Marvel: Reincarnated as Superman

Chapter 149: Risky Plan

Hearing Valkyrie say that anyone could sign up for Championship Night regardless of identity, Quill’s eyes lit up. A bold idea struck him: if he could convince Daniel to participate, not only could he win back his five million, but he could also make a huge profit!

When that happened, he could visit the famous pink planet, Veylora, and spend a passionate night with their top courtesan, Lyra Vale!

Although Lyra Vale sounded like a man’s name, she was actually a woman, and an extraordinarily breathtaking woman at that!

Dressed in pink silk, with delicate willow-shaped eyebrows and eyes filled with alluring charm, her dancing had completely captivated Quill the very first time he saw it, haunting his dreams ever since.

Last time on Veylora, Quill had caught a fleeting glimpse of Lyra, and he’d never been able to get her out of his mind.

Unfortunately, her price was far too high, just spending a single night with her cost a staggering twenty million!

Quill didn’t have that kind of money. Back then, he had tried to borrow some cash from Daniel to visit Lyra, but Daniel had flatly refused with a bizarre expression on his face, absolutely refusing to lend him a single cent.

That rejection had left Quill filled with regret for a long time; he ignored Daniel for an entire day, shutting himself in his room to eat nonstop. Only after stuffing himself until he was nearly sick did his mood recover enough for him to come out.

Thinking of Lyra, Quill looked determined as he muttered to himself, ’I’ll definitely convince Daniel. Wait for me, my goddess!’

"I need to use the bathroom," Quill said to Valkyrie.

"Why are you so much trouble?" Valkyrie complained.

She had plenty of money, but she’d spent all of it on alcohol, so her ship wasn’t very large.

It was already cramped with the three of them sitting inside, so where would she even find room for a bathroom?

Besides, as an Asgardian, her physiological need to use the bathroom was practically nonexistent; she could hold it in for a month if needed. Instead of wasting money on bathroom, she’d rather buy a few more bottles of alcohol.

"Take the portable flyer down and find a bathroom yourself. It is right..."

"No need, I’ll find it myself," Quill interrupted, jumping straight out of the open hatch.

"Is he trying to get himself killed?" Valkyrie asked, turning to Daniel. She knew full well that Quill was just a normal human; falling from this height would definitely end in his death.

"Don’t worry about him. He has gear to handle short-distance flight," Daniel said, casting a casual glance downward.

"Oh, okay." Valkyrie nodded and stopped bothering with Quill.

Jumping off the ship, Quill spread his arms wide and shouted in his heart, ’Lyra, here I come!’

He tapped his suit’s propulsion gear, intending to stabilize his descent.

However, he had completely forgotten that he hadn’t used the gear in almost five years. The power was long depleted, and on top of that, he had gained so much weight that the thrusters merely sputtered twice with puffs of air before shutting down completely.

Quill spun twice in midair before wobbling and plunging straight down.

"AAAAAAHHH!" Quill screamed.

"I think I heard Quill screaming," Valkyrie said to Daniel.

Daniel nodded calmly. "Yeah. His flying gear ran out of juice, so he fell."

"So... is he okay right now?" Valkyrie asked.

"He’s fine, he’s totally fine. The guy he landed on, though, isn’t doing so well, he’s barely clinging to life."

"Huh?" Valkyrie quickly leaned down to look below.

...

Quill rubbed his butt and stood up in disbelief.

"What just happened? How am I not hurt?" he asked, astonished.

The moment he fell, he had genuinely thought he was going to kick the bucket. Falling from such a high altitude without Daniel coming to rescue him, he had almost given up.

At that moment, his mind had been completely filled with thoughts of Lyra, and his very first reaction as he plunged was a bitter regret that he’d never get to see her again.

What a tragedy!

Yet, to his absolute shock, after getting up, he found that aside from a dull ache in his butt, he was completely unharmed.

"Huh? Why is my butt wet?"

Quill turned around to look, only to see a four-eared alien sprawled on the ground, blood coming from his mouth as he desperately struggled to breathe.

"Hey, pal, what happened? How’d you get hurt? Want me to call an ambulance?"

Quill crouched down and asked the alien.

"You... you..." The alien was so furious he couldn’t speak, struggling with all his strength to raise a finger and point at Quill.

Feeling his life slipping away, he decided he couldn’t die like this, he had to at least let the readers know his name before kicking the bucket. He squeezed out a name with his final breath.

"I... my name is Vance Trot!"

With that, Vance failed to catch his next breath and passed away gloriously.

"How tragic! Man, you were really unlucky." Quill shook his head, clearly feeling for Vance, then gave him a sympathetic pat on the shoulder before quickly beating a retreat.

It seemed like he had accidentally killed the guy with his own ass.

So, if he didn’t leave now, wouldn’t he be in huge trouble when the guy’s friends showed up?

Silently offering another apology, Quill searched the arena for a long time before finally locating the registration desk for Championship Night.

"Hey, what’s your name?" Seeing a four-eyed alien sitting nonchalantly behind the counter, Quill asked with a smile.

"Alex Mercer. What do you want? If it’s nothing, get lost! I’m trying to watch Bi-Beast. He has four eyes just like me, so I’m sure we’re definitely long-lost brothers!" Alex said impatiently.

Quill stared at Alex for a moment. He was big and fat, with an enormous belly that was even larger than Quill’s. His entire body was covered in rolls of fat, yet he had the sheer nerve to claim he was brothers with Bi-Beast?

Quill mocked him internally, though his face maintained a bright smile. He said cheerfully, "I’d like to sign up for Championship Night."

"Not interested!" Alex snapped back, his tone thoroughly unpleasant.

Quill silently passed over a stack of cash. Alex’s expression softened slightly as he glanced at Quill and asked, "Name?"

"Daniel Danvers."

"Nickname?"

"Uh..." Quill habitually rubbed his large belly, then suddenly remembered Daniel’s ability to shoot lasers from his eyes. He said, "Cyclops."

"Alright, take this form and just show up when Championship Night starts. Another idiot coming here to get himself killed..." Alex grunted.

"That simple?" Quill asked.

"What else did you expect? I’ve seen plenty of guys like you, just acting on a sudden impulse to join, and who knows if you’ll even dare step into the ring. So, why would I need all your detailed info?" Alex said impatiently.

"Then, can I place a bet on myself winning?" Quill passed over another stack of money.

After pocketing the cash, Alex’s tone improved again. "You can place your bet once you actually step into the arena."

With that, he turned his head away to focus back on the action inside the arena.

Seeing that the guy didn’t want to talk anymore, Quill turned and left. Walking over to a quiet corner, Quill pumped his fist and shouted, "Yes!"

He felt like he was one step closer to his Lyra! Now, all he had to do was return to the ship and convince Daniel to compete. Once that happened, Lyra would be his!

Even if it was only for one night, Quill didn’t mind one bit.

"Lyra, just wait for me!"

Beaming with joy, Quill returned to Valkyrie’s ship.
