Marvel: Reincarnated as Superman

Chapter 146: Wrong Move

Valkyrie stared at Daniel warily, all traces of drunkenness having disappeared from her.

"Who the hell are you? I’ve never seen you before!" she asked coldly.

Valkyrie could sense that the man standing before her was extremely powerful, so powerful that she couldn’t see the depths of his strength, and it reminded her of that battle thousands of years ago, when there had been a woman who gave her exactly the same feeling.

That woman had slaughtered all of her comrades, leaving her as the only survivor, and after that battle, her heart had been completely broken, so she had left her homeland and come to Sakaar, where she became a scavenger, drinking herself into a stupor every day to hide the pain in her heart.

Valkyrie’s muscles tensed as she faced him like a great enemy, releasing Quill and fixing her eyes on Daniel.

Thud!

Quill landed hard on his butt. Fortunately, he had plenty of padding due to his fat; otherwise, he would have had to cover his crotch with one hand and rub his sore backside with the other.

Daniel didn’t answer Valkyrie’s question; instead, he looked at Quill, who was suffering on the ground, and said.

"I told you not to fuck with her, but you just had to do it. Now look who’s gotta deal with this mess! And she was already going easy on you. Otherwise, you’d have ended up with crushed balls."

Quill pointed at Daniel. "You!"

"Serves you right!"

Daniel kicked Quill and then smiled at Valkyrie. "Sorry for the trouble. I’ll take care of him and get him out of here."

As he spoke, he reached down and prepared to pick Quill up and leave.

"Wait!"

Valkyrie blocked Daniel’s path.

"My dagger."

She gestured toward the dagger in her hand.

"Oh, that? How much was it? I’ll pay you back."

Daniel pretended to suddenly remember. He had originally planned to sneak away, but he hadn’t expected Valkyrie to remember this little matter.

"Five million," Valkyrie named a figure.

"Transfer it to her," Daniel said, holding Quill up. It wasn’t his money anyway, so he couldn’t care less.

"That much? Why don’t you just rob us!"

Quill stopped clutching his crotch and motioned for Daniel to put him down before glaring at Valkyrie.

"That dagger of yours obviously isn’t worth that much. It broke from the slightest touch, so don’t even think about ripping me off!"

Quill had plenty of money of his own, but five million was still a ridiculous amount. With that kind of cash, he could spend the next three years chasing women without ever leaving the house and never have to settle for the same one twice!

"It’s worth that much, whether you like it or not. You’re paying!"

Valkyrie crossed her arms.

"Forget her, Daniel. Let’s go. We’ve always been the ones extorting other people, since when did we let someone extort us?" Quill grabbed Daniel and tried to leave.

"Just pay her. That dagger is worth the money." Daniel said.

Quill stared at Daniel in disbelief, and Daniel nodded at him. In the end, Quill reluctantly transferred the money to Valkyrie, practically bleeding inside at the thought of five million disappearing from his account.

Once they left the bar, Quill complained to Daniel. "You really shouldn’t have broken her dagger!"

"I broke it to save you. If I hadn’t snapped it, you’d have lost your hand! Besides, I already warned you not to mess with her," Daniel spoke calmly.

"But, but..." Quill thought about it but couldn’t come up with anything else to say, so he lowered his head and followed behind Daniel, still his heart ached terribly.

Daniel led the way, and the two of them gradually moved farther and farther from the center of the city until eventually, they arrived at an abandoned garbage dump where there wasn’t a soul in sight.

Thud!

Quill walked straight into Daniel’s back, and rubbing his head, he looked around.

"Why did we come all the way out here?"

"Come out."

Daniel ignored Quill and looked out into the empty surroundings, but not a single sound could be heard nearby.

"How could anyone be here?" Quill said. "Let’s hurry up and find a hotel, I’m tired."

"If you don’t come out, I’ll make you."

Still, there was no response.

"Stop being so paranoid!" Quill said.

Daniel fired a laser beam into the pile of garbage to his right.

Zzzzt...

