Chapter 205: Rewards
Kaiser inspected the first item inside the chest.
[Item: Sky Devouring Serpent Materials Box]
[Rank: Legendary]
[Type: Materials Collection]
[Description: A collection of valuable materials obtained from the Sky Devouring Serpent, including its Monster Core, Scales, Devouring Fang, and Blood Essence.]
Alex’s eyes widened.
"A Legendary materials box! That’s a lot of valuable materials in one reward!"
John nodded as he examined the information.
"The scales can be used to craft defensive equipment, while the fang could be used to make a weapon capable of disrupting energy. The Monster Core and Blood Essence should also have plenty of uses."
Kaiser nodded before moving to the second reward.
[Item: Sky Devouring Serpent Transformation]
[Rank: Legendary]
[Type: Transformation Skill]
[Description: A Legendary skill that allows the user to transform into the fearsome form of the Sky Devouring Serpent, gaining access to its physical characteristics and devouring abilities. The extent of the transformation depends on the user’s compatibility and mastery of the skill.]
"A transformation skill!" Henrick exclaimed.
Pascot looked surprised.
"That means someone can actually transform into the monster we just fought?"
"Apparently," Kaiser replied. "Although we still need to learn its requirements and limitations before using it."
He moved on to the third reward.
[Item: Myriad Poison Greatblade]
[Rank: Legendary]
[Type: Weapon]
[Description: A greatblade forged using the essence and materials of the Myriad Poison Serpent King. It possesses exceptional cutting power and can release concentrated poisonous energy through its attacks. Repeated strikes can accumulate poison within the target, gradually weakening its defenses and physical condition.]
Alex leaned closer to inspect the weapon’s information.
"A Legendary greatblade that can accumulate poison with every strike? That’s a pretty nasty weapon."
"Especially against opponents who rely on their physical defenses," John added.
Kaiser nodded and continued inspecting the rewards.
The fourth item was a piece of armor surrounded by a faint black-green aura.
[Item: Devouring King Armor]
[Rank: Legendary]
[Type: Armor]
[Description: Legendary armor created using the materials of the Sky Devouring Serpent. It provides exceptional physical defense and resistance to energy-based attacks. Its special ability, Devouring Guard, allows the armor to consume a portion of incoming energy attacks, reducing their impact on the wearer. Its effectiveness depends on the strength of the incoming attack and the user’s compatibility with the armor.]
Henrick’s expression changed as he read the description.
"Armor that can consume energy attacks? That’s incredibly useful!"
"Not to mention its physical defense," Pascot added. "With this armor, someone could become much harder to defeat."
Kaiser studied the description carefully.
The armor seemed particularly suitable for someone who frequently faced opponents with powerful energy-based abilities. However, its ability to consume energy was unlikely to work without limits, especially against attacks significantly stronger than its own rank.
He put the information aside and inspected the final reward.
A skill book rested at the bottom of the chest. Its cover was dark green, with several twisting serpent patterns engraved across its surface.
[Item: Myriad Poison Creation]
[Rank: Legendary]
[Type: Skill Book]
[Description: A Legendary skill that allows the user to create and manipulate different forms of poison by combining poisonous energy with their own power. The user can develop poisons with different effects depending on their understanding, available materials, and mastery of the skill. The strength and complexity of the poisons increase with the user’s proficiency.]
Kaiser raised his eyebrows.
’Poison creation?’
Unlike a skill that simply allowed its user to release poison, this one could potentially let its user develop different types of poison for different situations.
It would require experimentation and suitable materials, but its long-term potential was considerable.
Alex looked at the skill book and then at the greatblade.
"Wait a minute. We got a poison greatblade, armor that can devour energy, a transformation skill, and a Legendary poison creation skill. These rewards are ridiculous!"
John laughed.
"After nearly getting eaten by that serpent, I’d say we’ve earned them."
Henrick nodded before looking at Kaiser.
"All five rewards are Legendary. This dungeon was definitely worth the trouble."
Kaiser examined the rewards once more.
The first reward contained several valuable materials, while the second allowed the user to transform into the Sky Devouring Serpent. The Myriad Poison Greatblade and Devouring King Armor were powerful pieces of equipment, and the final skill book offered considerable potential for anyone interested in poison-based abilities.
