Chapter 132: Freeze!
A new spear... no, it was Mark’s old spear. How could the great system possibly let the gift it had given Mark gather dust in some ordinary dungeon?
That familiar feeling once again appeared in Mark’s palm. Compared to giving Mark a new spear, he preferred the spear that had fought alongside him to kill an A-rank boss.
"Countless thanks, oh greatest system in the universe."
Mark happily bowed to the system. This time, he wasn’t acting but was genuinely grateful for the system’s generosity.
[Hahaha, very good. Keep it up like this, mortal.]
The system laughed heartily. It didn’t care whether Mark was sincere or not, it only cared about how much Mark’s actions could satisfy its ego.
"Now that we’re done, let’s go."
As soon as Nexus finished speaking, they immediately disappeared from the hospital room. The destination was above the slope of a mountain.
One side of the city where Mark lived was surrounded by a long mountain range. The other side of the mountain range had been a vast wilderness several decades ago. Now, it was the American Hunter Academy.
The American Hunter Academy had full authority over a vast area that wasn’t limited to the academy campus but also included the large wilderness surrounding it.
The long mountain range where Nexus arrived was no ordinary place either. Hidden inside were many ballistic missile launchers and many other dangerous things. This was also one of the strongest military bases in the United States.
The security system here was definitely among the best in the world. Being surrounded by both modern weapons and hunters in a vast wilderness where it was difficult to hide, anyone with the intention of attacking would have to pay a heavy price.
"Freeze!"
Suddenly, several men in military uniforms with their faces completely covered pointed guns at them, startling Mark.
Mark had never broken the law in his entire life. The police had never even arrested him before, so it wasn’t surprising that being pointed at by the military for the first time could startle him.
Nexus didn’t care. He had been hit by missiles quite a few times before, so why would he care about a few guns?
The number of soldiers kept increasing until it reached twenty, then stopped. Their leader spoke up.
"Why have you appeared here?"
After confirming that their skin was white, the soldiers didn’t immediately open fire... Well, it would have been the same regardless of their skin color.
Racial discrimination had automatically disappeared from this world when hunters appeared. No idiot would discriminate against someone based on race only to anger a hunter and get a faster ’ticket to heaven’.
"We want to go to the academy at the foot of that mountain. I want my disciple to walk down from here along that path."
Everyone looked in the direction Nexus pointed, only to see a completely ordinary trail down the mountain. Mark frowned suspiciously, while the soldiers had similar expressions.
"Wait! We’ll verify your identities, but don’t take that trail. It’s a minefield. Even if you don’t die, if you set everything off, we’ll be the ones who have to deal with this mess."
The captain kept a safe distance and spoke up. Just now, they had clearly seen these two appear out of thin air. As long as they weren’t idiots, they could guess that at least one of them was a very high-rank hunter.
This mountain range had one of the most advanced surveillance systems. For Nexus to suddenly appear like this, the worst case was A-rank, while no one could guess the highest possible rank.
"Don’t worry. I guarantee that no matter how big the explosion is, I’ll return everything to its original state for you."
Nexus smiled. This was a little test he happened to come up with when he saw a trail full of mines.
"Ma... master? You really want me to get blown to death?"
Nexus’s terrifying words immediately made Mark shrink his neck. His body was indeed stronger than an ordinary person’s now, but he would still die if he got hit by a mine.
Mark wasn’t the only one shocked; the other soldiers were too. They had never heard of a high-rank hunter having an ability that could restore mines that had already exploded back to their original state.
There were many aerial surveillance devices in this area. Cameras quickly read Nexus and Mark’s facial data and sent the data to the captain.
"F... F-rank?! Both of them are F-rank? Which bastard put this bullshit information into the database?"
The captain’s eyelids twitched repeatedly. Based on Nexus’s relaxed attitude and the ability he had just displayed, only an idiot would believe that he was F-rank.
Now there was only one explanation. These two were secret personnel, so the Hunter Association had to make fake profiles for them.
The captain signaled to the soldiers with his eyes, telling them to get out of the way. This situation wasn’t something they should interfere with.
"As long as you can restore everything to how it is now, feel free."
The captain made an inviting gesture toward Mark. In Mark’s eyes, this action was no different from inviting him to his death.
"Ma... master..."
Mark swallowed and looked at Nexus. It wasn’t like he had never died before, but facing the unknown path ahead, his body’s survival instinct told him to refuse to seek death.
"Hurry up."
Nexus didn’t give Mark a chance to say much and directly kicked Mark in the butt, sending him rushing forward.
This was a trail down the mountain, so it was naturally extremely steep. With Nexus’s interference, Mark followed his momentum and ran straight into the middle of the minefield.
Deafening explosions rang out. These exceptionally powerful mines sent rocks and dirt flying everywhere, creating a cloud of dust that obscured Mark’s figure.
The soldiers frowned as they looked toward Mark, but there was no way to tell whether he was dead or not because there hadn’t been a single scream.
[What a useless trash. Having a useless mortal like this as the number one disciple of the Cultivation Academy really troubles this great system. Again.]
