THE BOYS: The Wrong Main Character

Chapter 89 - 90 : Hollow Purple

After satisfying his curiosity about the Eight Gates, Mark decided he’d tested his physical strength enough.

"Time to stop playing."

He released the Fourth Gate. The pressure surrounding his body disappeared as he raised two fingers.

"Cursed Technique Reversal..."

Unlike Blue, which amplified the concept of attraction and pulled everything toward a single point, Red was born by pouring positive energy into Limitless. Pure repulsion. An overwhelming force that violently rejected everything in front of it.

A crimson sphere condensed at his fingertips. "...Red."

The orb shot forward.

BOOM.

The entire corridor disappeared. Concrete, steel, shattered hospital beds, and every curse caught in its path were erased beneath the violent repulsive force. The shockwave continued straight through the hospital, blasting a tunnel from one end to the other before exploding out the opposite wall.

Several Grade 4 curses hiding in nearby rooms were blown apart before they understood what had happened.

Mark looked down the ruined hallway. "...Huh."

Then he flicked another Red.

Another explosion. A staircase vanished. The ceiling collapsed. Half the eastern wing folded inward as curses hiding inside were crushed beneath thousands of tons of concrete.

Mark walked forward without slowing down.

"Red." Boom. Another corridor ceased to exist.

"Red." Boom. The intensive care ward exploded into rubble.

"Red." Boom. The emergency entrance disappeared beneath shattered concrete and twisted steel.

Every curse caught by the attacks dissolved instantly. Unlike before, these were true exorcisms — the positive energy produced through Cursed Technique Reversal annihilated cursed spirits the moment the repulsive force struck them.

Within less than a minute, the abandoned hospital looked as though it had been hit by artillery fire. Entire floors collapsed, outer walls missing, smoke and dust pouring from the remains.

Mark stepped over the rubble, casually brushing dust from his jacket. "I think..." He looked around. "...I might’ve overdone it a little."

The weaker curses had been completely erased, and after firing Red repeatedly through the building, he was certain even the Grade 1 curse had been caught in the destruction. "Mission complete."

He landed on a cracked section of concrete.

Then —

BOOM.

The mountain of rubble exploded apart. Chunks of concrete shot into the air as something massive burst out from beneath the collapsed hospital.

A gigantic caterpillar-like curse, easily over twenty meters long, reared into the sky. Its body was covered in swollen tumors while countless human faces protruded from its flesh, each one silently screaming.

Its circular mouth split open into layers of jagged teeth as black saliva poured onto the ground, melting the concrete wherever it landed.

The creature let out an inhuman roar and lunged straight toward Mark.

Mark shifted one step to the side.

The enormous jaws snapped shut where he had been a fraction of a second earlier. The curse smashed through the remains of the building before burrowing back through the rubble like an earthworm.

Mark lightly jumped into the air. "Hmm..." He looked down at the monster circling beneath him. "So this is the Grade 1. It definitely feels stronger."

The curse erupted upward again, massive jaws swallowing toward him.

Mark calmly brought his hands together. "Technique Amplification..."

Within his body, the two opposing aspects of Limitless began to circulate simultaneously. Blue — the force of attraction. Red — the force of repulsion. The two impossibly opposite phenomena compressed together instead of canceling each other out. For a brief instant, space itself trembled.

Between his fingertips, a tiny sphere of deep violet appeared. Silent. Perfectly stable. Yet everything around it distorted as if reality itself rejected its existence.

"Hollow Technique..."

A faint smile appeared on his face. "...Purple."

The violet sphere left his fingertips.

No explosion. No blinding flash. It simply moved forward.

The Grade 1 curse instinctively sensed danger and twisted its enormous body, trying to burrow back beneath the rubble.

Too late.

The moment Hollow Purple touched the curse’s head — it disappeared. Simply ceased to exist. The sphere continued forward without slowing, erasing everything in its path.

The remains of the hospital vanished as though they had never existed. Concrete, steel, shattered walls, support pillars, even the ground itself were swallowed as the technique carved a perfectly straight trench across the landscape for hundreds of meters before gradually fading into the distance.

Silence fell over the area. The wind carried away the remaining dust.

Mark floated down and landed at the edge of the trench. "...Damn." He looked from one end of the destruction to the other. "So this is Hollow Purple."

He scratched his cheek. "I think Satomi is going to be more angry about the property damage than happy about the mission."

He looked at the trench one more time before opening his phone. "...Well. Might as well report it."

He pressed Satomi’s contact and waited.

"Done already?" Satomi asked after a few rings.

"Yeah."

"The Grade 1?"

"Exorcised."

"Good."

Mark scratched the back of his head, looking at the scene in front of him. "...There is one small problem."

Satomi was silent for a moment. "...I’m listening."

"So... while fighting it..." He glanced at the massive crater where the abandoned hospital used to stand. "...the hospital is gone."

"..."

"...Satomi?"

Several seconds of silence.

"...Gone?"

"Yeah."

Another brief silence. "Well... it doesn’t really matter. That hospital was already abandoned." She paused. "You put up the veil before going in, right?"

"Yep."

"Good."
