Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 530 - 520: Saving Ariel 13

But on second thought, he felt it was a bit of a pity. If it had been a honey trap, he could have justifiably kept her by his side.

Her group healing ability alone was enough to make him and his pirate crew invincible.

Moira, of course, had no idea what he was thinking. If she did, she would have slapped him without a second thought.

’In his dreams.’

Redlight was surprised at how quickly the man had woken up. Hearing the conversation between him and Moira, he asked, "You two actually know each other?"

"We know each other, but not well," Moira explained quickly.

Hearing Moira’s explanation, Raoul put on a wounded expression, as if to say: ’So that’s all I am to you?’

Moira completely ignored his theatrics. "I heard them say you promised them a Hurricane Battle Armor if they saved you. It’s time to honor that promise. Don’t keep them waiting."

At Moira’s words, Redlight and his two companions instantly cast their doubts aside, their eyes locking onto Raoul.

Their intense gazes made Raoul’s skin crawl.

In fact, Moira’s earlier guess had been correct. He’d had no intention of honoring his promise. After all, he was a pirate.

Why would a pirate keep his promise?

He just hadn’t expected Moira to be here. And from the looks of it, they weren’t just acquainted, but quite familiar.

This connection forced him to reconsider.

After all, considering Moira’s abilities, her value, and the benefits she could bring him, he couldn’t afford to leave a bad impression on her.

The first time she saved him could be written off as her not knowing who he was. But now that she’d saved him a second time, Raoul was certain: she was the one he’d been looking for all along.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have saved him—she would have finished him off.

As a pirate, he faced the risk of injury nearly every day, whether from enemies or betrayal from his own people.

Case in point: the last time, and this time.

At times like these, a skilled healer was exceptionally important.

The Federation’s Healing Mages were too well-protected; he never had a chance to get near one. Now that he’d finally encountered one in the wild, he absolutely couldn’t let her get away.

"Of course! No problem. I’m a man of my word."

As he spoke, Raoul produced the first-generation Hurricane Battle Armor he’d bought off someone.

Moira looked at the golden sphere and blinked, puzzled. "This is the Hurricane Battle Armor?"

The look on her face seemed to say: ’You’ve got to be kidding me.’

Raoul explained, "This is the Hurricane Battle Armor’s initial state. To get it out of this state, someone has to activate it first."

Redlight carefully took the battle armor, cupping it in his hands as if it were a fragile, priceless treasure. Even his breathing grew faint.

After stowing the armor away, Redlight seemed to remember something. "So, how do I activate the Hurricane Battle Armor?"

"Not just anyone can use the Hurricane Battle Armor. Its design is based on the Human Race legend of Fatian Xiangdi, allowing the operator to magnify their own abilities proportionally. However, the armor also places high demands on its pilot."

"As far as public records go, fewer than ten people in the entire Federation can successfully pilot a Hurricane Battle Armor. What’s more, the armor has side effects. It causes significant harm to its user, so you have to be extremely careful with it."

You could say that right now, you pilot the Hurricane Battle Armor with your life on the line.

The only reason he’d paid a high price for it in the first place was to study it, to see if he could improve the design and reduce the side effects.

Once he’d handed it over, Raoul had no intention of getting involved further. He’d made the side effects clear; whatever happened next was none of his business.

If he wanted to study it again in the future, he could always just buy another one.

He then turned to Moira, a sycophantic smile on his face. "My dear Moira," he cooed, "I’d like to discuss something with you."

His sappy tone sent a wave of goosebumps across Moira’s skin. "Just say what you want," she said, shuddering. ’And stop making that disgusting face.’

"Look, we’ve run into each other twice now. You could say it’s fate. We know each other so well... could you heal my two men as well?"

While Raoul was no saint, he was fiercely loyal to his own. He was ruthless to traitors, but he cared deeply for his loyal crew.

Especially these two, who had just protected him.

Moira had no problem with that, but...

When Moira held out her hand to him, Raoul, not understanding her intention for a moment, instinctively placed his own hand on top of hers.

Only to have it slapped away the next second.

"Who wants your paw? I meant my fee! You expect me to treat them for free? Are you looking for a handout?"

Raoul finally understood. "But I don’t have anything on me right now. How about..."

He was about to ask if he could owe her, but as he looked down, he suddenly noticed the tooth necklace around his neck.

The teeth on the necklace were all hand-picked from the most ferocious beasts he had ever killed. It was incredibly precious and held great sentimental value; he never took it off.

But now...

Without a moment’s hesitation, Raoul took off the necklace. "How about this for the fee? Is this enough?"

Moira glanced at the necklace. The teeth were clearly real, and there were gemstones embedded between them. The craftsmanship was exquisite; it was obviously quite valuable.

"That’s enough."

With that, Moira walked over to the other two men. With others watching, she couldn’t just use her Healing Talent openly. Fortunately, their injuries weren’t as severe as Raoul’s. A few vials of healing Medicine were enough to get them mostly patched up.

Once his two men were conscious, Raoul prepared to leave with them. He had to get back and deal with the traitors, or he’d truly be usurped.

Before leaving, he gave Moira and the others several clues about the pirates, and revealed the reason for the attack on this place.

That’s right, it was for the Ariel Crystal Stone. They’d been capturing large numbers of hostages to mine it.

They planned to squeeze this planet dry of its Ariel Crystal Stones, mining it to the point of exhaustion so it could never produce them again.

Then, Ariel Crystal Stones would become incredibly scarce. With a massive hoard in their possession, they could drive up the price and have everyone at their mercy.
