plate armor, and his neck were all bisected in a single, imperceptible instant. His top half slid off his waist, crashing to the wooden floor with a heavy thud just as the central terminal exploded into a pillar of white-hot destruction.

"In!" Kaelen commanded, grabbing Lyra’s hand firmly and pulling her into the spatial rift behind him as Ren and Tsubaki dived through the portal.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The spatial rift snapped shut just as Warehouse 7 tore itself apart.

The feedback loop fed backward through every underground mana conduit in Oakhaven Port.

One after another, the three dozen sleek Vaelorian warships docked along the piers erupted into massive fireballs. Iron watchtowers collapsed like toy blocks as their mana-disruption ballistas exploded from internal power surges.

Within seconds, the proud 4th Vanguard Fleet of the Vaelorian Empire was reduced to a vast, burning graveyard of sinking iron and roaring flame.

SWOOSH!

Miles away from the burning harbor, high inside a secluded, dark cave nestled within the basalt cliffs overlooking the coastline, a quiet spatial portal opened.

Kaelen stepped out first, catching Lyra as they tumbled slightly onto the cool, smooth stone floor of the cavern.

The spatial portal behind them flickered out, leaving the cave in soft, dim shadows lit only by the distant, fiery red glow of the burning port visible through the cave’s mouth.

Ren dropped onto his rear near the entrance, panting heavily as he leaned against his console. "Man... that was tight! The whole 4th Fleet is sunk! It’ll take them six months just to clear the wreckage from the harbor."

Tsubaki bowed quietly, melting into the shadows near the cave mouth to stand guard. "I shall secure the exterior perimeter, my lord."

Inside the deeper, private recess of the cave, away from Ren’s screens, Kaelen sat back against a smooth stone ledge.

Lyra remained seated right beside him, her breathing still somewhat shallow and heavy from the adrenaline of the escape and the lingering touch of his hands. The heat in her body hadn’t faded; if anything, away from the immediate danger of combat, it flared even brighter.

She turned to look at him in the dim red light of the distant fires.

Her silver breastplate felt heavy, and she slowly unlatched the leather straps, letting the outer armor pieces fall to the stone floor with a soft clatter, leaving her in a form-fitting, thin dark tunic that hugged the soft curves of her waist and chest.

"You played a dangerous game back there," Lyra whispered softly, leaning closer until her shoulder brushed against his arm. Her skin felt warm, a light sheen of perspiration glistening on her collarbone. "Holding me like that... right in front of an imperial commander."Kaelen turned his head, his dark eyes locking onto her flushed face. He reached out, his long fingers trailing lightly down her neck, resting against her pulse point, which was beating fast and wild.

"Was it dangerous?" Kaelen asked smoothly, his voice low, commanding, yet unmistakably intimate. "Or did you enjoy every second of it?"

Lyra’s breath hitched. She didn’t pull away. Instead, she leaned into his touch, her lips parting slightly as her hands came up to rest gently against his chest, feeling the steady, absolute calm of his heart.

"You know the answer to that, Kaelen..." she murmured, her eyes softening with deep, unyielding devotion and raw, unsuppressed desire.

Kaelen pulled her closer into the shadows of the cave, his mouth closing the small distance between them as the flames of Oakhaven burned brightly against the night sky outside.
