GEM TALENT

Chapter 60: 60: THE ALLIANCE THAT COULD DESTROY HIM

-----------

The morning mist still clung to the grass like a heavy blanket, but the quiet of the training ground was quickly broken by the sharp, metallic whistle of Coach Lincoln.

As the sound echoed across the facility, all the players began to jog toward the center of the pitch, their breath forming small clouds in the

freezing air while their boots crunched rhythmically against the damp turf.

Before Coach Lincoln started discussing the tactical plans for the week, he held up his hand to get everyone's attention and stepped into the middle of the huddle with a faint smile on his face.

"Before we get into the heavy work of the day, we have a very important matter to handle first," he announced, his voice booming with a natural authority that made every player go silent.

He looked around the circle until his eyes landed on the newcomer, and he gestured for

Kyle to step forward so that everyone could see him clearly.

"We haven't had the chance to officially welcome Kyle into the squad, and as you all know, we have a specific tradition here at Blackpool that we must uphold," Lincoln said, and a few of the veteran players started to chuckle and clap their hands in anticipation.

The players immediately began to move into two parallel lines, creating a narrow human tunnel that stretched across the center circle, and they stood opposite each other so Kyle could pass through the middle to be welcomed officially.

William found himself standing directly across from a young defender, and he joined in the clapping, although his heart wasn't fully in it after seeing Kyle's secret meeting with Reed. One by one, the players began to playfully pat

Kyle on the back and shoulders as he started his jog through the middle of the lines, which was a rite of passage designed to build a sense of unity and brotherhood.

As Kyle ran past him, William noticed that the newcomer was smiling brightly for the benefit of the cameras and the coach, but there was a strange, calculating look in his eyes that made William feel very uneasy.

Once the official welcome was finished and the team had gathered back into a tight group, Coach Lincoln's expression suddenly changed from lighthearted to incredibly serious, and the atmosphere on the pitch became heavy with

expectation.

He folded his arms across his chest and looked at each player individually, his gaze lingering on the leaders of the team before he finally spoke.

"I want everyone to focus now because the match we have this Sunday is one of the most important game of our season so far," he began, his voice dropping to a low, intense tone that commanded absolute respect. He paused for a moment to let the weight of his words sink in, and the only sound that could be

heard was the low hum of the distant city traffic.

"We are playing against Swansea City, the club that is currently sitting at the very top of the league table, and I know that many people outside of this club expect us to be intimidated by them," Lincoln continued, his eyes flashing with a fierce determination.

"But I want to make one thing very clear to every man standing on this pitch today, no one should be scared of anything or anyone." He

took a step forward, his presence filling the space as he spoke about the philosophy of the game.

"At the end of the day, they are just eleven players versus eleven players, which means they have no magical advantage over us as

long as we keep our heads in the game."

The coach's words seemed to ignite a spark of confidence in the squad, and William could see several players nodding their heads in agreement because they believed in the system Lincoln had built.

"There is no reason for panic because we have proven that we can compete with the best, and I am instructing you right now that we are taking this unbeaten form all the way to the end of the season," Lincoln declared, his voice rising in volume.

He explained that their momentum was their greatest weapon, and as long as they remained disciplined, they could dismantle any opponent regardless of their position in the standings.

After he finished addressing the team as a whole, Lincoln turned his body and faced Kyle directly, and the rest of the players went silent as they watched the interaction.

"Kyle, you are officially part of this family now, and we are happy to have your talent on our side, but you must understand that there is a lot of work to be done if you want to stay here," Lincoln said, his voice becoming even more stern.

He looked Kyle dead in the eye, making it clear that reputation meant nothing if it wasn't backed up by effort.

"You need to be more focused on how to help this team grow instead of trying to oppose anyone or act like an individual star."

The coach continued his lecture, emphasizing that the strength of Blackpool lay in their collective spirit rather than the skill of a single player.

"Here at this club, we support each other so we can get to the top as one single unit, and that means you do exactly as you are told and you follow the instructions of the staff," he added, his words carrying a subtle warning that did not go unnoticed by William.

It was as if the coach could sense the underlying tension that Kyle had brought with him, so he was setting the boundaries early to

prevent any internal conflict from ruining the team's progress.

Kyle nodded his head quickly to show that he was listening, and he spoke up with a voice that sounded polite, yet his facial expression showed that he was actually quite unhappy with what Coach Lincoln was saying.

Back when he was playing in Milan, the coaches had given him a massive amount of freedom to do whatever he wanted on the pitch, and he was used to being the center of

attention who didn't have to follow strict tactical rules. Now, he was being told that he would have to reduce his individual flair and work for the benefit of the group, which clearly felt like a step backward to him. He tried to hide

his frustration behind a fake smile, but William could see the tightness in his jaw and the way his eyes darted toward Reed for a brief second.

While the rest of the team was busy reacting to the coach's speech, William kept his emotions under control and purposefully avoided looking at Barco, Reed, and Harris. He knew that those three were still bitter about his success, and he could feel their cold stares burning into him as they stood together on the

other side of the circle.

Reed, in particular, looked like he was barely holding back his anger because he had lost his starting position to William, and seeing Kyle, his new secret ally being lectured by the coach probably felt like another insult to his pride.

However, William refused to give them the satisfaction of a reaction, choosing instead to stare straight ahead and focus on the task at

hand.

He told himself that the opinions of the bullies didn't matter as long as he remained useful to the coach and the club. His only goal was to figure out how to help the team reach the top of the table, and he knew that the match against

Swansea would be the perfect opportunity to show that he belonged in the starting eleven.

As Coach Lincoln began to wrap up his talk, he looked at the players one last time with a look of immense pride and expectation.

"We are a team of warriors, and Sunday is the day we prove to the entire country that we are not just a surprise story, but a permanent force in this league," he said, and the players

responded with a loud, synchronized shout of

"Yes, Coach!"

That echoed throughout the training ground. The meeting was officially over, and as the

players began to break away to prepare for the start of the drills, the tension in the air remained thick and heavy.

William took a deep breath of the cold morning air, trying to settle the nerves that were fluttering in his stomach while he watched Kyle and Reed walk away together.

He realized that the battle for his future was becoming more complicated every day, because he wasn't just fighting the opponents on the pitch, but also the hidden enemies within his own team.

Despite the fear of what they might be planning, he felt a sense of calm resolve wash over him because he knew that as long as he stayed focused and worked harder than anyone else, they would never be able to take his dream away from him.

He adjusted his training vest and prepared his mind for the day, knowing that every second on this pitch was a step toward the greatness he so desperately craved.
