Ryan Mercer was never destined to be a hero.
    An ordinary office worker with an unhealthy devotion to World of Warcraft, Ryan spent years maining the unluckiest class in the game: Warlock. His greatest battles were against terrible loot drops, impossible odds, and the universe's relentless sense of irony. Then one spectacularly stupid accident ended his life.
    Death, however, was only the beginning.
    Ryan awakens in the body of Evenson Richter, a fourteen-year-old German-American orphan living in a world that isn't quite his own. Along with the memories of his previous life comes an impossible inheritance: the inventory from his Warcraft character, complete with legendary Warlock artifacts and a spellbook capable of teaching genuine fel magic.
    There is just one problem.
    The artifacts are every bit as dangerous as the legends claim. Wield them carelessly, and they won't make him powerful. They'll consume his soul, unleash catastrophic forces, or invite the Burning Legion into a world that has never heard of Azeroth.
    Then Ryan uncovers an even greater truth.

    It's the Marvel Universe.
