Chapter 194: Do You Trust Me?
Chen Feng glanced at Ah Lian, then looked at Zhou Fan apologetically. "Mr. Zhou, I'm truly sorry. If I could make the decision myself, this money would have been transferred to you long ago. It's just that the company has recently formed a new shareholder committee, and a sum this large requires their approval in a meeting."
Zhou Fan's eyes narrowed slightly. He turned to Ah Lian. "Please inform your new shareholders that we need a meeting. Tell them I'm here to collect my money."
Ah Lian looked at Chen Feng questioningly. When she saw him nod, she pushed open the door and went out.
Seeing that only the three of them were left in the office, Chen Yao was about to speak, but Zhou Fan placed a hand on her thigh to stop her. He then turned to her and said, "Have you forgotten the slap in the car? Even if you can't stand Chairman Chen, you have to wait until I've got the money before you hit him, understand?"
Chen Yao understood the meaning behind Zhou Fan's words, realizing there might be surveillance or listening devices in the room. She could only nod. "I know. It's just that whenever I see him, I remember how he forced me out of the Chen Group, and I get the urge to slap him."
Chen Yao lifted her head, her beautiful eyes blazing with fury, and glared fiercely at Chen Feng. "You piece of trash, just you wait. Sooner or later, I'll take back everything that belongs to me with my own hands, and I'll make you kneel and beg me!"
"Heh, on what grounds? Are you even worthy? The Chen Group now belongs to me, Chen Feng. The fact that I haven't hunted you down and wiped you out is already me being magnanimous!" Chen Feng laughed, a very pleased laugh. He leaned back slightly, took out a cigar, and lit it. After taking two forceful puffs, he looked at Chen Yao with disdain. "Remember this: until you have the power to back it up, cut the crap. If Mr. Zhou wasn't protecting you, how many times would you have died by now?"
Zhou Fan frowned slightly and glanced imperceptibly at Chen Feng. He patted Chen Yao's leg, signaling for her to stop arguing. He had already gotten the information he needed.
'So the force behind him even sent people to assassinate Chen Yao. She's probably been at Divan this whole time, and the security has been too good, so they never had a chance to make a move.'
Just then, the door was pushed open again. Ah Lian walked in first, followed by four people: three men and a woman. They were dressed in ordinary business suits. The woman was in her forties, had narrow, triangular eyes, and looked like someone not to be trifled with. The three men, however, were average-looking, the type you wouldn't give a second glance to in a crowd.
"Mr. Zhou, these four are our company's shareholders. This is Ms. Li. She now owns twenty percent of the company's shares, making her the largest shareholder next to me. As for the money you're asking for, you can discuss it with Ms. Li," Chen Feng explained after they were all seated.
"Hello, Mr. Zhou. My name is Li Mei. Regarding the matter of the 13.4 billion, that was from before we invested in the company. Now that we are shareholders, the company no longer belongs to Chairman Chen alone. Therefore, the four of us will not approve this payment." Li Mei sat up straight, looking directly at Zhou Fan, her voice firm and powerful.
"Not approve? Can I take that to mean you're not going to pay?" Zhou Fan smiled faintly, watching her with great interest. A flash of crimson crossed his eyes, and a spectral figure appeared behind Li Mei—it was a jet-black Big Python, staring right at him.
Zhou Fan's brows furrowed slightly. 'Damn it, what the hell is this thing now?'
'How can a person have the phantom of a snake around them?'
'Could this also be Witchcraft and Gu Technique?'
"We don't mean that, but if Mr. Zhou insists on interpreting it that way, we won't object," Li Mei said with a sinister smile, completely unafraid of Zhou Fan.
CLAP! CLAP!
Zhou Fan clapped with a smile, looking at her with amusement. He then gave Li Mei a thumbs-up. "How about we make a bet?"
"I've never been fond of betting, but since Mr. Zhou has proposed the idea, I'm curious to hear what this bet entails," Li Mei said with a smile after picking up her teacup and taking a sip.
"Let's bet that within three days, you all will have him call me himself, begging me to come back and accept this money. How about it?" Zhou Fan casually pointed to Chen Feng, but his gaze remained fixed on Li Mei—or rather, on the spectral Big Python behind her.
"Oh? Now you've suddenly piqued my interest. But since it's a bet, I wonder what the stakes are?" Li Mei seemed very confident.
"Simple. If I win, not only will you give me the money, but I also want the shares all four of you hold. How's that?" Zhou Fan rested one hand on the back of the sofa, leaned back, and looked just as confident.
"No problem. But if I'm lucky enough to win, I want Mr. Zhou to hand over Chen Yao and never interfere in the Chen Family's affairs again. Can you agree to that?" Li Mei readily agreed, then leaned forward slightly, her gaze pressing down on Zhou Fan.
Zhou Fan didn't answer her right away. Instead, he turned to look at Chen Yao. "Do you trust me?"
