Chapter 201: Ch 201- Shadowspawn
As Mo Yuan lay unconscious in the endless darkness of the Shadow Realm, the wild Blood Saber Intent surrounding him finally began to calm down.
The crimson mist slowly shrank, gathering around his body before retreating into him completely.
However, the moment the Blood Saber Intent disappeared, another power began to spread.
It was pitch-black, darker than the surrounding darkness itself. Wherever it passed, even the endless darkness of the Shadow Realm seemed to become brighter in comparison. The strange power covered Mo Yuan’s entire body, enveloping him like a cocoon.
Then, something unbelievable happened.
Mo Yuan’s body began to change.
His original height of 1.9 meters slowly decreased. His arms and legs shrank, his body became smaller and in just a few moments, he had transformed into a figure only 1.3 meters tall but that was only the beginning.
The black dot on his wrist suddenly spread like a drop of ink falling into water. Black lines rushed across his skin, covering his arms, chest, legs and finally his entire head. Within moments, his whole body had turned pitch-black.
His facial features disappeared completely. His nose, mouth and ears were gone, leaving behind a smooth, featureless face that looked like a patch of darkness given human shape.
Even his blonde hair had turned completely black.
Two tiny horns appeared on his head. They were little more than small bumps, so insignificant that they were almost impossible to notice unless someone looked closely.
Soon, the transformation came to an end.
Mo Yuan’s entire body had become black, blending perfectly with the surrounding darkness. The only exception was his wrist.
The black dot that had once rested there had turned pure white and just like that, Mo Yuan remained motionless in the Shadow Realm.
No one knew how much time passed.
Perhaps a few hours. Perhaps several days.
Then, suddenly, his fingers twitched.
Mo Yuan’s body stirred before his eyes slowly opened.
He sat up and looked around, only to find himself in a deserted wasteland. There was no vegetation, no water and no sign of life. The barren land stretched endlessly in every direction.
He raised his head.
The sky was completely dark.
Mo Yuan stared at it for several seconds before finally speaking.
"What just happened? Where am I?"
He rubbed his head, trying to recall the events before losing consciousness.
"Didn’t I lose control after my Blood Saber Intent went berserk because of my breakthrough in Boundless Saber Art?"
His memories gradually returned but before he could think any further, his passive True Sight Talent activated. At the same time, his Origin Sense spread out, covering his surroundings.
His expression suddenly froze.
"What the fuck happened to me?!"
Mo Yuan stared at his own hands.
They were completely black.
He touched his face but there was no nose, no mouth and no other facial features. Even his hair had disappeared, replaced by a smooth black surface.
Most importantly, his entire body had shrunk!
He hurriedly stood up and realized that he was barely 1.3 meters tall.
"How did I become a dwarf?!"
He immediately called out his Copy and Paste Talent, desperate to find an explanation.
The familiar information appeared before his eyes. His existing talents were still there and none of them seemed to have disappeared.
However, something new had appeared at the top of the panel.
Human/Shadowspawn [1★] - Mo Yuan
Current Race: Shadowspawn (Can change at will)
Mo Yuan stared at the information in disbelief.
"Shadowspawn?"
Before he could make sense of it, another notification appeared.
Congratulations on unlocking a new feature: Racial Transformation!
Congratulations on acquiring the Shadowspawn Bloodline!
You can switch between your available races at will.
Mo Yuan’s eyes widened.
A new feature?
A bloodline?
For the first time since acquiring Copy and Paste, he had seen something completely new appear on his panel and the notifications were not finished yet.
New Talent Acquired!
Shadow Blessing: Unique Grade [Passive/Active]
Effect: Becomes stronger as the Shadowspawn’s Star Rank increases.
Mo Yuan fell silent.
"Unique Grade?"
He looked at the talent panel again, then rubbed his featureless face as if that would somehow help him understand the situation.
"First, I turn into some kind of shadow creature. Then I unlock a new feature and acquire a Unique Grade Talent. What exactly happened while I was unconscious?"
He had countless questions but naturally, the panel provided no answers.
Just as he was about to investigate the new talent, another stream of information entered his mind.
Mo Yuan carefully read through it and his shock grew with every passing second.
"So, Shadow Blessing gives me a twofold boost to my strength, speed and soul-related abilities when I’m in darkness?"
He paused.
"And it works independently of my other multipliers?"
That was the most important part.
If his understanding was correct, the talent’s boost would stack with his existing talents and techniques rather than replace them.
However, the talent had one obvious limitation. It only worked in darkness. Under strong light, its effects would disappear completely.
Even so, Mo Yuan could not hide his excitement.
"Two times to all three attributes and it stacks with my other boosts. That’s incredible!"
He quickly calmed himself down and began analyzing the situation.
’I’m currently inside the Shadow Realm. Since I’ve acquired the Shadowspawn Bloodline, I can now see this place clearly. That should be a passive effect of my new race. As for the active ability, Shadow Blessing is probably only part of what this bloodline can do.’
He glanced at the star beside Shadowspawn.
’One star means I’ve only just acquired this bloodline but how do I increase my Star Rank? The panel doesn’t say anything about that.’
Mo Yuan sighed.
There were too many mysteries to solve at once.
Then, his gaze fell on his wrist, the black dot was gone. In its place was a small white dot.
His expression became serious.
’This is definitely related to that bull and that mysterious black creature.’
But how had it managed to change his race?
"Forget it. I’ll investigate later."
Mo Yuan suddenly remembered something else.
"What happened to my Blood Saber Intent?"
He focused his mind and carefully sensed the power within his body.
A moment later, he froze.
"Wait. It upgraded too?!"
Previously, his Blood Saber Intent had provided a twofold boost. Now, it had become fourfold and according to the information he received, it could still continue growing stronger as he absorbed more blood.
Mo Yuan was stunned for a moment before excitement filled his heart.
He raised his hand and the Blood Saber Intent gathered around him. A dark crimson saber slowly manifested in front of him, its blade giving off a terrifying aura.
He reached out and grasped its hilt.
Unlike before, when his Blood Saber Intent had gone out of control, he felt completely stable. Even after holding the manifested saber, he remained calm.
His new body did not seem to affect his ability to control it.
"Let’s see if I’ll lose control again."
Mo Yuan released his Blood Saber Intent to its fullest.
In an instant, crimson energy erupted from his body, spreading across the barren wasteland. The surrounding darkness was swallowed by a sea of blood-red mist that extended roughly ten kilometers before finally stopping.
Mo Yuan carefully sensed the energy spreading around him.
He could feel that he was capable of releasing even more but there was no need to waste his strength.
More importantly, he had not lost control.
He slowly withdrew the Blood Saber Intent and the crimson mist returned to his body.
"Good. At least I won’t have to worry about going berserk every time I use it."
Mo Yuan stood silently for a while, organizing his thoughts.
He still had no idea why he had become a Shadowspawn and how did the Copy and Paste Talent gave him new feature but he would think about those questions later.
For now, he had a new bloodline, a new talent and an upgraded Blood Saber Intent.
That was more than enough to make him happy.
Mo Yuan clenched his fists, feeling the immense power hidden within his small body.
A grin slowly appeared on his featureless face.
"Now then, let’s see how strong I am!"
