THE BOYS: The Wrong Main Character

Chapter 32 : Simulation

Mark tore through the sky with barely any control over his own movements.

The transformation still hadn’t settled properly, and the overload inside his head kept intensifying every passing second.

It felt unbearable.

Blood ran slowly from his nose before more followed from his ears, staining the side of his face while he struggled to focus.

He tried stabilizing himself midair, but every attempt only made the pain worse. Using cursed energy instinctively was far more complicated than firing optic blasts. The amount of calculations happening inside his head felt endless.

Then he finally realized where he was.

Ocean.

Far below him stretched dark water instead of buildings and streets.

Mark’s breathing became uneven as another pulse of pain hit him hard enough to blur his vision entirely.

That was the breaking point.

His control collapsed.

The air around him distorted briefly before his body dropped straight downward and smashed into the sea with explosive force, disappearing beneath the surface in a violent eruption of water.

As Mark slowly sank deeper into the ocean, his mind immediately started cursing the system with every bit of energy he had left.

’You piece of shit,’ he snapped internally. ’Did you see what that just did to me?’

[I did nothing.]

Mark almost laughed from pure frustration.

’That’s the fucking problem!’ he shot back. ’If you’re gonna dump something like this into my head, maybe warn me first instead of letting my brain melt itself!’

Blood drifted through the water around him while he slowly continued sinking.

’Do you even understand what that felt like?’ he continued angrily. ’My head almost turned into soup because of those eyes and now I’m literally drowning down here.’

The system stayed silent for a moment.

Mark clenched his teeth.

’If you know a template comes with side effects like this,’ he growled internally, ’then maybe put a damn warning label on it next time.’

[You cannot blame me. I did nothing wrong.]

Mark almost choked from irritation even underwater.

[You spun the gacha. You accepted the template. You are solely responsible for your own decisions.]

’Oh, spare me the lecture about responsibility,’ Mark snapped internally. ’I’m currently sinking into the ocean bleeding out of my face because my brain got overloaded by magical anime genetics.’

’Just tell me if there’s a way to stop this,’ he continued. ’Because at this rate I genuinely feel like I’m about to become brain dead.’

Then another thought suddenly hit him.

Mark’s expression shifted slightly.

’...Wait.’

He frowned internally.

’Shouldn’t I already be brain dead?’

The Six Eyes weren’t normal.

In Jujutsu Kaisen, ordinary people literally could not handle that level of perception. The amount of information processed through those eyes was absurd enough to destroy a normal mind almost instantly.

Which meant—

[Because you also received Satoru Gojo’s mental processing ability.]

Mark went still for a second underwater.

[Your brain is currently adapting itself to filter unnecessary information.]

That explained why he was still conscious at all.

Without that adaptation, his mind probably would have collapsed the moment the template integrated.

Mark grimaced.

’Okay... so how long is this adaptation supposed to take?’

[At least one year.]

Mark nearly inhaled seawater from pure disbelief.

’What the fuck do you mean by one year?!’

The system answered calmly.

[Satoru Gojo was born with both the Six Eyes.]

[From childhood onward, his brain naturally developed around those abilities while gradually learning to process increasing levels of information.]

[You, meanwhile, received the completed version at its peak instantly.]

Mark stared blankly into the dark ocean.

The system continued.

[You skipped the entire growth process and jumped directly to the final stage.]

That suddenly sounded significantly more horrifying.

’So what, I’m supposed to stay at the bottom of the ocean evolving like some depressed fish?’ Mark shot back internally. ’What is this? Some insane Disney movie where I become a mermaid by emotional growth?’

The system ignored the sarcasm completely.

[There is another method.]

Mark immediately focused.

[You may spend 200,000 popularity points to experience a simulation process for the template.]

[This method is considered accelerated adaptation.]

Mark blinked slowly underwater.

’...Wait.’

’Why the fuck am I only hearing about this now?’

[Most templates do not require adaptation assistance.]

[Only highly complex templates possess simulation functions.]

That honestly sounded exactly like something the system should have explained beforehand.

Mark rubbed at his forehead tiredly even while sinking deeper into the dark water.

’So you’re telling me you watched me nearly turn brain dead and only now decided to mention the emergency option?’

The system stayed silent for a second.

Mark narrowed his eyes.

’You are genuinely a terrible support system.’

[I am a gacha system. Not emotional support.]

Mark immediately cursed it again.

Then he exhaled slowly.

Honestly, arguing further was pointless.

He could already feel his brain struggling harder the longer this continued. The Six Eyes were still feeding information into his mind nonstop, and even with Gojo’s processing ability helping him adapt, the strain felt dangerous.

’Fine,’ he muttered internally. ’Then what the hell are you waiting for?’

He closed his eyes briefly.

’Do it.’
