Unwritten Destiny [Yuri/Sapphic, Isekai, LitRPG]

Session 32 – Picking up the pieces

Alexis finally, blissfully cried herself out and fell asleep sometime after dawn. I gently untangled my limbs from hers and crawled out of bed. My eyes hurt and I couldn't quite remember the last time I slept. I cried along with her during the night. I had also done a lot of thinking.

Lothe was going to die. That was absolutely for fucking certain. And I intended to make it as slow and as fucking painful as physically possible. But what about the others? Malkiir too, both because she was a piece of shit and for Ninira. Not getting her the first time had been my biggest regret, until now. Now, Lothe had jumped to the absolute summit of my shit list.

I splashed water on my face from the basin under the mirror. But the only Precept I still had was Infinite Potential, and even if I found a way to kill Lothe or Malkiir without my other Precepts, which were locked away safely in the Hells, the other gods would close ranks and come after me. They had to after last time.

And I had something to live for now; someone to live for. I smiled down at her cute blonde hair and those adorable little horns. They would come for me eventually. I could feel it. But they were afraid for right now, and that gave us time. Alexis and I would get stronger and find allies and magic items. But first, I needed breakfast.

<Keros, please keep my son safe. He's never been in a fight before and this war-> I growled and pushed her voice away. Keros can't help your son. She's trapped for all eternity in the Far Realms. And even if she wasn't, get a clue lady. She was the god of War Below. She lived for battle and 'honor' and all that other bullshit that gets people killed for no reason.

I dragged the wardrobe over in front of the door, sweating and swearing the entire time. Sometimes being small made me feel cute, and other times it made everything a giant pain in the ass. Moments like this, I really missed being a ten foot tall angel. With a shimmer of magic, the world grew even bigger as I Shaped into a mouse essence. I scurried out under the door and paused in the hallway to sniff around.

Content that I could smell no danger, I Shaped back into my human essence and only then realized that I still had her sword shoved down the back of my dress. Oh well. It helps communicate the vibe I'm feeling.

I stomped down to the inn and over to Sebastian. He looked up at me and turned pale. "Lass, yeh look like you're having a dreadful morning."

I nodded impatiently. "Haven't slept. Girlfriend got attacked by a soon-to-be dead demon. I need someone to stay with her while I go out. Is there anyone you trust? I can pay five silver."

Sabastian stroked his beard in thought. "I'm sorry to hear yeh been having so many problems. A demon yeh say? That's scary shite." He pulled a giant battleaxe out from under the bar. "I'll keep a watchful eye on the door and I'll send my niece up to your room. She's good people."

I nodded my thanks and bid him well. "Oh, could you also send up food? I'm starving, and I'm sure Alexis will be too." He nodded agreeably. Back up at the door to the room, I Shaped into a mouse again and slid back under the door. The wardrobe was even heavier to return to its corner, but I prevailed. She was still sleeping, but not soundly. She was thrashing around and mumbling in her sleep. I sat down on the edge of the bed as my heart broke all over again and I had an intense crying jag.

A soft knock on the door made me sniff and aggressively wipe away my tears. I opened the door to find two girls standing there expectantly and holding a tray of food. They were both young, maybe sixteen or seventeen, it's hard to tell with mortals sometimes. The taller girl was a mix of elf and dwarf and the shorter one showed a devil lineage just like my love.

"Hi!" The taller girl smiled warmly. "My uncle said you needed some muscle and food." I snorted and covered it with a cough. "I'm Moira and this is my girlfriend, Sterling." The smaller girl gave a shy wave.

Moira had short hair that was nearly as red as mine. She wore fitted and comfortable clothes that didn't restrict her movement at all and carried herself with the fluid grace of an experienced martial artist. Sterling's hair was very long and very dark, pulled back and secured in an intricate braid. She was dressed in a comfortable dress made for moving with a spell pouch on her belt and I could smell the sorcerous magic on her.

I stepped back and invited them into the room. They walked in and set the tray of food on the nightstand. I grabbed the Magic Bag of Stuff, slung it over my shoulder, and dug out five coins. I handed the silver to Moira.

"Thank you so much for doing this. She was attacked by a demon and I don't want to leave her alone while I go find something to help her." She looked down at the silver in her hand. I squirmed. "Sorry I can't pay you more."

Moira's eyes went wide. "Are you kidding?!? Babe! Look at this, we're rich!" She held the coins out to show Sterling who did a little dance.

I smiled at them both while grabbing a hunk of cheese from the tray and shoving pieces of it in my mouth. "I shouldn't be more than a few hours. Thanks again. I feel so much better knowing someone is here with her." I grabbed bread to go with my cheese.

Sterling smiled very warmly at me as she walked over and sat on the edge of the bed. "I'm happy to help someone with such a kind soul." The girl had an oddly subdued cadence to her speech. I would say Sterling had been through some shit. She reminded me a great deal of myself after Ninira. She gently stroked Alexis's hair and started singing very quietly.

My poor love actually settled down and stopped thrashing around as Sterling sang to her. I shook my head in wonder. "I'm definitely not paying you enough." The girls laughed and waved me off.
