The Only Cultivator in a World of Hunters

Chapter 142: I... I Really... Really...

This hotel had at least a few hundred rooms. Bell carried Lailah around from floor to floor but still couldn’t find Nexus.

"Where the hell is he hiding?"

Lailah frowned. With her way of thinking, no matter how she thought about it, she couldn’t figure out what Nexus was trying to do.

After going through several floors without finding anything, Bell started thinking. There was a low chance that Nexus had actually come here to rent a room. But what if he had simply been accidentally teleported onto the roof of this place and decided to stop here for a while?"

"I think I know where he is."

Bell said that and immediately looked for a way to get to the rooftop. As soon as he arrived, he saw Mark and Nexus standing there. Well, only Nexus was standing, while Mark was lying on his back and gasping for breath.

Bell’s guess just happened to be a coincidence and was completely wrong. Just now, Nexus had noticed that this hotel was quite tall, making it perfect for Mark to climb.

So Nexus and the system made Mark invisible to everyone else, then had him struggle all the way from the ground to the rooftop, and of course, without any safety equipment.

"Looks like we’ve met again, Bell."

Nexus smiled slightly at Bell. Of course he wouldn’t forget the first person on Earth who had helped him so enthusiastically.

The moment he heard the word ’Bell’, Mark immediately jumped up in shock and stared at Bell with a vigilant look.

This action was completely pointless because even if Mark stared until his eyeballs fell out, Bell would still only need one basic punch to knock him out.

"What are you doing here?"

Mark raised his voice. He had no strength to speak of, but with his master by his side, his aura was undeniably overwhelming.

Of course, no one even bothered to look at Mark. Everyone here was a big shot, and he was the only one who looked the most like an NPC.

Seeing that no one was paying attention to him, Mark had to look at everyone instead. He noticed Bell carrying Lailah like a princess and immediately found a topic he could use to attack.

"Hmph, what a bastard. You already have Mia, yet you’re sneaking around with someone else at night. Good, a boyfriend like you is exactly what Mia deserves after everything she did."

Bell had originally planned to treat Mark like a buzzing fly, but it seemed Mark wasn’t willing to behave himself. Of all people to mess with, he just had to target Lailah. He was practically asking to die.

But before Bell could say anything, Lailah had already jumped down and run straight toward Nexus. She jumped up, wrapped her arms around his neck, and locked her legs tightly around his waist.

"Do you know how long I’ve been looking for you?"

Lailah was so happy that she was almost crying now. For her to have been delayed this long yet Nexus still hadn’t done anything to destroy the world was truly a miracle. At least, that was what she thought.

Everyone wasn’t very surprised, but only Mark stood there dumbfounded like an idiot. Then he pointed at Bell’s face and laughed as if he were enjoying someone else’s misfortune.

"Hahaha, serves you right for doing so many bad things. Now your girlfriend is openly cheating on you right in front of your face."

[What a foolish mortal. What made you think Lailah was the girlfriend of a mortal?]

The system looked at Mark helplessly. It seemed that just seeing Bell’s face was enough to make Mark’s intelligence temporarily drop to the level of a mentally disabled person.

As for Lailah, the system didn’t call her a ’mortal’ because with just one glance, it already knew her identity. Even if she was using a mortal body, an angel was still an angel.

"What?"

The system’s sudden words left Mark confused. Before Mark could understand what was happening, a fist as big as his face suddenly appeared right in front of him.

Blood sprayed from Mark’s nose, and his face was punched out of shape. His heavy body slammed straight into the wall before sliding down onto the floor and lying motionless.

"You can’t blame me for this either. Mark was just too stupid."

Having just knocked Mark unconscious with a single punch, Bell casually shrugged at Mark’s master and acted as if he was completely innocent.

[Although you are an arrogant mortal, I agree with you on this. It is better for everyone if Mark stays quiet for the time being.]

The system looked at Bell with a disgusted expression but still agreed with him. As for Nexus, he didn’t care about anything.

To Nexus, Mark’s conflict was Mark’s problem. He was only responsible for teaching, while whatever conflicts there were had absolutely nothing to do with him.

"Why are you so stubbornly looking for me?"

The first time she came looking for Nexus, he had already noticed her. At that time, he wasn’t deliberately hiding from her. He genuinely treated her as if she didn’t exist.

"You’re a guest visiting here, so of course we have to give you a warm welcome. I specially came to Earth to be your tour guide."

As soon as Lailah finished speaking, the system immediately became annoyed. It already looked down on Nexus, so of course it would object when Nexus was receiving special attention from an angel right in front of it.

[Lailah, why are you being his tour guide? He’s just my useless, stupid master. An existence as lowly as him shouldn’t be treated as a guest of heaven.]

The system’s fierce reaction naturally caught Lailah’s attention. With just one glance, she knew exactly where the problem with this system was.

"Do you need me to..."

"No. Michael already asked about it before."

Before she could finish, Nexus already knew that she wanted to help him deal with this completely disobedient system.

[My master has actually progressed this far? Maybe I should reduce how often I call you trash or stupid.]

Although the system’s thinking was seriously messed up, the scene just now was extremely familiar. Lailah’s reaction was no different from when Michael had planned to erase its existence and give Nexus a new system.

"Do you think I need a tour guide?"

Nexus smiled without really smiling, making Lailah flinch. She awkwardly shifted her gaze around repeatedly as she thought about what she should say.

"I... I really... really..." Lailah kept stammering like that for several seconds.
