Chapter 225: At All Costs
No one had ever witnessed such a bloody scene.
The point was, with a single stomp, Chu Feng had managed to crush the man’s arm into a pulp. It was beyond terrifying.
The drivers who had been about to run Chu Feng down with their front-loaders were now pale, their legs trembling uncontrollably.
They were utterly terrified, and for a moment, they didn’t know what to do.
"This... This..." They exchanged glances, their faces deathly pale.
It wasn’t just them. Even Secretary Wang and his driver were scared witless.
The two of them were gulping nervously, trying to hide it. This was too damn terrifying.
In truth, the secretary’s legs were already trembling. If he hadn’t been forcing himself to stand, he probably would have pissed his pants in fear.
He’d been around and seen plenty, but he’d never encountered anyone like Chu Feng before.
Ma Lin, wincing in pain, pulled out his phone.
His face twisted in agony and rage.
"You... you bastard, just you wait!" Ma Lin howled in pain, still trying to threaten Chu Feng viciously.
The man was utterly defiant, refusing to believe he had lost.
Chu Feng’s furious gaze swept over the crowd. No one dared meet his gaze.
Not unless they had a death wish.
Chu Feng’s glare was so terrifying that a single glance was enough to scare the piss out of them.
"Chu Feng, get back here!" Chu Yuntian cried out, thoroughly frightened by his son’s actions.
Nearby, the villagers holding the stretcher felt their hair stand on end.
Everyone who saw it was terrified.
Chu Feng was just too ruthless. He was practically scaring them to death.
Anyone in this situation would probably be just as terrified.
After all, Ma Lin was no saint. The power behind him was immense—so immense that no one dared to defy him.
Initially, Chu Yuntian and the others had considered fighting back. But once they learned about the power of the family behind Ma Lin, they gave up all hope.
Continuing to resist would have brought devastating consequences for the entire village.
This was why they were so terrified of Chu Feng’s actions.
The reason was simple: if they made a mortal enemy of Ma Lin, there would be no turning back.
"Dad, don’t worry," Su Miaoke said, equally furious, as she hurried to comfort him. "What’s a paltry Jiangshui Building Materials Group? They dare to bully you? I’ll make sure they pay for this today!"
Su Miaoke immediately made a call.
"Boss Jiang?" Su Miaoke called Jiang Tao right away.
"Ah, Sister-in-law, what is it? What happened? Is something wrong?" At that moment, Jiang Tao was having tea with Wang Hong and a few others.
"We’ve run into some trouble," Su Miaoke said. "Do you know of Jiangshui Building Materials Group?"
She then explained everything that had happened.
Hearing this, Jiang Tao, on the other end of the line, instantly erupted in fury.
SMASH!
He hurled the teacup in his hand, his face a mask of rage.
"Son of a bitch! They’ve gone too far!" Jiang Tao roared.
Hearing this, Wang Hong and the others who were with him all shot to their feet and looked at Jiang Tao.
"Old Jiang, what’s wrong? What happened?" Wang Hong asked.
"Sister-in-law, don’t worry. Leave this to me," Jiang Tao assured Su Miaoke. "I may not be in the building materials business myself, but I have plenty of brothers who are. I’ll have them cancel all their contracts with Jiangshui Building Materials Group right now. They’ll be blacklisted!"
With that, Jiang Tao hung up.
"Old Jiang, this isn’t about Brother Chu, is it?" Wang Hong asked.
Jiang Tao nodded. "It is. Brother Chu’s parents were bullied by Ma Lin, the son of Ma Feng from Jiangshui Building Materials Group. Both of them are injured."
"What?" Wang Hong and the others were stunned. They hadn’t expected something so serious to have happened.
They were all on good terms with Jiang Tao, so they knew a little about Chu Feng.
Although Jiang Tao had never told them explicitly, they had all guessed that Chu Feng was backed by a Martial Arts Family and had strong ties to both Zhao Liu and the Zhao Family.
This was a prime opportunity to get in his good graces.
And no one was willing to let this chance slip by.
"If you want to build a connection with Brother Chu, now’s your chance," Jiang Tao said to the three men before him.
These three were all tycoons in the building materials industry.
One was from Zhongnan Building Materials Group, another from Beihai Building Materials Group, and the last from Southwest Building Materials Group.
"I’ll contact my secretary right away," Wang Hong said with a nod.
"Don’t worry, Old Jiang. We know what to do," the other two men agreed with a nod.
They understood the situation perfectly now. On one side was Jiangshui Building Materials Group. On the other was a major figure backed by a Martial Arts Family and the Zhao Family.
It was obvious which side held more weight.
After Ma Lin finished calling his father, Ma Feng was soon on his way.
He had been in a meeting in the county, so he was close by; it would only take him a little over ten minutes to get there.
Just then, Secretary Wang received a call from Wang Hong.
"Xiao Wang, I don’t care what you have to do, but you must protect Mr. Chu’s safety at all costs. I’ll take full responsibility for anything that happens!" Wang Hong gave him an absolute order.
Secretary Wang was stunned.
He had worked for Wang Hong for many years, but this was the first time he had ever heard his boss so determined to protect someone. It was utterly shocking.
"Yes, President Wang. Rest assured, I’ll take care of it," Secretary Wang replied with a nod.
With things having been spelled out so clearly, how could an old fox like Secretary Wang, with all his years of experience, not understand the implications?
Secretary Wang immediately began making calls.
"Hello, Xiao Liu? I need you to get some people over to Fuhe Village right away. There’s an urgent matter to deal with. Get the heads of the legal and security departments over here, now," Secretary Wang ordered.
At that moment, Chu Feng returned to his father’s side. Looking at his old man, the rage in his heart burned even hotter.
But he didn’t lash out. He simply placed a hand gently on his father’s leg.
Chu Yuntian was about to say something when he suddenly felt a gentle warmth spreading through his leg.
"This..." Chu Yuntian started to say.
But then he saw the look in Chu Feng’s eyes and froze, as if he’d suddenly remembered something.
"You..." Chu Yuntian began, but Chu Feng gave a slight nod, stopping him from saying more.
Seeing Chu Feng’s silent confirmation, Chu Yuntian’s eyes immediately welled up.
"Good! Good! Good!" he said, repeating the word three times.
