Chapter 217: Something Big Has Happened
"So you’re saying you want to sleep with other people’s wives?" Su Miaoke asked, glaring at Chu Feng.
Hearing this, Chu Feng immediately tried to explain himself.
"No, no, no! I wouldn’t dare! And I don’t want to." Chu Feng’s survival instincts kicked in.
"Still trying to be a smartass? Let’s just go home. I’m getting sleepy," Su Miaoke said, displeased.
She had been worried sick all night.
Especially when Chu Feng had said he was going to the Inspection Bureau. Su Miaoke had been on the verge of calling in every favor she could.
Thankfully, Chu Feng was alright.
"Boss, what about me?" Zhao Quan asked, looking at Chu Feng as he left.
Zhao Quan was actually starting to panic. After all, his strength was no match for the One-Eyed Dragon.
He was worried the One-Eyed Dragon would suddenly wake up and he wouldn’t be able to handle him.
"Ask your Uncle Qi. If that doesn’t work, just have them turn around and come back," Chu Feng said with a wave of his hand.
Chu Feng couldn’t be bothered with all this. Right now, the most important thing was taking his wife home to bed.
Soon, Chu Feng and Su Miaoke disappeared into the night.
They didn’t head back to the Bright Moon Mountain Villa. It was a bit far from where they were, and Beibai Village was closer.
So, the two of them returned to Beibai Village and decided to spend the night at the Beihai Bay Villa.
Even at this hour, Beibai Village was still brightly lit. After all, a massive three-day banquet was underway, so people were busy preparing ingredients through the night.
People were even setting off fireworks from time to time, creating a very festive atmosphere.
Even late at night, anyone who was hungry could come and eat whenever they wanted. It was like a giant canteen, and all the ingredients were top-notch.
When the two of them arrived at the Beihai Bay Villa, Chu Feng couldn’t help but marvel.
"It’s not just the location that’s great; the view at night is beautiful too," Chu Feng remarked admiringly.
"Of course. Honey, you cured such a serious illness for him, so he was bound to repay you. Gifting a villa like this is perfectly normal. If it were me, I wouldn’t just give one villa, I’d give ten," Su Miaoke said with a laugh.
The entire villa’s interior was lavishly decorated in a style that both Chu Feng and Su Miaoke liked, so there was no need to redecorate.
Everything was brand new, and they could move in at a moment’s notice.
A dedicated cleaning staff came every day, so the place was spotless.
The next morning, Chu Feng got a call from Jiang Tao.
"Brother Jiang, what’s up?" Chu Feng mumbled, still half-asleep.
Neither of them had done any Cultivation last night, choosing instead to get a good night’s sleep.
After all, it had been a long time since either of them had slept properly.
"Brother Chu! You’ve saved me again! I really don’t know how I can ever thank you enough," Jiang Tao said, his voice filled with excitement and gratitude.
"Oh, that? Don’t mention it. I barely slept last night. Can you let me get a little more sleep?" Chu Feng said wearily.
"Okay! I’ll come find you at noon, Brother Chu. Are you at the Bright Moon Mountain Villa?" Jiang Tao asked.
"No, I’m in Beihai Bay, at the villa you gave me," Chu Feng said before hanging up.
Then, he wrapped his arm around Su Miaoke, and the two of them went right back to sleep.
They slept straight through until noon. After waking up and getting ready, they came downstairs to find Jiang Tao already waiting for them.
"Brother Jiang, when did you get here? Come on in, have a seat," Chu Feng said, opening the door to let him in.
It was high noon, and the sun was blazing.
Jiang Tao had been standing under it for quite some time and was drenched in sweat.
But even so, he hadn’t uttered a single word of complaint.
"I just got here," Jiang Tao said as he walked in. Chu Feng turned on the air conditioning, and Jiang Tao let out a huge sigh of relief.
Anyone could see that Jiang Tao had been waiting outside in the sun for a long time.
"Brother Chu, I really have you to thank for last night. If it weren’t for you, I’m afraid I’d be dead by now," Jiang Tao said with utmost sincerity.
"Brother Jiang, there’s no need for that between us," Chu Feng said, waving his hand to stop him.
But Jiang Tao didn’t stop, continuing on his own, "My wife told me everything that happened last night first thing this morning. It was too close! If you hadn’t arrived in time, Brother Chu, it would’ve been all over."
"Don’t worry, those two have been caught. They won’t get another chance to hurt anyone," Chu Feng said with a smile.
"I heard they were Martial Cultivators. Did I offend someone? Brother, I know you’re well-connected with those Martial Cultivation Families. Do you have any inside information you could share?" Jiang Tao asked, his face etched with worry.
"Ah, Brother, you don’t have to worry. Those two were just after your money; you didn’t offend any Martial Arts Family. You can rest easy. The two master thieves have been captured and handed over to the Zhao Family. They won’t be getting away," Chu Feng explained.
"That’s good, that’s good. Thank you so much, brother. You’ve saved me again... no, you’ve saved my entire family," Jiang Tao said with heartfelt gratitude.
If it hadn’t been for Chu Feng, he could have accepted his own death, but his wife would have been violated, and their unborn child would have been lost.
"If you keep saying ’thank you,’ you’ll make things awkward between us," Chu Feng said, shooting him a smiling, sidelong glance.
Jiang Tao immediately replied, "Alright, I won’t say it again. I’ll just remember this kindness in my heart."
Then Jiang Tao added, "Brother, Sister-in-law, come on, let’s go get something to eat."
Jiang Tao quickly led Chu Feng and his wife back to the main area in Beibai Village, where a hundred tables were already filled with people.
It was a top-tier, luxurious banquet that lasted for three days straight. Who would possibly want to miss it?
So, everyone was there, eating to their hearts’ content.
Jiang Tao led Chu Feng and his wife to the head table, where only the rich and powerful were seated.
Jiang Tao began introducing Chu Feng to the important figures at the table.
His intention was clearly to have them all get acquainted.
After all, with Chu Feng’s status and standing, he could easily hold his own among these so-called elites.
Many of them were secretly shocked when they learned of Chu Feng’s identity and quickly started to engage him in conversation.
Suddenly, Chu Feng received a phone call.
It was from his parents.
"Hey, Dad. What’s wrong?" Chu Feng suddenly had a bad feeling.
"Son, where are you? You need to come back right away. Something terrible has happened in the village!" Chu Yuntian said urgently.
"Huh? What happened? Dad, tell me what’s going on. I’m on my way back now." Without even finishing his meal, Chu Feng pulled Su Miaoke up and they left together.
"Someone is trying to forcibly buy out our village. We refused, and now they’ve sent people to cause trouble. A lot of the villagers have been hurt because of it," Chu Yuntian said, his voice filled with anxiety.
