Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 537 - 527: Saving Ariel 20

At that moment, Kai York and Moira Lynch were oblivious to the man’s thoughts. Having just completed their mission, they were enjoying a moment of carefree relief.

"So, where do you think we should go first?"

Moira Lynch looked at Kai York’s brimming excitement and couldn’t help but pour cold water on his enthusiasm. "There’s a war on, you know. You look like we’re here on vacation."

"I’m just saying, acting like that is a good way to get yourself killed."

Kai York stiffened at Moira Lynch’s words but remained stubborn. "I know that. I’ve run into pirates a few times before, and they were nothing special. Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, I won’t let anything happen to you."

Moira Lynch sighed. ’I certainly hope so.’

"By the way, what race was that rescue team captain?" Kai York asked, curious.

"Don’t you have an Intelligent Brain? Just look it up yourself. Stop relying on me for everything, all right?" Moira Lynch said with resignation.

As she finished speaking, Kai York frowned. "You think I haven’t tried? I’m asking you because I *couldn’t* find anything."

"Couldn’t find anything? How is that possible?"

Moira Lynch clearly didn’t believe him.

The Astranet had information on every known race in the galaxy. It wasn’t always complete, but it should at least have the names. ’How could he not find anything?’

"Well, it’s not that I couldn’t find *anything*. It’s just that when I tried a photo search, the picture came out completely black, so you couldn’t see the person at all. When I searched by characteristics, dozens of horned races popped up, but none of them looked quite right."

"Besides, you have no idea just how powerful that rescue captain is. I saw it with my own eyes—he didn’t use a weapon, just one hand, and he easily cut a dozen pirates in half."

To be honest, Kai York had been completely blown away by how cool that moment was.

It was part of the reason he’d been so cooperative in pretending to be a captive afterward.

"I wonder if I’ll ever be that strong." As he spoke, his voice was thick with envy.

"You could do that too, you know. If you cultivate your Wind Talent to its peak—level seven—your Wind Blades could easily split a planet in two," Moira Lynch said.

"Really?!" Kai York’s voice shot up.

He grabbed Moira Lynch’s shoulders, his tone frantic. "Then what do I have to do?"

Moira Lynch wrenched herself from his grasp, her expression annoyed. "You’re hurting me! What are you even talking about? Splitting planets, or just being strong like the rescue captain?"

"Level seven is way too far off. For now, just teach me how to get as strong as that rescue captain."

At this, Moira Lynch rolled her eyes. "I don’t have a Wind Talent, so how am I supposed to teach you? If you want to learn, go find some video tutorials. They’re all over the web. Sure, they’re just the basics, but a lot of advanced moves are just variations of those. You’re the one with the Wind Talent; you should understand the wind better than I do."

’In Moira’s opinion, the innate power of a talent was important, but how its wielder developed and used it was just as crucial.’

"As for that rescue captain, he’s probably a warrior from the Agul race."

Moira Lynch relayed the answer Patience had just found.

"The horns of male Agul curve and become sharper when they reach adulthood. Their entire bodies are also covered in hard, sharp scales, which makes them excel at close combat. The reason you couldn’t find him is because the pictures of the Agul on the Astranet are all female. As for your photo problem... that probably has to do with his talent."

"There’s a talent called Divine Favor. Those who awaken it have physiques as if blessed by a god, far surpassing ordinary people."

"To put it in terms from Caelus, they’re real-life supermen—only even more super."

"Because they are favored by the gods, ordinary cameras can’t capture their image."

"In short, a talent like Divine Favor is far more powerful than something like Physical Enhancement."

"Physical Enhancement has its limits; Divine Favor does not."

"Someone once ran an experiment where they put a person with Divine Favor into a hopeless situation. Every time everyone thought he was about to die, his body would erupt with even greater power. He would even awaken new talents to overcome the crisis."

"In other words, the more dangerous the situation and the greater the pressure, the more potential a person with Divine Favor will unlock."

"Of the Federation’s three current Grand Marshals, two of them have awakened this very talent."

Eager to become as strong as the rescue captain as soon as possible, Kai York spent the entire journey watching Wind Element instructional videos on the Astranet as they traveled.

He might not have been able to multitask before, but after their deliberate training, he could now do so with ease, without a hitch in either task.

It was only after watching these Wind Element tutorials that Kai York realized what he had been missing.

He now felt he hadn’t even tapped one percent of his talent’s potential, and his ways of using the wind were far too simplistic.

Closing the video, Kai York’s mind was buzzing with new moves he was itching to try.

"Moira, we’ve been traveling for so long without running into a single person. This is so boring. How about we go on the offensive?"

"Go on the offensive?"

"Yeah, let’s go hunt some pirates! Think about it—those guys have done all sorts of terrible things. We’d basically be delivering justice."

"Fine by me." Moira Lynch had no objection. "We’re not doing anything else. But if you’re going to hunt pirates, you might as well pick up a relevant quest from the official adventurer website first. That way, you can get a reward."

Hearing this, Kai York’s eyes lit up, and he gave her a look that screamed, ’Of course *you’d* think of that!’

Soon enough, Kai York had picked out a mission.

"Let’s go. Time to find some pirates. Where do we start?"

Kai York glanced around before his gaze finally settled on Moira Lynch.

’Great,’ Moira thought. ’Looks like I have to lead the way again.’

Since she couldn’t reveal her spiritual power, Moira Lynch decided to just let Black Wolf out.

"Take us to the pirates," Moira Lynch commanded.

In response, Black Wolf let out a yip, then rolled its eyes at her.

"You’re better at this stuff than I am. What did you call me out for?"

Luckily, Kai York couldn’t understand what Black Wolf was saying.

"Just play along. I can’t blow my cover in front of Kai York."

Black Wolf whined.

"You’re still not going to tell him? If you ask me, you should just get it over with. It’d save you a lot of trouble."

"What kind of talk is that? It’s their fault for not figuring out the truth. What does that have to do with me?"

Moira Lynch adopted a petulant expression, as if it were their fault, not hers.

In the end, under Moira Lynch’s tyrannical pressure, Black Wolf relented and agreed to lead them to the pirates.

Of course, in reality, it was still Moira Lynch herself who was leading the way.
