Chapter 425: The Speed of the Inheritance
He had finished reading the letter, but Long Ao remained seated and motionless.
His eyes were glued to its contents, especially the line: *If you never leave me, I'll be yours through life and death.*
Yuyin hadn't said where she was. Even though his heart was filled with endless worry and urgency, he was powerless and could only fret.
'Yuyin, where are you right now?'
Hearing Long Ao's sigh, everyone sighed inwardly. They had been such a perfect couple, yet now they were forced apart, and to make matters worse, no one even knew where Yuyin was. It was infuriating.
"Ao'Er."
"Father, what is it?"
Following his father's gaze, Long Ao saw Ao Xue standing there with an expressionless face. He cursed himself inwardly. 'Even if I miss Yuyin, I've been a little too obvious about it.'
Everyone took the hint and quickly departed. Soon, only Long Ao and Ao Xue remained in the Long Family's main hall.
"Ao Xue, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen."
Shaking her head, Ao Xue fought back tears. She kept her expression calm and said with a smile, "It's nothing. Quick, let me see what Sister Yuyin wrote to you."
Before Long Ao could even react, the letter was out of his hand and in hers.
*If you never leave me, I'll be yours through life and death.*
When Ao Xue read this line, a tremor ran through her. But she didn't say anything more and simply finished the letter in silence.
"Brother Ao, where is Sister Yuyin?"
It was as if she didn't want to be outdone. Ao Xue usually called him by his name or "brat," but she had never called him "Brother Ao." The more she acted like this, the more his heart ached for her.
At the same time, he felt a massive headache coming on. His love was torn between two women. Ao Xue was in pain, and he felt utterly helpless.
But Long Ao knew one thing clearly: he couldn't bear to lose either of them, not Ao Xue and not Yuyin.
Shaking his head, a look of helplessness crossed Long Ao's face as he spoke of Yuyin. He sighed, "I don't know anything about her situation right now."
"Ao Xue, I like it when you call me 'brat,' not other things."
At these words, Ao Xue's body trembled violently. She couldn't hold it in any longer. With a wail, she threw her arms around Long Ao and sobbed her heart out.
Long Ao would rather fight a hundred bouts with a top expert than face a woman's tears.
All he could do was hold Ao Xue close without saying a word.
The night was still and silent.
Long Ao and Ao Xue sat on the edge of the bed, gazing at one another. Gradually, they both lay back.
It was a night of passion, a battle of a hundred bouts. This union was completely different from their last time together. After all, that had been an accident, and neither of them had been conscious of it.
This night, they unleashed all their pent-up emotions. They came together a full seven times. One had to admit, Long Ao was truly formidable. In that regard alone, most men could only hope to look on from afar.
「The next morning.」
"You brat, you were so naughty last night. So many times."
He gave a sly chuckle. Strictly speaking, last night had been Long Ao's true first time. His first encounter with Ao Xue had happened while they were both unconscious and completely unaware.
The two lingered affectionately in bed for a long time. Just as Ao Xue left the room, she was pulled aside by Mu Lin.
"Ao Xue, hurry and tell Mother, were you and Ao'Er together last night?"
Damn, how direct.
Mu Lin's question made Ao Xue blush beet-red. She stammered, not knowing how to answer. Her silence was taken as a confirmation, which kept Mu Lin happy for a good while.
"Ao Xue, when do you two plan on having children?"
"Mother, well, um, I... he... we..." Ao Xue didn't even know what she was saying herself, just stammering without forming a coherent thought.
Long Ao was clever. He knew his mother would ask about this, so he had already made himself scarce. After his night of tenderness with Ao Xue, he immediately began laying out an Array. It was nearly identical to the one established by the Dragon Sect, and with the Fire Qilin standing guard, Long Ao was completely confident that even if the Four Great Forces attacked, they wouldn't stand a chance of breaking it.
"Big Brother, how is your inheritance coming along?"
Looking at his seventh brother, Long Ying had a helpless expression. Even with the ancestor's inheritance, his talent couldn't compare to his younger brother's. Seventh Brother was already a World King Martial Artist, but him? He had only just passed his Thunder Tribulation.
"It's going well. I have to say, the ancestor was truly powerful. In just a few short months, I've already broken through to the Thunder Tribulation Realm. Seventh Brother, have you ever heard of the Great Emperor Realm?"
Long Ao nodded. He didn't understand what his brother was getting at and asked in confusion, "Big Brother, what is it?"
"Seventh Brother, there's something you don't know. Since I received the ancestor's inheritance, I've learned a great deal. It turns out that above the Void Realm, there are the Void Saint Realm and the Great Emperor Realm. And now, I finally know just how strong our ancestor was."
"How strong?" Long Ao was also curious about their ancestor's power. After all, according to their grandfather, the ancestor had been unmatched as he swept through the Third Level Long Family and even forced his way into the Second Level Long Family. If the main Long Clan hadn't intervened in the end, he likely would have become a Divine Dao Martial Artist.
Others might not know what a Divine Dao Martial Artist was, but there was no way Long Ao would be ignorant.
"A Sealed Titled Emperor. The ancestor's title was Tyrant Body—the Batian Emperor."
'Holy shit! What a domineering title.' Setting aside the ancestor's actual power, that title alone was unbelievably badass.
"Seventh Brother, you're already a Void Realm King. I believe that with your talent, you'll soon break through to become a Void Realm Emperor and even reach the Void Saint Realm. But I want to tell you that the road ahead of us is still very, very long."
Long Ao nodded. Of course, he understood what his brother meant.
Long Ao could hardly imagine how his brother would react if he told him about Divine Dao Martial Artists. He wondered if his brother would be crushed by the knowledge. After all, a Sealed Titled Emperor was not the Peak of cultivation; the true Peak was being a Divine Dao Martial Artist.
Long Ao didn't bring up the matter of Divine Dao Martial Artists. He just smiled and suddenly asked, "Big Brother, I'm curious. At your current rate of progress with the inheritance, how long will it take for you to break through to the Great Emperor Realm, or even become a Sealed Titled Emperor?"
"With an ordinary Great Emperor Inheritance, it would take ten years at the very least, and even then, success wouldn't be guaranteed. But the ancestor's power is too immense; all the bottlenecks have been eliminated. Therefore, in a year at most, I can advance to become a Void Saint Martial Artist. Within three years, I will definitely reach the Great Emperor Realm. As for the Sealed Titled Emperor Realm, that I don't know."
His heart hammered in his chest. Long Ao had never imagined his brother's inheritance would allow for such a rapid progression. Reaching the Void Saint Realm within a year and the Great Emperor Realm within three... If word of such a cultivation speed got out, countless people would die of envy.
Yet Long Ao didn't feel the slightest bit of envy, jealousy, or hatred. Instead, he heaved a long sigh of relief.
