Chapter 532 - 522: Saving Ariel 15
Moira Lynch was heading toward Kai York’s location when she suddenly received a call request from him.
After accepting the call, a screen only she could see appeared before her eyes. On the other end of the video was Kai York.
Kai York noticed Moira Lynch’s background was moving quickly and asked doubtfully, "Are you on the run?"
The thought made him subconsciously want to hang up, lest he slow her down.
But on second thought, if she were really running for her life, she probably wouldn’t have answered his video call.
"I’m on an electric scooter. What’s up?"
Moira Lynch had actually already guessed, but she asked anyway.
Knowing Moira Lynch wasn’t in trouble, Kai York finally remembered his real reason for calling.
"Do you have any supplies? I remember you mentioned supply crates or something. I just rescued a few dozen survivors from the pirates. They’re not in good shape, and a lot of them are injured and need medicine."
"I have some. Send me your location, and I’ll head over right now," Moira Lynch said.
"Okay!"
After hanging up, Kai York quickly sent his current coordinates.
Moira Lynch glanced at the location. It wasn’t the same one Heavenly Eye had confirmed earlier.
’Looks like Kai York must have noticed Heavenly Eye’s surveillance and moved for safety.’
However, this new location was clearly a bit closer to her than the previous one.
About an hour later, Moira Lynch finally found the place.
She could have arrived sooner, but she had run into several pirate patrols along the way and had to take a few detours, which cost her some time.
When Kai York saw Moira Lynch appear, he was instantly overcome with excitement.
"Thank goodness, Moira! You’re finally here."
If she hadn’t come any sooner, he wouldn’t have been able to hold on.
These people had just escaped from the pirates and were still in a state of shock. Compounded by their injuries, many were on the verge of a mental breakdown.
But they were so afraid of their hiding spot being discovered that they didn’t even dare to cry out loud.
Moira Lynch’s arrival was like a shot in the arm, giving these people hope for survival.
"It’s an escort! We’re saved!"
Someone said it, and in an instant, all eyes turned to Moira Lynch.
Moira Lynch felt her skin crawl under their stares. She took out the supplies and had them line up to receive them.
As for the injured, their wounds weren’t too severe, so Moira Lynch didn’t treat them herself. There were medical supplies, after all.
After everyone had been given food, water, and warm blankets, their spirits were finally soothed somewhat. At least they were no longer trembling with fear.
At this point, Moira Lynch and Kai York finally had time to exchange information.
"What’s with that outfit? It’s so ugly."
As he spoke, Kai York couldn’t help but show a disgusted expression. It wasn’t just ugly; it was also incredibly conspicuous. You could spot it from a mile away.
"It’s the exclusive uniform for escorts. It confirms my identity. I can only take it off after the mission is complete," Moira Lynch explained.
"Oh, I see. Good thing I’m not an escort, then. I don’t have to wear such an ugly outfit," Kai York continued to grumble.
He really couldn’t imagine what such an ugly outfit would look like on him.
Seeing his disgusted expression, Moira Lynch was speechless. ’What right does a ’bait’ like you have to criticize me?’
That’s right. Based on Kai York’s recent experience, Patience had already analyzed his current role.
To put it nicely, he was a rescue team. To put it bluntly, he was bait—a disposable asset.
However, so as not to affect Kai York’s morale, she decided it was best not to tell him this cruel truth for the time being.
"By the way, did you see the Boss or Hugh Finch on your way here?" Kai York asked.
Moira Lynch shook her head. "I didn’t see either of them. If I had, I wouldn’t have come here alone."
"I think I saw the Boss when this started, but it was just a glimpse, so I’m not sure. His mission seems to be different from ours. And when I tried to contact him with the Intelligent Brain later, he didn’t reply."
Kai York recalled the figure he had seen from behind before setting out.
At first glance, he was certain it was his boss, but now, he wasn’t so sure anymore.
’It was just a view from the back. There must be a lot of people with a similar build.’
"What about Hugh Finch? Did you see Hugh Finch?" Moira Lynch asked.
She had tried contacting him via the Communication Corridor earlier, but the distance between them was probably too great, so it didn’t work.
Suddenly, Moira Lynch smacked her forehead.
’I’m so stupid. The Communication Corridor won’t connect, but I can just use the Intelligent Brain.’
"Patience, contact Hugh Finch. Ask him what he’s doing."
Apparently, Kai York had the same idea as Moira Lynch and also used his Intelligent Brain to contact Hugh Finch.
A few seconds later, they both received the same answer.
They looked up at each other at the same time.
After a moment, Kai York spoke first. "You know, too?"
Moira Lynch nodded. "Hugh Finch has infiltrated the pirates."
And with his divination ability, he’s even managed to get into the good graces of the pirates’ third-in-command in this short amount of time.
As for why it was the third-in-command and not the second or the first...
It was because the third-in-command was in charge of this raid; the first and second-in-command weren’t here.
"This seems to be Hugh Finch’s mission. We should probably not disturb him," Moira Lynch said.
Kai York nodded in agreement. With so many survivors here, he couldn’t really leave anyway.
Because of these survivors, Moira Lynch’s supplies had taken another hit. Only a small portion remained.
"Why don’t you go rescue some more hostages? Maybe then my mission will be complete," Moira Lynch suggested, giving him a terrible idea.
"No way," Kai York refused decisively. "But speaking of which, it seems my mission is already complete."
"What is your mission?" Moira Lynch asked curiously.
She had already confirmed that Kai York was the bait, but the mission objective certainly wouldn’t be written that way. So, Moira Lynch was very curious about what his mission actually was.
’Patience, what do you think the odds are of winning if I get Kai York to sue them?’ Moira Lynch asked internally.
[Master, for this kind of thing, the parties involved should have all signed a liability waiver before the mission started.]
The implication was that there was no chance of winning.
"My mission was to rescue all the hostages. I did rescue some, but there are still many who haven’t escaped. Yet my side shows the mission as complete. It’s really strange."
