Chapter 28
Meanwhile, Diana was waiting at the entrance of the campus for Sam, leaning against the wall while looking at her phone.
Her outfit caught the attention of many guys who passed by. She wore a cropped blue button-down shirt with the top buttons open teasingly enough to show the swell of her breasts and deep cleavage. It paired perfectly with a black short skirt ending at the top of her thighs that showed off her long, smooth legs and a pair of high heels to complete her look.
The combination was sexy, confident, and daring, exactly like Diana.
She wasn't shy about showing off her beauty and curves because she worked hard to maintain her appearance. She had every right to be proud of it.
But her gaze wasn't on those who were staring at her but on someone else, who was nowhere to be seen.
Sam was late. And she wasn't happy about it.
Her eyes narrowed in annoyance as she scrolled impatiently through her phone to distract herself.
When Sam had asked her out for lunch, she thought he would be on time or even earlier to impress her.
After all, she had sent him a very tempting message in the morning, which should have made him eager to see her. But it seemed things didn't go as planned.
Diana once again rejected another guy who tried to flirt with her and clicked her tongue.
She didn't care much about it since she was used to these situations. Guys always tried to approach her because she was hot, thinking she would fall for their cheesy lines or lame gifts and fuck them later.
As if she would stoop that low to hook up with anyone.
"Where the hell are you, Sam? Making a girl wait this long is such a turn-off." She muttered under her breath as she continued tapping on her phone screen.
Just when she was about to give up and leave, a voice called out to her.
"Diana!"
She looked up and saw Sam rushing towards her, looking flustered. His hair was a mess, and his shirt was slightly untucked, making him appear more handsome in her eyes. There was something about his dishevelled look that made him more attractive.
However, she wasn't pleased with his lateness.
"Finally! I thought you were going to ditch me, Sam. You're fifteen minutes late." Diana tossed her hair over her shoulder and crossed her arms, looking displeased. "Were you trying to test my patience or something like I did yesterday?"
"What? No, of course not." Sam shook his head and smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. I got held up by someone and couldn't escape easily. Believe me, I was trying to come here as fast as possible. I wouldn't stand you up."
"Oh, really? And who is that 'someone' that could make you late for our lunch date?"
Sam hesitated at Diana's question. He didn't want to say it was Chloe, afraid it would give her the wrong idea or cause unnecessary misunderstanding. They had just started talking to each other, after all.
But he also didn't want to lie to her.
Seeing his reaction, Diana smirked. "It was a woman, wasn't it?"
"Well..." Sam scratched his cheek and looked away. "It was... um... my sister."
"Oh, your stepsister?" Diana's smirk widened, and she moved closer to Sam. "Why? Aren't you two living in the same house? Couldn't you just talk later when you got home?"
"We weren't talking exactly. It's a bit complicated, and it was an urgent matter. Anyway, I'm sorry for making you wait." Sam tried to avoid the subject and changed it instead. "How about we go to lunch? I'm starving. I'm sure you are too, right?"
Diana didn't pursue the matter and simply nodded. She hooked her arm with Sam's, feeling his stiffen for a second before relaxing.
"You better not make me wait for you like this again. Or else..." She leaned closer to his ear and whispered seductively, "I'll tie you up and teach you a lesson."
The image of him being tied up and at her mercy flashed in Sam's mind, making him gulp and feel hot. Was she into that kind of stuff? He hoped she wasn't kidding.
"U-uh... I promise. Let's just go." Sam cleared his throat and led the way to the restaurant, trying to suppress his imagination.
As they walked, Diana watched him from the corner of her eyes, her expression turning thoughtful. She had to admit that despite his plain looks, Sam had something about him that intrigued her. She liked his serious personality and his innocent reactions whenever she teased him.
She also appreciated how he didn't push his luck with her when she acted provocative, even though she knew he was attracted to her. It showed that he respected her as a woman, not just as a sexual object.
Yet she didn't want Sam to be too uptight or boring either. She wanted a man who could match her intensity, challenge her, and make things exciting. A man who knew how to take control and lead her, not follow her every whim.
'And I think Sam can be that kind of man.' Diana mused to herself, her lips curling up slightly.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Sam pulled out the chair for Diana to sit in before sitting across from her.
Once they settled down, they ordered their drinks and meals right away. It was a casual place with a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for chatting.
Diana rested her chin on her hand and looked at Sam with a playful glint in her eyes. "By the way, Sam... Did you forget something to say to me? I thought guys were supposed to compliment a woman when they meet."
