Chapter 141: Misunderstanding
While running at full speed, Bell still frowned in annoyance at Willis. That old man relied on the fact that he was smart enough to guess Bell wouldn’t hit him, so he just acted however he pleased.
"Damn old man, just wait. One day, I’ll make you so pissed that you’ll be unable to do anything about it."
As he got close to the city area, Bell returned to human form. The outfit he was wearing was made from a special super-stretchy material to avoid having his clothes rip apart every time he transformed.
There was no need to wear something like this at home, but whenever he needed to go somewhere far away, he usually wore it because he didn’t know whether he would have to fight or not.
"Wake up. Take a look and see if we’re almost there yet."
She only needed to be shaken a few times before Lailah woke up perfectly fine as if she had never passed out. This mortal body with an immortality effect was truly impossible to understand by common sense.
"Huh? Ah, give me a moment."
Lailah took out the universal compass and stared at it. On the outside, it looked no different from before, but Lailah could still tell that something was different.
"Hahaha, we’re going in the right direction. Right over there. We just need to run for a little longer, and we’ll find Nexus."
She laughed happily. She had been waiting for this moment for quite a while. Finally, it was time for her to carry out her main mission after coming to Earth.
"Okay."
Bell continued carrying Lailah as he ran. This time, she didn’t pass out because Bell was only running a little faster than a car traveling through the city.
Just as they ran past a hotel, the needle of the universal compass suddenly spun in the opposite direction. Lailah quickly tapped Bell’s arm.
"Hey, you went too far."
Bell immediately stopped and turned around to look. The hotel’s sign had a huge ’69’ printed on it, showing that this hotel seemed to be a place for adults to come and have some fun.
The lights from Hotel 69 were also very strange. They were dim and hazy, making anyone who entered feel as if they had temporarily left reality and stepped into some illusory, dreamlike world.
"It must be this place. Nexus is very close."
Looking at the needle of the universal compass spinning around and around, Lailah’s eyes immediately filled with hope. After waiting for so long, she was finally about to meet him.
Unlike her, Bell’s eyes looked a little strange as he looked at Lailah and then at the hotel. The two of them coming to a place like this at night could really easily cause a misunderstanding.
While Bell was lost in thought, the flash of a phone camera suddenly went off, immediately attracting his attention.
Seeing someone secretly take a picture of him before casually walking away, Bell’s eyelids twitched. Bell wasn’t wearing sunglasses right now, so quite a few people recognized him.
Suddenly, Bell felt like he had the ability to see the future. In that brief moment, he had already seen images of him carrying Lailah spreading across social media along with all kinds of false rumors.
"Hey, why are you spacing out? Hurry up and find Nexus."
Lailah naturally didn’t care about things like that. She patted Bell’s muscular arm to urge him to hurry up. She was worried that if they dragged their feet, they would lose track of Nexus again like last time.
"Okay, okay."
With no other choice, Bell could only sigh. A few false rumors would disappear soon enough. Helping Lailah find Nexus should still take priority over that nonsense.
As soon as the two of them got closer, the automatic door opened by itself. The atmosphere inside was even more dim and hazy than outside. The customers who came here to spend money probably didn’t even know how much they had spent by the time they left.
A young woman with heavy makeup wore an outfit that looked rather conservative but somehow accentuated and even enhanced her figure as if she were wearing nothing at all.
Seeing a man and woman who were both as beautiful as models walk in, a hint of envy flashed through her eyes. But because of her professionalism, she immediately put on a smile.
"Welcome, esteemed guests. May I know what kind of room you’d like to choose? I recommend choosing a VIP room because there are many very interesting things inside for the two of you to have fun."
Bell and Mia had played these kinds of games before, so of course he understood what the receptionist was implying the moment he heard it. Precisely because he understood, Bell’s expression became unpleasant.
As for Lailah, she didn’t care. She wasn’t planning to go into the hotel to sleep, after all. With an absolutely innocent look in her eyes, she looked at the hotel receptionist and said.
"We came here to find him, not to rent a room."
These ordinary words suddenly sounded very strange to the receptionist. From her perspective, she thought that some man had rented a room and was waiting for these two.
"I can’t disclose any information about our customers. Please understand. You can call him and ask him to leave the room to receive you."
"Hey, I’ve put up with you for long enough. Do you believe me when I say I’ll smash this hotel to pieces?"
Bell was genuinely angry now. Looking at the receptionist’s curious yet restrained expression as she tried not to laugh, how could he not guess how far off her thoughts had gone?
Once again transforming into the Wind Wolf King, the terrifying aura released from Bell scared the hotel staff so badly that several of them collapsed to their knees.
There were quite a few hunters among them as well, but they were all low rank. After realizing Bell was S-rank, none of them dared to say even half a word.
"I, I’m sorry, sir. I was blind and didn’t know you came here for work."
The woman was so frightened that she almost cried. Who would come to a place like this to work instead of having fun?
"That’s enough, Bell. Don’t scare them. They only misunderstood us a little."
Lailah only needed to lightly pat Bell a few times before he immediately returned to human form. The others stared in shock at this strange scene.
"Hmph, I’m letting this go for Lailah’s sake. If it weren’t for her, this wouldn’t end so simply."
After snorting, Bell picked Lailah up again and ran upstairs using the stairs because he didn’t know exactly which floor or room Nexus was on.
