The Only Cultivator in a World of Hunters

Chapter 131: Going to the Hunter Academy

Where was Nick now? Of course, he had already run away. It wasn’t that he was a coward, but anyone with a brain would know that staying there would be useless.

After making an emergency call to the Hunter Association, the chairman told him to stay as far away as possible, so he was no longer anywhere near the hospital.

"Good grief, I’m only a B-rank, so why do I keep running into all kinds of terrifying things?"

Nick stood on the roof of an apartment building, looking down at the hospital. As a B-rank hunter, he was now panting heavily because he had been running at full speed this whole time.

Just as he had no idea what to do next, a call from the Hunter Association came in, leaving him stunned.

"Hey, are you kidding me? The internship is just over like this?"

Nick jumped up, but no one on the other end of the phone responded to him. So angry that he didn’t know what to do, Nick stomped his foot and cracked a tile.

"Hmph, whatever. At least I know how Kael died now. Next, I guess I’ll just go back to the Hunter Academy and continue studying for a while."

He was originally a student of the American Hunter Academy, but recently he had asked for permission to leave and do an internship to experience the real world a little.

Inside the hospital room, only Nexus, the system, and Mark remained. Mark now noticed that Ziz had disappeared.

"Where did Ziz go?"

[Hmph, that damn fat black chicken went to enjoy a long vacation at the Hunter Association headquarters. Don’t think that black chicken got lucky. The price for this is becoming White’s pet.]

As soon as this was mentioned, the system immediately observed inside the Hunter Association headquarters. Sure enough, Ziz was still enjoying his life there, making the system furious.

Feeling that the system’s reaction was too much, which wasn’t right, Mark knew better than to continue talking about this topic. Instead, he looked toward Nexus.

"Master, what do we do now? Are we just going to rest and wait for lesson number four?"

As soon as he asked this question, Mark’s heart immediately started trembling. Who knew what crazy thing was waiting for him ahead?

"Having a positive attitude is good, but you don’t need to learn anything else for now. Just focus on cultivating. Now we’re preparing to go to a better place for you to train."

Hearing the first part, Mark breathed a sigh of relief, but when he heard the latter part, he was startled. Was this "better place" really that good?

Mark had already imagined scenes of raging oceans, erupting volcanoes, or dangerous jungles in his head.

"It’s not any of the things you’re thinking of. It’s the American Hunter Academy."

"What?!"

Mark was so shocked that his eyes went wide. That top academy for training hunters... Did a poor F-rank like him really have the right to go there?

On average, the lowest rank among the students there was C-rank. Moreover, if you were a C-rank, you had to be very rich to be able to pay your way into the academy. There were B-ranks everywhere, and A-ranks were not uncommon either. Only S-ranks were rare and hard to find.

Although Nexus’s identity was very special, Mark didn’t think he could enter the main gate of the American Hunter Academy openly with his master.

Even though Nexus was very strong, what everyone knew was that he was an F-rank. Mark was also an F-rank. What could the two biggest "jokes" in the hunter world possibly be doing at the most prestigious Hunter Academy in the world?

For the academy’s reputation, there was no way the principal would allow it, unless they used connections to get in through the back door.

"Master, you’re not planning to have the system use some mind-wiping power or something to change the memories of the entire world again, are you?"

[Hmph, how dare you plot to abuse the system’s great power again? I know you can only helplessly beg me for help when you’re in trouble, but power isn’t something you can use however you want.]

The system immediately objected. If it dared to use its power indiscriminately, Michael would definitely take it away and destroy it.

"No need to think too much. We have a recommendation letter written by White. White’s reputation should be fine, right?"

Nexus wasn’t very sure either. White’s recommendation letter was both reliable and unreliable. If it was given to the wrong person, it would definitely be no different from a piece of scrap paper.

"Recommendation letter?"

Mark’s eyelids twitched a few times. He didn’t know whether this method would work or not, because this wasn’t one of the publicly available ways to recruit students at the American Hunter Academy.

"Where are we, anyway?"

Only now did Mark notice that this hospital was very strange. The scenery outside was just as strange, and it didn’t look like the city he lived in.

"That city with the Hunter Association headquarters. It’s only more than a thousand miles away from your place, so teleporting there won’t take any time."

Nexus thought Mark was worried about the trip, so he immediately signaled that there was no problem at all.

"You’re... you’re kidding, right?"

Although Mark knew that both the system and Nexus possessed terrifying powers that defied common sense, suddenly appearing somewhere thousands of miles away in the blink of an eye was still really hard to process immediately.

"Let’s go."

Nexus grabbed Mark’s shoulder, but Mark remembered something and immediately shook his head before looking around the room.

"Where’s my spear? Where’s the precious spear that Lord System gave me?"

Mark pulled at his hair, looking panicked as if that spear were made of gold. Naturally, acting this hard was just to make the system happy.

That spear had definitely been left behind inside the dungeon after Mark’s final full-power attack. He had even lost his right arm back then, so what was strange about losing a spear?

Now that he had no weapon, Mark’s combat power had dropped drastically. He was only acting like this because he wanted to get another spear to use.

[Hahaha, good, very good. A lowly mortal like you cherishing my gift like this makes me extremely satisfied. Although you’re a useless piece of trash, you went looking for the spear I gave you not long after opening your eyes. That’s truly a praiseworthy action. Since that’s the case, I can’t let you search for nothing.]

Mark acted one part, while the system imagined three. The more it imagined, the deeper it sank into the damn satisfaction it had made up for itself.
