GEM TALENT

Chapter 152: 152: A SURPRISE AWAITS

The referee blew his silver whistle to start the second half of the match. The players stepped out of the dark stadium tunnel, and they returned to the green pitch to finish the football battle.

The players came out for the second half and they are very well prepared to defend their home ground. The Blackpool squad wanted to protect their two-goal lead and secure the three points in front of their loyal fans.

On the opposite side of the field, the visiting team had a different plan in mind. Newcastle and Kyle also focused on a comeback win against Blackpool.

The match started again, and Newcastle changed their tactics to play a more attacking football from the back. Their central defenders kept possession of the ball, and they moved the leather from side to side to find open spaces.

The Newcastle fullbacks made overlaps down the wings to stretch the Blackpool defense. They searched for gaps in the defensive line, and they sent dangerous crosses into the penalty area toward the near post.

The Blackpool defenders jumped high and made strong defensive headers to push the ball away from danger. Newcastle kept possession for long periods, and they tried to dictate the pace of the game.

The home fans sang loud songs to encourage the Blackpool defenders, and the stadium noise echoed under the bright floodlights. The game transformed into a test of endurance and focus for the home team.

But when the visiting team wanted to break through the midfield, William and Eric were there to stop every single attack. The two young boys formed a solid wall in front of their penalty box, and they refused to let any opponent pass them.

Eric used his strong physical presence to shield the defensive line, and he made crucial interceptions to cut off the opponent's passing lanes.

A Newcastle midfielder tried to play a smart through ball behind the defense to a running striker, but Eric stretched his leg and blocked the pass. William used his bright vision to read the flow of the game, and he anticipated the opponent's next moves before they even happened.

When Newcastle tried to launch a sudden counter attack down the center of the pitch, William tracked back and executed clean sliding tackles to steal the ball. The home crowd roared in approval for his defensive work.

Kyle received the ball near the center circle and tried to dribble past the Blackpool captain. William stood his ground, watched the ball, and poked the leather away from Kyle's feet to win back possession.

The combination between William and Eric broke the Newcastle rhythm. Whenever Newcastle managed to push near the penalty area, Eric made heavy clearances to send the ball into the stands.

William and Eric worked as a perfect pair, and they linked the defense to the attack with accurate passes. The Blackpool fans cheered for their young captain and his midfield partner, and the crowd noise fueled their energy to keep running.

The physical battle continued without a pause, and the stadium clock reached the final fifteen minutes of the match. The fast pace of the Premier League match began to drain the energy of the young players on the pitch.

At the 75th minutes, William and Eric was tired but still in the match to fight for their club. William wiped sweat from his face and pushed his aching legs to keep marking his assigned man. Eric breathed heavy, but he refused to leave his position near the center circle.

Kyle noticed this fatigue in the Blackpool midfield, and he decided to exploit the tired legs of his opponents. Kyle demanded the ball near the halfway line and looked up to scan the final third of the pitch. He spotted his fast striker making a darting run toward the Blackpool penalty area. Without taking another touch, Kyle swung his right foot and played a long ball from the midfield to the Newcastle striker.

The ball soared over the Blackpool defenders and dropped into the box. The Newcastle striker controlled the falling ball with his chest, took one step forward, and smashed a powerful shot past the diving goalkeeper into the bottom corner of the net.

Gooooooallllllll!

Some Newcastle players ran to the corner flag to celebrate, and the away fans cheered loud for the goal. The visiting squad grabbed the ball from the net and ran back to the center circle to restart the game, believing they had a chance to complete a comeback.

The Blackpool defenders dropped their heads, but William refused to accept this goal. He saw the striker's run from the beginning, and his sharp eyes caught a crucial mistake in the buildup.

William rushed to the referee, telling him that he should check his decision one last time. He pointed his finger at the assistant referee on the sideline and explained that the Newcastle striker is offside before Kyle played the long ball from the midfield.

Kyle walked over to argue the case for his team, but the referee listened to the call from the Blackpool captain. The referee paused the match and touched his earpiece to hear the VAR officials in the video room. The whole stadium fell silent as the fans waited for the final outcome.

The referee ran to the sideline monitor to review the footage himself. He watched the replay on the small screen, and he saw the striker standing behind the last Blackpool defender when Kyle made the pass.

The referee ran back onto the pitch, blew his whistle, and raised his arm in the air. The goal was cancelled as offside, and the home fans erupted into massive cheers. The score remained two to zero for Blackpool.

At the 78th minutes, after the check restored their lead and confidence, Coach Lincoln made a tactical decision to secure the win. The fourth official stood on the touchline and raised the electronic board with bright red and green numbers.

A multiple substitution took place to give the tired players a rest. William, Eric, Morgan, and Ortega were substituted for Barco, Coleman, Ibrahim, and Fernandes. The fans stood up from their bright orange seats and gave the departing players a loud round of applause.

Morgan clapped for the fans, and Ortega waved at the crowd. The coach brought in experience players so they will maintain the lead and control the final minutes with maturity.

Fernandes met William on the touchline, and William unfastened the captain armband from his left arm. He handed the band to the veteran captain, and Fernandes strapped it around his own arm.

Fernandes gave William a pat on the back, and William walked to the dugout. Coach Lincoln greeted him with a firm handshake and a proud smile. The young boy sat on the substitute bench, drank some cold water from a plastic bottle, and watched his older teammates take charge of the field.

The fresh veteran players brought calm energy to the pitch, and they executed the manager's plan with precision. Coleman kept the ball safe in the center of the midfield, and he won crucial free kicks to slow down the pace of the match.

A Newcastle player tried to steal the ball, but Coleman used his body to shield the leather and drew a foul. Ibrahim held the ball near the corner flags to waste the remaining time, and he used his physical strength to keep the frustrated Newcastle defenders away from the ball.

Newcastle pushed their fullbacks forward and tried to send desperate crosses into the penalty area from the wide wings. The fresh Blackpool defenders jumped and headed every cross away from the goal, refusing to give the opponent any clear shooting chances.

The away team earned a late corner kick, but Walker rushed off his line and punched the ball away from the near post. The Blackpool players communicated well and kept their defensive shape intact, frustrating the Newcastle attackers until the last second of the game.

The referee checked his digital watch, blew the final whistle, and pointed to the center of the pitch. It was a win for Blackpool, finishing the match 2 - 0 against Newcastle.

The stadium shook with noise, and the players hugged each other on the pitch. The fans chant Blackpool and players name with massive joy. William walked back onto the field to celebrate with his friends, and he looked up at the main stadium stands.

There is also a banner wishing William a happy birthday in bright orange and white colors. The banner featured his name and jersey number, and it showed the massive love the city had for him.

William smiled and waved his hands at the crowd, feeling a warm sense of belonging in this coastal city. His teammates gathered around him and clapped to celebrate his special day and his wonderful performance as the youngest captain.

The moment came to an end as the players walked down the dark tunnel to return to their dressing room. William grabbed his sports bag and prepared to head home for some rest. He planned to sleep for the rest of the night, but doesn't know that another celebration awaits him in his house.
