INFINITE MEMORIES : MY F-RANK SKILL IS ACTUALLY THE STRONGEST

Chapter 111: OBSIDIAN CITADEL

<Chapter - 111 The Obsidian Citadel>

The Diamond Archive Core integrated into Noah Kurtz’s meridians not with a violent tremor, but with the tranquil, expansive clarity of a newborn star.

Beneath the towering diamond-glass dome of the Emerald Grand Pavilion on Vega, the crystalline motes of light slowly settled like prismatic snow upon the white-marble terrace. The Diamond Seraph Warden maintained its reverent bow, its six translucent wings shielding the threshold of the unsealed vault while ancient agricultural and gravitational schematics hummed quietly through Noah’s mind.

Noah stood on the obsidian dais, his posture completely relaxed, dark woolen coat resting loosely over his shoulders. Pinned over his left lapel, the ironwood leaf brooch absorbed the celestial diamond hues, pulsing in steady, unbroken rhythm with his heart. Underneath his sleeves, his black ironwood forearm guards circulated his newly upgraded 3.75% Diamond Authority.

Beside him, her pale hands still resting gently over his shoulders, was Rin Asakura.

Rin’s lavender kimono rustled softly in the sweet, floral breeze of the pavilion. Her crystalline violet eyes looked up into Noah’s steel-gray gaze with an unconditional, radiant warmth that lit up her entire face. Her lips were soft and flushed, carrying the quiet, lingering sweetness of their kiss beneath the diamond vault.

Slowly, Rin leaned her cheek against the hollow of his shoulder, her arms wrapping securely around his neck as she took a deep, contented breath of celestial jasmine.

"The galaxy is vast, Noah..." Rin whispered softly, her melodic, formal cadence carrying an intimate sweetness that touched his ear. "Yet when I am in your arms, the stars feel close enough to touch."

Noah gently wrapped his right arm around her slender waist, holding her close against his chest with quiet, unyielding protection. He raised his left hand, his warm fingers brushing a stray strand of dark silk hair behind her ear.

"You don’t have to reach for them anymore, Rin," Noah spoke softly, his flat, rasping whisper carrying the ancient calm of a sovereign. "They belong to our path now."

Rin turned her violet eyes up toward his profile, a serene, breathtaking smile curving her pale lips. She slid her left hand down his arm until her delicate fingers entwined smoothly with his right palm, interlocking their hands in an unbreakable grip.

A short distance away beneath the ironwood fig arbors, Jiho Park was sitting on an overturned stone planter, contentedly balancing a hollowed-out celestial melon shell on his lap.

The massive S-Rank Juggernaut had eaten half the truck-sized fruit and was currently using a flat wooden paddle to scoop out giant, glowing golden chunks of sweet melon meat into his mouth. His faded, scuffed slide sandals were kicked off onto the grass, his thick toes digging happily into the soft, fragrant moss.

"Man," Jiho mumbled around a mouthful of nectar, letting out a deep, soul-shaking sigh of pure bliss. "Master, that kiss looked pretty dramatic under the shiny diamond roof. But this melon... this melon is the true treasure of the 14th Cycle. I’ve decided that whatever galaxy we conquer next, we have to plant melon trees first."

Chloe Harrington strolled past the marble pool, laughing as she tossed her silver coin in a high, glittering arc.

Clink. Snap.

She wore her dark leather duster over her shoulders, her dead platinum revolvers resting quietly in their holsters. Her amber eyes held a sharp, rebellious gleam as she looked at Jiho.

"Jiho, you’ve been eating for two straight hours," Chloe said, shaking her head with an amused smirk. "If the Hegemony’s Grand Archons attack us right now, you’re going to roll at them like a giant bowling ball instead of jumping."

"Rolling is a valid tactical maneuver, Chloe," Jiho grunted with absolute, immovable seriousness, taking another paddle-full of sweet melon. "Heavy physical density plus momentum equals total destruction."

"He’s not wrong," Alistair Vance shouted, sprinting down the marble pathway from the landing skiff.

Alistair had a portable holographic projector strapped to his left forearm and was clutching an oversized brass thermos of cold-brewed Vega starlight tea in his right. His glasses were perpetually crooked, his wild hair standing up in every direction from pure, ecstatic intellectual overload.

"Boss! Boss! The Diamond Archive integration didn’t just update your authority index!" Alistair yelled, sliding to a halt beside the obsidian dais and typing furiously with one hand. "The sub-space resonant frequency from the Diamond Core just sent a harmonic ping across the fourth quadrant! Look at the triangulation on the Emperor’s Legacy Map!"

Alistair tapped his forearm projector, casting a three-dimensional starry holographic map into the warm air of the pavilion.

In the center of the dark quadrant, floating within a dense field of null-space asteroid belts, was a colossal, jagged world forged entirely from black volcanic obsidian and starlight iron: The Obsidian Citadel of the Twelve Vassals.

"The ping broke their external cloaking ward!" Alistair gasped, his eyes wide behind his lenses. "The Citadel is an impenetrable orbital fortress five times the size of Orion-9! For three thousand years, the Celestial Hegemony and the Three Grand Theocracies have tried to crack the stasis wards around the lower throne room. But because the Citadel requires Diamond Sovereign Authority to unlock the master seals, the twelve ancient generals have slept in undisturbed cryogenic hibernation!"

Alistair leaned in, lowering his voice to a frantic, reverent whisper. "Boss... those aren’t ordinary soldiers. Those twelve Vassals were the apex commanders of the 14th Cycle. Each one commands an ancient legion of Ashen Ironclads!"

