Chapter 319: Before the Tomb
"I want to learn it too, but to learn the Celestial Sword Technique, you have to master all the other Sword Skills in the Sect first. I’m just not there yet," Bai Xue said.
"No way. How old are you? You still haven’t learned them all?" Chu Feng asked.
But the tone of his voice and the look in his eyes made Bai Xue want to spit blood. She was speechless with exasperation.
’This guy is so rude! It’s infuriating.’
’But there was nothing she could do. Chu Feng was truly powerful—even her master was no match for him. All she could do now was endure it.’
"Haha, I was just kidding. Don’t take it so seriously. But could you show me some of the other Sword Techniques?" Chu Feng asked, his curiosity piqued.
"I can’t. I won’t show you anything without my master’s permission," Bai Xue said firmly.
"Uh... I should be considered part of your Sect now, right? Technically, I should even be calling you Senior Sister. And you still won’t teach me?" Chu Feng said.
"Hah! Do you take me for a fool? Your power surpasses even my master’s. You’re just here for the Celestial Sword Technique, aren’t you?" Bai Xue rolled her eyes at Chu Feng.
"Yeah, wasn’t I perfectly clear? I brought your master here, and in return, she teaches me the Celestial Sword Technique. She already agreed, so she can’t go back on her word," Chu Feng said with a smile.
"By the way," Bai Xue said, tilting her head to look at Chu Feng. "The Celestial Sword Sect is composed almost entirely of female disciples. We don’t marry, and we live apart from the secular world. Are you sure you want to join our Sect?"
Hearing this, Chu Feng scoffed.
"What’s that got to do with me? I only said I want to learn the Celestial Sword Technique. As for your other rules, they’re nothing but bullshit in my eyes!" Chu Feng said.
"That’s not how it works. These rules have been in place since the founding of the Celestial Sword Sect. If you don’t agree to them, my master probably won’t teach you," Bai Xue said.
"Bullshit! What kind of idiotic rule is that? You’re born human but refuse to live like one. Are you even people anymore? What’s the damn point of practicing the Martial Dao then?" Chu Feng retorted.
"That’s not my concern. I’ve told you what you need to know. The rest is your problem," Bai Xue said.
"Hah. Don’t try to threaten me with that. It makes no difference to me whether you teach me or not. Just don’t force me to pay a visit to the Celestial Sword Sect myself. When that time comes, anyone who dares to stand in my way will be killed without mercy!" Chu Feng said, his voice ice-cold.
"Do you really think that will work? If it were that simple, the Heaven-Slaying Sword Emperor would have wiped out the Celestial Sword Sect long ago. The Celestial Sword Technique has no written records; it’s passed down purely by word of mouth."
"It’s not just the Celestial Sword Sect. In fact, the true Core Sword Techniques and Core Skills of many Sects and Martial Arts Families are transmitted orally. They are never, ever written down," Bai Xue said.
"Then is there no other way?" Chu Feng asked, frowning.
"Well, there is... unless you..." Bai Xue trailed off.
"Unless I what? Can you please not trail off mid-sentence?" Chu Feng’s frown deepened.
"It’s nothing that major. If you were to trade the Heaven-Slaying Sword Technique for it... that would probably be acceptable," Bai Xue said.
She watched Chu Feng, apparently expecting him to agonize over the difficult choice.
But when Chu Feng heard this, his eyes suddenly lit up.
"For real?" Chu Feng asked, pleasantly surprised.
’The truth was, he’d already mastered the Heaven-Slaying Sword Technique. Whether or not others knew about it didn’t really matter much to him.’
’After all, if he could trade a Sword Technique he already knew for a new one, why wouldn’t he?’
’Chu Feng loved swords, so naturally, he loved all kinds of Sword Techniques.’
’In his view, the only way to make real progress in his own Sword Dao was to absorb the essence and strengths of many different Sword Techniques.’
’Besides, he had another reason for wanting to obtain the Celestial Sword Technique.’
’He believed that the Celestial Sword Technique possessed an immense, untapped power.’
’If that power could be truly unleashed, the Celestial Sword Technique would be no weaker than the Heaven-Slaying Sword Technique—it might even be stronger.’
’The Heaven-Slaying Sword Emperor had been powerful enough to unleash the Heaven-Slaying Sword Technique’s full potential, which was why it had such a fearsome reputation.’
’In truth, any Sword Technique wielded by the Heaven-Slaying Sword Emperor would have seemed incredibly powerful.’
’It’s the person that’s strong, not the technique.’
’No matter the Sword Technique, if the user lacks the strength to unleash its true power, it’s all for nothing.’
"So, do you agree or not?" Bai Xue asked.
Seeing his reaction, she couldn’t quite figure out what he was thinking.
’After all, the Heaven-Slaying Sword Technique was incredibly famous.’
’Any ordinary person would probably be unwilling to trade it for the Celestial Sword Technique.’
"I agree! Of course, I agree! If you’ll let me trade, I’ll do it right now. I was actually worried you wouldn’t," Chu Feng said.
"You can’t be serious. You really want to trade the Heaven-Slaying Sword Technique for the Celestial Sword Technique?" Bai Xue stared at Chu Feng in utter disbelief.
The look she gave him was one you’d give an idiot.