A figure came rolling out awkwardly.

"It’s you!" Quill shouted when he saw the person. "You’ve been following us!"

Quill turned to Daniel and said, "She must’ve seen how easily we handed over the money and decided to rob us! Should we take the money back? We’ll split it fifty-fifty!"

Daniel was tempted for a second, but then he thought about the nine zeros at the end of his bank balance, so he just smiled, and shook his head.

"You go ahead."

"Fine, I’ll go. I wasn’t prepared back at the bar, now just watch me!"

Quill rolled up his sleeves and confidently stepped forward. After taking two steps, though, he immediately turned around and came back.

"Forget it. We don’t need the money. I’m rich anyway. Who cares about that little bit of cash?"

Valkyrie had already pointed her gun at Quill.

"You two secretly came here today, didn’t you?" Valkyrie asked.

"What does that have to do with you?" Daniel countered. "I called you out just to warn you. Stop following us, otherwise, I won’t go easy on you."

"Heh! You make it sound like I’m afraid of you. The road is right here, so I can walk wherever I want. What are you going to do about it?" Valkyrie raised her chin defiantly.

"You can try."

Daniel gave her a deep look before preparing to leave.

"Fine, I’ll try!" Valkyrie said.

"Take this!" She fired a shot at Daniel.

Daniel didn’t dodge; he simply turned around and looked at Valkyrie.

"Stop looking for trouble!"

Daniel had been making an effort to change lately, taking some time to reflect on his past mistakes. Because of that, the last thing he wanted was to get into another fight.

Seeing that Daniel was completely unharmed, Valkyrie tossed a small, button-sized device at him. It flew through the air and latched onto his neck.

"You’re way too confident!"

Valkyrie pulled out a controller, a smug smile spreading across her face.

"Now, let’s see how tough you really are."

She pressed the button. The device around Daniel’s neck crackled to life, sending a powerful electric current through him. Daniel barely reacted, standing there as if nothing had happened. The current washed over him without leaving so much as a mark.

"How is that possible?"

Valkyrie was stunned. This device could release tens of millions of volts of electricity, and even the strongest person would be left helpless after being hit by it.

"Press it again, that feels pretty good!" Daniel said.

Unwilling to give up, Valkyrie pressed the remote again.

Zzzzt...

A powerful current raced through Daniel’s body, and he looked utterly intoxicated by the sensation. Valkyrie pressed it more than a dozen times in succession.

"All right, I’m done playing with you," Daniel finally spoke.

Daniel suddenly charged toward Valkyrie. She tried to dodge, but before she could even react, he had already snatched the remote from her hand.

In one fluid motion, he pressed the button, ripped the device from his own neck, and fastened it around Valkyrie’s instead.

"Since you delivered yourself right to my doorstep, don’t blame me. Let’s have a little fun!"

Daniel pressed the button again.

Zzzzt!

Electricity surged through Valkyrie, making her whole body jerk as she dropped to the ground.

"Felt good?" Daniel asked with a grin.

"You!"

Valkyrie pointed at him, but the shock left her struggling to get the words out.

"Want another round?" Daniel pressed the button again.

"Ahhhhhh!"

Valkyrie cried out as another jolt ran through her.

Daniel turned toward Quill with a smile.

"Quill, look at her. She’s screaming so loudly because she likes it so much!"

"Yeah!"

Quill watched Valkyrie struggle and couldn’t hide his satisfaction.

"Want to try pressing it yourself?" Daniel asked.

"Can I?"

"Here."

Daniel casually tossed the remote to him. Quill was about to excitedly press the button when Daniel spoke.

"First, go find somewhere for us to stay. She’s your problem now, and once we’re in the room, you can deal with her."

"Got it!"

Quill grinned from ear to ear as he helped Valkyrie back onto her feet and followed Daniel.

Valkyrie’s entire body was weak from the electricity, and all she could do was glare fiercely at Quill.

Quill didn’t care; he leaned close to Valkyrie’s ear and whispered, "You’re in for a long night."
