Chapter 89: Sudden Sneak Attack
"We surrender. We're no match for you, sir. We're willing to leave Wolf Fang and follow you!"
The twins spoke softly, but the glances they stole at Fan were filled with resentment, as if they had suffered a great injustice.
Zhou Fan also turned to look at Fan, intending to ask him about it, but he found the guy staring up at the ceiling, acting like it had nothing to do with him.
"We surrender!" At the same time, the others also scrambled to their feet.
"What are your names?" Zhou Fan asked, walking over to the twins.
"Li Xing!"
"Li Yue!"
Just as they finished speaking and Zhou Fan was thinking their names weren't half-bad, he suddenly took a step back. At the same time, his hand shot out and slapped away a dagger lunging at him, knocking the ambusher and her weapon to the ground.
Then, his hand shifted into a claw and clamped around the other twin's neck.
In an instant, Zhou Fan had subdued the ambushing twins.
He moved so fast that, with the exception of Fan who had been expecting it, none of the others had time to react. They just stood there, dumbfounded.
'He was holding back when he fought all eight of us just now?'
Li Xing and Li Yue were even more incredulous. 'How can anyone in the world be this fast?'
"Hahaha, not bad, not bad at all!" Zhou Fan released them, turning to Fan with a laugh. "These two are perfect for my place. It's like they were tailor-made for my new department!"
"To be honest, they aren't a great fit here anyway," Fan nodded in agreement. "Their skills and mentality are good enough for field missions. Their lack of experience could be managed by pairing them with veterans, but their way of doing things just doesn't mesh with the group."
Fan had noticed this pair of twins long ago.
Zhou Fan gave the ten of them an address and told them to find Han Huan there, then left with Fan.
Back in Fan's office, the two men sat drinking tea. "Chu Qing, a local from Jiang Province, was indeed a close friend of Chu Tianxiang in their early years," Fan began. "But the feud between them has a slight discrepancy from the information you gave me—specifically, the reason why Chu Tianxiang killed Chu Qing and his wife."
"Chu Qing was a real piece of work. After getting married, he still fooled around, and his wife caught him countless times. But not only did he refuse to change, he started hitting his wife. He even hit his daughter, Chu Qianqian, who was only a few years old at the time and too young to remember."
"One time, Chu Tianxiang and his wife were at a gathering with Chu Qing's family. After drinking too much, that bastard Chu Qing raped Chu Tianxiang's wife. Unable to bear the shame, she jumped from an upper floor. When Chu Qing's own wife saw what happened, she went to fight him, but the inhuman monster pushed her off as well!"

When Fan finished speaking, he chugged a mouthful of tea and handed the document in his hand to Zhou Fan.
"Fuck, what a mess. This is a real goddamn headache," Zhou Fan cursed, speechless. The relationships were just too convoluted. He casually tore the paper to shreds and tossed it in the trash. He was done with this whole damn thing.
Anyway, Chu Tianxiang truly treated Chu Qianqian like his own daughter, and Chu Qianqian deeply respected him. It was better to just let Chu Tianxiang keep the secret so Chu Qianqian could go on living a happy life.
"How about we head out tomorrow?" Fan then relayed the information about the fake couple, Li Yang and Wang Yun, to Zhou Fan before asking in a low voice.
"Why wait for tomorrow? Let's take a flight tonight. I've heard of that small town. It's really remote. We'll have to switch vehicles and all that. Even if everything goes smoothly, we won't get there until tomorrow night anyway."
Zhou Fan shook his head in disagreement. It wasn't that he was impatient, but the pressure from Viper was a much bigger concern than this fake couple.
Just as his opponent understood him, he understood his opponent. Viper was surely on his way here already. Zhou Fan had to take care of these miscellaneous tasks before he arrived so he could focus all his attention on dealing with him.
"Alright. Go back and get ready. I'll bring a few people too. We have agents on the ground there who should be able to arrive ahead of time." Fan wasn't one to procrastinate and made the decision on the spot.
"By the way, do you have any theories about this fake couple? Otherwise, I doubt just two people would be important enough to warrant this much of your attention."
Just before leaving, Zhou Fan suddenly turned, his eyes fixed on Fan.
"We found some evidence. We suspect that they, and the group that was sent to the Chen Family, are all backed by the Witch Race." Fan's voice was low, and his cold tone was laced with killing intent.
