Chapter 424: A Letter from Yuyin
Watching Long Ao walk away, Ao Tian had no intention of giving up.
’No matter what, I have to find the remains of a Divine Dao Martial Artist and obtain their inheritance.’
’Ao Tian knew perfectly well that as long as he obtained the inheritance of a Divine Dao Martial Artist and reached the Divine Dao Realm, then conquering not just Kyushu, but even the Kyushu Spirit Realm, would be well within his grasp.’
In the distance, watching Ao Tian sitting all alone, Long Ao sighed deeply. "Ao Xue, I’ve done my best," he said helplessly. "He has already Fallen into Demon."
Sadness was written all over Ao Xue’s face. When it came to her father, she was just as powerless.
Shaking her head, Ao Xue said sorrowfully, "It’s not your fault. This is all my father’s own doing. I just hope that when he reaches the end of his rope, you can be there to pull him back."
"I will."
"Long Ao, the Four Great Forces have withdrawn from Kyushu. What are your plans?"
Long Ao and Ao Xue found a secluded spot to talk alone.
「Inside the Dragon Seal Space.」
"Long Fu, do you know about Divine Dao Martial Artists?"
Long Fu nodded, his expression unchanging as always. "Master, Divine Dao Martial Artists are Peak existences," he said indifferently. "With your current strength, knowing too much would do more harm than good."
’So they really exist.’
Long Ao was shocked. He finally understood that Divine Dao Martial Artists truly existed in this world. No wonder the Four Great Forces were so intent on coveting Kyushu.
It was a temptation that few could resist.
"Long Fu, is it true? Are there really remains of Divine Dao Martial Artists in Kyushu?"
Long Fu nodded. "Yes. The great Divine Dao war of a bygone era was world-shaking. The casualties were innumerable, leading to a state where, over many years, almost all Divine Dao Martial Artists have Fallen."
’A thrill shot through Long Ao. It seemed Long Fu really knew where the remains of the Divine Dao Martial Artists were. If I could find them, not only could I become a Divine Dao Martial Artist myself, but I could also create an entire army of them! With that kind of power, wouldn’t I be able to do whatever I want?’
Before Long Ao could even speak, Long Fu interjected, "Master, I’ve said it before. With your current strength, even if you found the tomb and remains of a Divine Dao Martial Artist, you wouldn’t obtain the inheritance. You would only suffer a backlash and die a horrible death."
Long Ao let out a deep sigh.
He was extremely reluctant to let it go, but he knew that when comparing an inheritance to his own life, the inheritance was insignificant.
Shrugging helplessly, Long Ao smiled. "I’ll just have to rely on my own effort and talent to improve step by step. As for the Divine Dao... one day, I will reach the Peak of Divine Dao and look down upon the heavens."
For the time being, Long Ao didn’t concern himself with the Dragon Sect’s affairs.
As things stood, the Dragon Sect was the hegemon of Kyushu. Barring the Four Great Forces, no one dared to provoke them.
’Long Ao was well aware that the Four Great Forces had only withdrawn from Kyushu because they were wary of one another. If they became dead set on dealing with him, it would be a huge problem.’
For this very reason, Long Ao prepared to set up arrays. He planned to deploy a series of powerful celestial arrays around the Dragon Sect and his family’s estate. That way, even if the Four Great Forces joined forces to attack, the Sect would have nothing to fear.
Drawing upon the Array Dao his master had taught him, Long Ao drew up a rough list.
Godslaying Sword Array, Illusionary Soul Capturing Array, Tai Chi Formless Array, Wolong Divine Destruction Array, Yin Yang Heaven Array, Six-Wheel Ghost-Killing Array, Infinite Dragon Roll Annihilation Array, Five Elements Array, Two Forms Illusionary Dust Destruction Array, Twelve Celestial Divines and Demons Array, Star Array, Nine Bends Yellow River Array, Spirit Gathering Array, and the Eight Trigrams Array.
Monadic Array, Two Qi Array, Three Talents Array, Four Extremes Array, Five Elements Array, Hexagram Array, Seven-Star Array, Eight Trigrams Array, Nine Palace Array, and the Ten Extremes Array.
One Deficient Array, Twelve All Heaven Divine-Demon Array, Twenty-four Star Constellation Formation, Thirty-Six Celestial Spirits Formation, Seventy-two Earthly Fiend Formation, Nine Bends Yellow River Array, Ten Thousand Ghosts Soul-devouring Array, Primordial Infinite Array, Ten Thousand Demons Array, Nine Heavens and Ten Lands Demon-Subduing Array, Great Heavenly Derivation Infinite Lifeless Array, Small Heavenly Derivation Infinite Array, Silent Extinction Void Lifeless Array, and the Three Lives and Three Deaths Soul Scattering Array.
Long Ao knew that what his master had taught him of the Array Dao was merely the tip of the iceberg. Setting up every single one of these arrays would be no easy feat.
After some deliberation, Long Ao decided to start by setting up thirty-six of the arrays.
The arrays would be layered one upon another, linked and interlocked in a complex, chain-like structure.
For a full half-month, Long Ao didn’t take a single step outside the Sect. His every waking moment was spent on array formation. Given his previous skill level, which he had refined slowly over time, setting up these arrays would have been a fool’s errand.
But Long Ao’s circumstances were different. Having received Heaven-Burning’s inheritance, his understanding of the Array Dao was exceptionally profound. Gradually, his skill in array formation grew more and more powerful.
’Ye Wushuang.’
’Long Ao had never forgotten his hatred for his master’s killer. Regardless of his master’s motives for passing on the array inheritance, Heaven-Burning would always be his master.’
’As the saying goes, a teacher for a day is a father for life. Besides, Long Ao was a man who deeply valued relationships and loyalty.’
Once all the arrays were in place, Long Ao didn’t tell a soul. The Dragon Sect had developed far too quickly, which had its pros and cons. There was no telling who might be a traitor. If word of the arrays got out, they would be completely useless.
The Dragon Sect now had two great trump cards: the Corpse Slave Army and the arrays.
After completing the array formation, Long Ao gave a brief overview of the situation before returning to the Long Family estate with Ao Xue and the Fire Qilin.
The Long Family of today was a far cry from its former self. With Long Ao’s meteoric rise, the family no longer had to remain in hiding. They had emerged openly into the Celestial State to face the world.
"Ao’Er, you’re finally back! There’s a letter for you here. Quick, take a look."
’A letter?’
Long Ao had no idea who would be writing to him. He took the envelope from his grandfather and opened it. A tremor ran through him, and the hand holding the letter began to shake uncontrollably. The handwriting was all too familiar.
"Yuyin."
Yuyin? Hearing Long Ao murmur her name, everyone understood. So, the letter was from Yuyin. They were all well aware of the relationship between Wang Yuyin and Long Ao. But ever since Yuyin had been taken away by her master, there had been no word from her. Now that a letter had finally arrived, how could Long Ao not be overcome with emotion?
"Brother Ao, it has been several months since we parted. Are you doing well? My master brought me to the Sect, and everything is fine. My strength is improving very quickly, so you don’t need to worry about me. You must be careful when you are out adventuring. No matter what happens, always remember that there is a Yuyin far away who is thinking of you. These few short lines can hardly express how much I miss you. We cannot see each other yet, as the time is not right. My master has already promised me that as long as my Cultivation breaks through to the Divine Dao Realm, I can leave the Sect to come see you. So, please don’t worry about me."
"If you never leave me, I will be yours in life and death. Please take good care of yourself. We will surely meet again. Your loving Yuyin."
