Chapter 171 - library 1
I got out of the dining table, and Luna followed me as we headed toward the library.
Luna asked,
"So, do you have any previous knowledge about artifact crafting?"
I nodded at her with a confident smile.
"I have none at all."
Her eyes twitched.
"Then why did you nod with that much confidence?"
I just shrugged.
"Don’t you know you need to have confidence in yourself? So even if I don’t know anything, I have to be confident when I say I don’t know."
She put a hand on her forehead.
"You are impossible. Let’s go."
I grinned and continued walking toward the library.
"So, did you settle in well in the new room? Did you have any problems sleeping?"
She shook her head.
"No. I slept very well."
I nodded.
"Hmm, that’s good to hear."
Then I asked,
"I’m going to get some basic knowledge about artifacts and how to create them. It might be boring. Do you want to come? If not, it’s totally fine for you to go and rest more. After all, we had a long journey and that fight."
"You only rested a little."
She looked at herself and, surprisingly, didn’t feel tired at all. Even if she had been tired, she would still have stayed in the library with me.
So she shook her head.
"Hmm, actually, after I practiced Aura, I made my Moon Element Aura. Now I’m recovering really fast. With my Light and Moon affinities, I can make sure my recovery speed stays at its best."
I looked at her with my Perception and could feel a faint trace of Aura in her body that was helping her recover.
I smiled and nodded.
"That’s good, then."
She looked at me worriedly.
"How about you?"
I looked at her worried face and smiled.
"Did you forget what people call me?"
She thought for a moment.
"A young prodigy?"
My eyes twitched.
"What kind of name is that? The people close to me call me a slacker."
I said it with a proud smile.
She giggled at that.
"Don’t worry. My physique is an all-in-one physique. It keeps my physical condition at its maximum whenever I want."
She raised an eyebrow, so I explained.
"You see, my physique grants me an energy called Abyssal Energy. If I want to, I can use it to do almost anything with my body. Like that time when I basically fell asleep. I could use that energy to stay awake and remain in peak condition for as long as I wanted."
She looked at me and asked,
"Then why did you fall down and sleep like a log?"
I put on a proud expression.
"That’s because I’m a slacker. Why should I make my sleep disappear by using that energy? It’s a waste of my sleep."
Her eyes twitched, but I continued.
"And my physique gives me incredible energy and recovery. On top of that, my sword’s ability is Lifesteal, so it recovers me too."
Then I went closer to her and whispered,
"This is a new ability only you know about, but now I can use Devour to devour other things besides energy, elemental attacks, and those kinds of things."
Her eyes widened.
"What else can you absorb? Tell me."
I thought about it for a little while.
"Many things. Do you want a demonstration?"
She nodded with shining eyes.
So I brought out an empty cup and gave it to Luna. She held it while I took a water bottle and poured water into it.
Then I took her favorite orange juice and poured it into the water.
Her eyes widened.
"Oh no! My orange juice!"
I laughed at her reaction.
She glared at me after seeing her precious orange juice being mixed with water.
Then I took another cup and closed my hand around the first cup.
I used Devour to absorb all the water while using Space to hold it in the air. Then I transferred the water into the other cup.
I looked at Luna.
"Try your orange juice now."
She looked suspiciously at the cup but still took a sip.
A clear, fresh orange flavor spread across her mouth.
I looked at her proudly.
"So, what do you think? That’s only one of the things I can use Devour on."
Her eyes brightened.
"Yeah! You can be my juice maker."
I almost stumbled at her words.
I tapped her forehead.
"Do you only think about your juice?"
She nodded.
I glared at her, and she giggled once more.
I took her orange juice cup and held it in the air.
Her eyes widened as she tried to grab it, but I wouldn’t let it go.
Then she did something I didn’t expect.
She created a Light Spear, stepped on it, and used it to reach the orange juice.
I looked at her in surprise.
"You figured that out?"
She nodded with a smug expression.
"Who do you think I am?"
I thought about it for a moment and made some arrangements in my mind to make the idea work.
I nodded with approval.
She was a genius. No one could deny that.
Finally, we arrived at the library.
Luna had already finished her orange juice, so we opened the door and entered the library.
It was a family library, so there weren’t many people inside.
There were some knights and other people who usually came here to read books.
The librarian looked at me, and her eyes immediately widened, but she still kept her voice quiet.
"Young Master, what can I get for you today? It’s been years since I last saw you."
"You’ve grown a lot. You used to come here all the time and bring food to share with me."
I nodded with a smile.
"Hmm. Mom and I went away for some matters."
Then I pointed at Luna.
"Let me introduce you. This is my fiancée and the third princess of the royal family."
Luna greeted her and introduced herself by her full name.
The librarian looked at Luna, and her eyes widened at her beauty.
"Oh my, what a beautiful princess."
Luna thanked her for the compliment.
Then the librarian asked,
"What can I get for you today, Young Master?"
I said,
"Do you have any books about artifact creation? I’m preparing to make a Space Ring, but I need to learn the basics first."
She nodded.
"Hmm, let me see."
She searched through the shelves and found a few books that laid the foundation of the field.
"Here, Young Master. These books are the most recommended."
I nodded.
"Thank you for your hard work."
Then I brought out a few fruits, candies, and light snacks for her and gave them to her.
She smiled and accepted them.
At first, she used to refuse, but after that day, whenever I gave her food, she accepted it.
Then I took all the books, and Luna carried some of them.
She had given us quite a lot of books.
If I wanted to, I could carry them all myself, but this way felt more normal, and Luna was happy to help as well.
I looked around and found a good place.
Then Luna and I went there and took our seats. She sat beside me.
I knew we couldn’t stay here silently forever, so I used Space and created a Space Barrier around our table so that no sound could leave the barrier.
Then I went closer to Luna and clapped loudly near her ear.
She flinched and glared at me.
"What are you doing? We’re in a library. Don’t make noise."
I laughed when I saw her trying to hold herself back.
Then I pointed around us.
"Look. I put up a Space Barrier. No one can hear us inside this."
"Isn’t it amazing?"
She looked around and noticed that no one was looking at us because of the noise.
Then she realized it was because of my barrier.
An evil smile appeared on her face.
She rubbed her hands together.
"So, that means I can hit you, right?"
She looked at me.
I looked back at her, raised both my hands, and said,
"No, no! It only blocks sound and other things, not visuals. If you hit me, everyone else will see what an evil princess you are."
A black line appeared on her forehead, and she looked around before pinching me hard.
"Ow, ow, ow! It hurts! I was just joking!"
She nodded.
"Yeah, I’m joking as well. Take the joke."
I looked at her and saw a genuinely bright smile on her face.
Then she released me.
I rubbed the spot.
"You’re so cruel. Didn’t you feel any pity toward me?"
She blinked.
"Pity... for you? No way."
She puffed out her cheeks.
I smiled at that.
"Okay, okay. Let’s see what books we have."
She huffed and nodded as well, we looked through all the titles, wondering which book we should start with.
