Chapter 159: Leave the Gu Family to Me
Everyone understood what Gu Changkong was implying. He hoped Gu Feifei would show some mercy and not be so ruthless.
Zhang Long shook his head. 'If I'd known,' he thought, 'I should have just had my bodyguards do it. A single strike would have finished off Gu Ying and Wang Liang, and I could have avoided all this trouble.'
In the eyes of Zhang Long and the others, since even Gu Changkong had spoken up, Gu Feifei would have to give the old man some face, no matter how reluctant she was.
But Gu Feifei slowly raised her head. While there were tears in her beautiful eyes, there was also an unshakeable glint of defiance.
"I'm sorry, Grandfather!"
Gu Feifei gave Gu Changkong a deep bow. Then, she straightened up, looked at Han Huan, and her red lips parted. "Steward Han, do it. Kill this mother and son."
The moment Gu Feifei finished speaking, Han Huan acted without hesitation. He strode over to Gu Ying, and as his hand shot out, a dagger materialized in his grasp, plunging directly toward her chest.
But in that very instant, the two strangely dressed men, who had previously retreated a good distance away, suddenly sprang into action. One attacked Han Huan, while the other reached for Gu Ying, apparently trying to save her.
However, almost at the exact moment they moved, two figures suddenly appeared nearby. One was dressed in black, the other in white. Flanking from the left and right, they intercepted both men's attacks.
Then, before anyone could react, the daggers in their hands had already slit the two men's throats, reaping their lives.
THUD!
THUD! THUD!
Three consecutive thuds echoed as heavy bodies hit the floor. Two were from the strangely dressed men whose throats had been slit in an instant. The third was Gu Ying.
After killing Gu Ying with a single strike, Han Huan didn't pause for a moment. He turned and plunged his dagger into Wang Liang's chest.
Afterwards, Han Huan retreated to his original position and stood still. He cupped his fist toward Gu Feifei. From start to finish, he made no superfluous movements. He hadn't even reacted to the sudden attack from the strangely dressed men. 'He knew perfectly well that with Zhou Fan here, those two couldn't possibly stir up any trouble.'
The two figures in black and white who had appeared earlier now walked over slowly. Expressionless, they ignored everyone present and came to a stop directly behind Zhou Fan, standing as still as two guardian statues.
The two were none other than the twins, Li Xing and Li Yue.
Only then did the rest of the crowd snap back to their senses. Everyone couldn't help but gasp, feeling the metallic tang of blood fill their lungs, a deeply unsettling sensation.
Gu Ying and Wang Liang were dead, just like that?
Dead, even after Gu Changkong himself had pleaded for them?
And their deaths had even cost the lives of the two people Gu Ying trusted most.
Zhang Long was utterly astonished. 'I knew Zhou Fan was powerful, but I never expected Han Huan to be so skilled. And I certainly didn't expect these two beautiful, identical, poker-faced twins to be so deadly!'
Almost subconsciously, Zhang Long shuffled a little farther away from the twins. 'Those two girls are absolutely vicious,' he thought. 'They killed two people as if they were swatting a pair of mosquitoes, without a single change in expression.'
Zhang Long's bodyguards were also deeply shaken.
"Those twins are something else. Ruthless."
"Holy shit, 'ruthless' doesn't even cut it. That's the understatement of the year. They're ruthlessness incarnate!"
"Not only are they ruthless, they're also super strong. And gorgeous!"
A few of the bodyguards were whispering amongst themselves nearby, but the twins heard them.
Hmph!
Li Xing turned her head to glance at them and let out a cold snort, instantly scaring them into silence.
"Feifei, you... you..." Gu Changkong was trembling with rage, his finger pointed at Gu Feifei, utterly at a loss for words.
"Grandfather, let's go home," Gu Feifei said. "From this day on, you can leave the Gu Family to me. You, Grandmaster Kong, and Grandmaster Liang can just enjoy your retirement in peace."
Gu Feifei offered a gentle smile, as if nothing had happened. She walked over, took Gu Changkong by the arm, and began leading him toward the door, speaking softly as they went.
"Alas, what a tragedy!" Hearing Gu Feifei's words, Gu Changkong's head snapped up. He looked at the granddaughter he had always doted on most, but suddenly, she felt like a complete stranger. In the end, all he could do was sigh toward the heavens. "What sin have I, Gu Changkong, committed for Heaven to punish me so!?"
As Gu Feifei and Gu Changkong departed, the others slowly filed out as well.
"Clean up this mess."
As he turned to leave, Zhou Fan spoke a quiet command to the twins. Then he took out a cigarette, lit it, and got into his car.
Zhang Long, who was leaving with Zhou Fan, paused. He turned his head and saw that the twins had remained in the courtyard and had even closed the main gate behind them.
"Don't be surprised, President Zhang," Han Huan said, noticing Zhang Long's shock. He smiled, his refined and gentlemanly demeanor returning as he explained, "Our Mr. Zhou never likes to leave loose ends."
"Younger Brother Zhou, what's your next move?" Zhang Long asked instinctively after snapping out of his daze.
"I'm going to catch the man who murdered your brother," Zhou Fan said with a grin that looked utterly harmless.