Noah Kurtz looked at the pulsing obsidian node on the star-map. His steel-gray eyes narrowed with sharp, ancient clarity.

"They’ve slept long enough," Noah spoke flatly, his slouching posture shifting with quiet, decisive resolve.

Beside him, Rin stepped smoothly to his side, her violet eyes burning with lethal, serene focus. Her left hand remained firmly linked in Noah’s palm, her right hand resting naturally upon the hilt of her wooden practice sword.

Through Asura’s Touch intertwined with her unsealed void-sight, Rin felt the distant, sleeping heartbeats of the Citadel—twelve immense, dormant titans waiting for the call of their master.

"The soldiers are waiting, Noah," Rin murmured softly, her breath warm against his sleeve, her lips curving into a radiant, devoted smile. "Let us wake our Vanguard."

Noah gently squeezed her hand, turning toward the landing skiff.

"Jiho, pack the rest of your melon into the duffel bag," Noah commanded smoothly. "Alistair, spool the jump-drive for the Obsidian Citadel. Chloe, calibrate the entry vectors."

"Got the melon secured, Master!" Jiho cheered, hoisting a massive canvas bag loaded with three hundred pounds of fruit over his shoulder with effortless strength.

"Plotting jump-coordinates through the Diamond Slipstream, Boss!" Alistair yelled, sprinting back up the ramp.

"Probability lines are opening wide," Chloe smirked, spinning her revolvers with a crisp, lethal click as she boarded the skiff.

One hour later, the Grand Eclipse dropped out of sub-space on the outer perimeter of the null-space asteroid belt.

Through the forward panoramic viewport of the command bridge, the Obsidian Citadel rose like a titanic, black mountain floating in the center of a silent starfield. Its jagged battlements stretched for fifty miles, carved from pre-Cataclysm black ironwood and reinforced with glowing, diamond-veined kinetic shields that pulsed in rhythmic, ancient resonance with Noah’s presence.

As the Grand Eclipse approached the central docking maw, twelve colossal, diamond-etched blast doors groaned, sliding open without resistance as they recognized the Ashen Sovereign’s Master Syntax.

The Vanguard landed inside the grand subterranean atrium of the Citadel.

The air inside the fortress was sub-zero, dry, and thick with the heavy tang of raw, frozen history. Standing in a massive, circular formation around the central Sovereign Dais were twelve towering, thirty-foot stasis sarcophagi forged from black iron and starlight crystal.

Inside each sarcophagus, bathed in pale blue cryogenic light, lay an armored general of the 14th Cycle—monolithic warriors clad in jagged Ashen armor, their hands resting on the hilts of colossal greatswords, halberds, and kinetic lances.

Noah Kurtz walked smoothly down the center of the icy aisle, his hands shoved deep into his coat pockets, boots clicking rhythmically against the frozen obsidian floor.

Beside him, her hand linked securely in his right palm, walked Rin Asakura. Her violet eyes swept across the frozen giants with quiet, breathtaking awe, her heartbeat steady and synchronized with Noah’s pulse.

Noah stopped at the base of the central Sovereign Dais. He took his right hand out of Rin’s grip for a brief moment, stepping onto the raised platform.

Noah placed his bare palm against the central command obelisk. Pinned to his lapel, the ironwood leaf brooch flared with blinding, diamond-white radiance.

Circulate.

Underneath his sleeves, Noah’s black ironwood forearm guards hummed in absolute resonance. Inside his spine, his 3.75% Diamond Authority unlocked the master cryogenic release protocol.

[Ashen Cabinet Awakening Protocol: Execute]

CLANK-HISS—!

Across the circular hall, all twelve stasis sarcophagi hissed violently as pressurized cryogenic mist vented into the chamber.

The blue stasis lights shifted into a brilliant, reverent shade of imperial gold.

One by one, the twelve colossal sarcophagi swung open.

The twelve armored titans opened their eyes—burning with brilliant, loyal golden flames. Slowly, with the thunderous, echoing crash of thirty-foot armor moving in perfect, ancient unison, all twelve Ashen Generals dropped to one knee before the Sovereign Dais, bowing their massive heads until their foreheads touched the frozen obsidian floor.

Leading the twelve, a towering general clad in jagged dragon-scale plate armor—General Ignis, Vanguard of the Black Flame—raised his deep, reverberating voice that shook the foundation of the fifty-mile fortress:

"THREE THOUSAND YEARS WE HAVE SLEPT IN THE COLD DARK, MASTER OF THE ASHEN CABINET. THE TWELVE VASSALS AWAIT YOUR COMMAND. LEAD US AGAINST THE HEGEMONY!"

The entire fortress echoed with the thunderous roar of twelve ancient generals pledging their eternal lives to the Ashen Throne.

Noah Kurtz stood on the dais, his slouching posture relaxed, his steel-gray eyes cold, clinical, and ancient.

He stepped down from the platform, walking back to where Rin stood waiting. Rin looked up at him, her violet eyes luminous with boundless pride, devotion, and love. She reached out naturally, sliding her pale fingers back into his palm, leaning her cheek gently against his arm.

"Your army has awakened, Noah..." Rin murmured softly, her melodic voice filled with sweet, radiant certainty.

Noah looked down at her beautiful face, feeling the warmth of her presence anchoring his soul in the light of the new era. He gently squeezed her hand, turning his gaze toward the Twelve Vassals.

"Roll call is finished, Generals," Noah spoke. "Arm your legions. We march on the Celestial Hegemony."
