THE BOYS: The Wrong Main Character

Chapter 86 - 87 : Targeted

The next morning, Satomi removed the seals restraining Yuji and brought him to the hospital.

Inside one of the rooms, Sasaki sat beside Iguchi’s bed with her head lowered. The moment she saw Yuji, she stood up.

"Itadori!"

Relief appeared on her face before guilt quickly replaced it. "I’m... I’m sorry. If I hadn’t taken that thing from school, none of this would’ve happened."

Yuji shook his head. "No, I gave you that." His smile became a little awkward. "So don’t blame yourself."

Tears welled in Sasaki’s eyes. "The doctors said his body’s fine... but he still won’t wake up."

"Don’t worry." Yuji remembered what Satomi had told him. "He’ll wake up soon."

Sasaki looked at him in surprise. "Really?"

"Yeah."

The worry on her face eased slightly. After staying a little while longer, Yuji quietly left with Satomi.

As they walked through the streets , neither spoke for several minutes.

Yuji finally broke the silence. "...Are there really that many people killed by curses?"

"There are." Satomi kept her hands in her pockets. "Most people never even realize what killed them. They disappear, they’re found dead, or they simply become another unexplained accident."

Yuji looked down. "So dying normally... is actually lucky."

"If someone encounters a curse without a sorcerer nearby, surviving is the exception."

They eventually arrived at a crematorium. Yuji silently accepted the small urn containing his grandfather’s ashes and held it carefully with both hands.

For several moments he simply stood there without speaking. Satomi waited quietly.

After paying his respects, Yuji finally turned around. "I’m ready."

Satomi reached into her pocket and took out another wrapped object. Inside was Sukuna’s second finger.

"This is your choice."

Yuji nodded. "It is." He stared at it. "...It still looks disgusting."

Satomi couldn’t help smiling. "That’s your biggest concern?"

"It really is."

Without hesitating further, he shoved the finger into his mouth. His face twisted immediately. "...Ugh!" He forced himself to swallow. "That’s... the worst thing I’ve ever eaten."

Satomi watched him closely.

Seconds passed.

Yuji remained standing. His cursed energy spiked before settling almost immediately. He slowly opened one eye. "...That’s it?"

No loss of control. No struggle for dominance. No manifestation of Sukuna.

Yuji had suppressed the King of Curses once again. Even among the records preserved by Jujutsu Society, no vessel had demonstrated such overwhelming control.

Satomi let out a quiet breath. "...Incredible."

The higher-ups had only seen a dangerous vessel. She was beginning to see something far rarer — someone who might accomplish what no sorcerer had managed in the last thousand years.

After that,

Yuji followed Satomi along the mountain path toward Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical High School.

Hidden deep within the forest, the campus appeared to be an ordinary religious academy. In reality, it was one of only two jujutsu schools in Japan.

Yuji scratched his head as he looked around. "So... are jujutsu sorcerers really that rare?"

"Most people can’t even see curses," Satomi answered.

"Among those who can, only a small number have the talent to become sorcerers. Fewer still are born with an innate cursed technique — what allows a sorcerer to fight effectively against powerful curses."

"So how many classmates do I have?"

Satomi smiled. "Three, including you."

Yuji blinked. "...Seriously?"

"Jujutsu sorcerers are rare. This isn’t a normal high school.

They continued walking until another question crossed Yuji’s mind. "Was Sukuna really that strong?"

Satomi’s smile disappeared. "For over a thousand years, he has been known as the undisputed King of Curses."

"More than a thousand years ago, during the Golden Age of Jujutsu, the strongest sorcerers of that era challenged him." A brief pause.

"They lost."

Yuji’s eyes widened.

"After Sukuna died, they still couldn’t destroy his body."

"All they could do was seal what remained. His twenty fingers became special-grade cursed objects — they haven’t decayed, can’t be destroyed, and continue attracting curses wherever they exist."

Yuji looked down at his own hand. "...I’ve already eaten two of them."

"That’s why the higher-ups fear you. You’re carrying fragments of the strongest curse in history, yet somehow keeping him under control."

Yuji forced a laugh. "When you put it like that... it sounds a lot scarier."

"It is. That’s why no one has attempted something like this in over a thousand years."

As they continued through the school grounds, Satomi spotted a familiar figure approaching from the opposite direction. "Oh, I missed you!" She ran toward Mark with a bright smile.

Mark calmly sidestepped at the last second. Satomi ran right past him before awkwardly stopping herself.

"...You did that on purpose."

"I did."

Mark’s attention shifted to the pink-haired boy standing nearby. "Oh, you brought this guy." He let out a quiet sigh. Well... the peace lasted two whole days. Better than I expected.

Before Yuji could introduce himself, a mouth suddenly split open on his left cheek.

"So..." Sukuna sneered, one eye opening beside it. "I finally meet you." His gaze locked onto Mark. "You filthy maggot. The moment I take control of this brat’s body, you’ll be the first one I kill."

Without changing his expression, Yuji raised his hand and smacked his own cheek. "Shut up."

The mouth flattened from the impact.

Satomi watched with interest. "...Can he just do that?"

Yuji rubbed his cheek. "Yeah. Sometimes he pops out when I’m not concentrating."

"So you can suppress him whenever you’re aware of it."

"Pretty much."

Mark looked back and forth between the two of them. "...Ummm." He pointed at Yuji. "What did he just say?" He scratched his head awkwardly — Japanese was still completely beyond him.

Satomi smiled pleasantly. "He said he wanted to skin you alive."
