Chapter 148: 148 - Nexus and Lailah Go Out Alone
With his current unpredictable temper, after standing up, Nexus suddenly lost interest in letting Mark massage his legs anymore.
Nexus turned his back on Mark, his black robe fluttering in the wind. That figure under the bright moonlight gave off a strange charm that left Mark staring wide-eyed.
Why is Master so carefree? Just standing there is enough to make me sigh in admiration.
Just as Mark secretly praised him in his heart, Nexus immediately curled up the corner of his mouth into a smile. He did not turn around but tossed a handful of money at Mark.
The bills scattered all over toward Mark, making him feel confused. Is making money really that easy? Why did he remember that making money used to be so difficult?
"Master, why are you giving me money?"
Having not used money for quite a long time, Mark suddenly felt that the whole matter of using money was something extremely strange.
Lately, with the system continuously maintaining his body through buffs, Mark had never needed to worry about eating or anything else.
"The system no longer secretly interferes now, so your body still needs to eat and drink like a normal person. Although you're my disciple, staying beside useless trash like you is too boring. How you live within this week is up to you."
As he spoke, Nexus hoisted Lailah onto his shoulder as if carrying a sack. Glancing left and right a few times, Nexus randomly picked a direction and flew away.
Judging by Nexus's appearance, he probably wanted to take Lailah around to play for a while so he would not get bored.
Now, even though it was already late at night, did that matter? Nexus only needed to fly to the other side of the hemisphere, and it would still be daytime there, so they could play comfortably.
"Oh, why don't I feel any pressure or wind?"
Lailah blinked and looked around. Based on how fast the scenery was moving, she could determine that even an airplane was not as fast as Nexus right now, yet she still could not feel anything.
"I am the strongest cultivator of all time. Is protecting someone like you really difficult? Besides, you don't actually need me to protect you. I'm sure that magic bag definitely has something useful inside."
Lailah's magic bag can basically do everything, but she really does not want to become too dependent on it.
"So where are you planning to go now?"
"Hmm… how about sneaking into the private room of some politician who's sleeping and scaring him? Let's let him know who the true supreme ruler of this world is."
Nexus felt that this idea was pretty good. He was free right now, so he was actually capable of going to bother all the most powerful politicians.
Lailah's gentle eyes suddenly glared at Nexus. Doing something evil that could negatively affect the mental health of people carrying responsibility for millions or even more people like this was unacceptable.
"No! If you do that, then I will…"
Lailah really was not good at threatening people. Doing things that seemed evil made her feel very uncomfortable.
"You've got quite a good set of teeth. Want to bite me?"
Nexus's contemptuous gaze, as if he were treating Lailah like a clown putting on a show for him, made even a kind person like Lailah feel annoyed.
She clenched her fist and punched straight into Nexus's groin, but she immediately frowned from the pain in her hand.
For an ordinary person, that might be a weak point, but was Nexus still an ordinary person? Even if his strength was at the Nascent Soul realm, at this realm his body had already evolved for the fourth time.
Every time he broke through a realm, his body underwent a massive evolution, changing completely. Now Nexus only looked human on the outside, but if analyzed more deeply, he was completely different.
"Haha, even an angel knows how to play dirty like that?"
"It's not playing dirty. If we're fighting, isn't hitting the most reasonable weak point the obvious choice? I was even planning to try biting you, but you're too hard, so I had to give up."
Even though she could not deal any damage, Lailah's words still sounded completely natural, as if she had done absolutely nothing wrong. She was not pretending. She really thought that way.
Seeing Lailah say that, Nexus patted her head and laughed. With his current personality, Lailah was a very suitable companion.
"I am the proudest supreme ruler in the world, but that does not mean I don't know how to respect anyone. They may be weak, they may just be ordinary mortals without any special abilities from awakening, but if they can carry such great responsibilities, then of course I won't go and disturb them. But…"
"But what?"
Lailah originally thought Nexus had given up on that ridiculous idea, but Nexus suddenly stopped halfway through speaking, making Lailah frown.
"But if someone takes the initiative to cause trouble for me, you won't stop me, right?"
"Hmm… fine."
Lailah thought for a few seconds before finally nodding. She really did not like Nexus going around causing trouble everywhere, but as long as he did it within limits, she could still reluctantly turn a blind eye to it.
The two 'adults' had already gone far away, leaving the young Mark standing there dumbfounded like an idiot. These past few days, he had constantly experienced one lesson after another, so now that he suddenly had free time and money, he could not adapt for the moment.
"So what should I do now?"
An idea suddenly appeared in Mark's mind to go somewhere and have some fun and relax a little. After living a hard life for so long, he also wanted to experience what it felt like to live like a rich person.
But he immediately shook his head and rejected this thought. Could a useless trash like him really think about having fun? How could he make progress like that?
"No. I have to cultivate."
Even if he cultivated for a week or a year, he would not be able to break through the realm, but at least he could increase the amount of spiritual qi in his body.
Before cultivating, Mark looked around and picked up the bills with the largest denominations scattered across the floor. After all, he was still poor, so he could not imitate Nexus and waste money like that.
For an entire week, Nexus and Lailah went everywhere to have fun. No one followed them because they were invisible while flying. Mark, meanwhile, only cultivated, slept, and ate every day.