It was an impressive collection of rewards.
However, they still needed to determine how the rewards would be distributed among the five of them.
Kaiser turned toward his teammates.
"We should discuss who gets what before we leave. Some of these rewards might be more useful to certain people than others."
The others nodded in agreement.
Before discussing the distribution, however, Alex suddenly remembered something.
"Wait a minute. We still haven’t checked the rewards from the minibosses we defeated earlier!"
John slapped his forehead.
"You’re right! We were so focused on the final boss that we completely forgot about those."
They immediately took out the remaining rewards they had collected during their exploration of the Myriad Serpent Abode.
Among them were a Twinblade of Boiling Poisons, a Poison Scale Greatsword, an Orb of Poisonous Sage, and a Venom Barrier skill book.
Kaiser inspected each item before gathering all the rewards together.
After considering their ranks, abilities, and compatibility requirements, the five students began discussing how to distribute them.
The Twinblade of Boiling Poisons was best suited for someone who preferred fast attacks and could apply poison through repeated strikes. The Poison Scale Greatsword, on the other hand, was a heavy weapon that offered both strong offensive power and decent defensive capabilities.
The Orb of Poisonous Sage was particularly valuable because it could help someone use poison magic even if they dont have the affinity for it. Meanwhile, the Venom Barrier skill book contained a defensive skill that allowed its user to form a barrier made from concentrated poisonous energy.
With the additional rewards from the final boss, they now had several valuable items to distribute.
Kaiser considered the options for a moment before speaking.
"I’ll take the Sky Devouring Serpent Transformation skill and the Orb of Poisonous Sage."
Alex raised an eyebrow.
"Both of them? Why those two?"
"Because I don’t have a Poison Affinity," Kaiser explained. "The Orb of Poisonous Sage should help me use poison magic stored in it, while the transformation skill gives me another option for combat. As for the weapons and armor, I don’t have much use for them."
He paused before adding, "Besides, none of you would benefit much from the transformation skill unless you can meet its requirements."
The others considered his explanation and nodded.
They had no objections to Kaiser’s choice. The transformation skill was powerful, but its usefulness depended on compatibility, and the Orb of Poisonous Sage was more suitable for someone without any poison affinity as its gives less boost to spells then staff or wands.
Orbs are more of spell storing items then catalysts.
After that, they began dividing the remaining rewards.
Alex chose the Myriad Poison Greatblade. His inheritance had recently granted him a Poison Affinity, making the weapon a good match for his abilities. Combined with his Blood Sap Rule, it would give him another way to weaken opponents during prolonged battles.
John selected the Twinblade of Blooming Poisons. Its fast attack style suited his combat approach, allowing him to strike repeatedly while using his shadows to create openings.
Henrick chose the Devouring King Armor. Its ability to absorb part of incoming energy attacks complemented his defensive fighting style, making it easier for him to protect himself and support his teammates.
Pascot took the Poison Scale Greatsword and the Venom Barrier skill book after the group agreed that he would benefit most from having both an additional weapon and a defensive skill.
The remaining Sky Devouring Serpent materials were placed in a shared collection for the group to decide how to use later.
Once the distribution was settled, Kaiser stored his two rewards.
He glanced at the others, then sighed inwardly.
’Among the five of us, I’m the only one without a Poison Affinity.’
Alex had gained his Poison Affinity through his inheritance, while the others had their own ways of making use of the rewards they received.
Kaiser, meanwhile, would have to rely on the Orb of Poisonous Sage to use poison magic. It was not the same as possessing a natural affinity, but it was better than leaving the opportunity unused.
He shook his head and put the matter aside.
’Well, I can’t expect every reward to suit me perfectly.’
They had obtained several Legendary items and valuable skills from the dungeon. More importantly, the battle had given them a chance to practice their Rules against a powerful opponent.
Alex hefted his new greatblade and gave it a few experimental swings.
"All right! Now that we’ve finished distributing everything, can we finally get out of here?"
John laughed.
"Agreed. I’ve had enough of giant poisonous snakes for one day."
Henrick and Pascot nodded as well.
