My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

Chapter 190: Lost the Duel

Su Miaoke looked at Chu Feng, sensing that something was up, and grew very curious.

"It’s Zhao Quan," said Chu Feng. "He says he needs my help with something."

"What is it? He hasn’t contacted us in a long time, has he?" Su Miaoke asked, looking just as puzzled.

"I’m not sure. It must be something urgent. Judging by his tone, it’s no small matter," said Chu Feng.

"So when is he coming?" Su Miaoke asked.

"He should be here any minute. I just sent him the address," Chu Feng replied.

"All right, then. I’m going to go practice my sword. You take care," Su Miaoke said, then left with her sword in hand.

A short while later, Zhao Quan drove up to Chu Feng’s place.

Wu Yongzhi stopped Zhao Quan at the gate.

"Hello, may I ask who you’re looking for?" Wu Yongzhi asked as he stepped out of the guardhouse.

"I’m looking for my big brother, Chu Feng," Zhao Quan said frantically. He was driving a supercar and decked out in designer clothes.

"One moment, please." Wu Yongzhi picked up his phone to call Chu Feng for confirmation.

"Understood. Yes, sir!" Wu Yongzhi quickly got his answer.

"You may enter." Wu Yongzhi gave Zhao Quan a crisp military salute.

As Zhao Quan drove inside, a grave expression settled over Wu Yongzhi’s face.

"What is it, Captain? You don’t look so good." Xiao Liu, who was standing nearby, noticed something was off with Wu Yongzhi and decided to ask.

"Didn’t you notice? That man has a very unusual aura, just like our boss. They must be the same kind of person," Wu Yongzhi said to Xiao Liu.

"An unusual aura? I wasn’t paying close attention. Is he a martial artist, too?" Xiao Liu asked, looking puzzled.

"No. That young man who just drove in... he’s most likely from one of the legendary Martial Arts Families," said Wu Yongzhi.

"A Martial Arts Family? Like our old chief instructor?" Xiao Liu asked curiously.

"Yes." Wu Yongzhi nodded.

"Next time you see him, let him straight through. Don’t get in his way," Wu Yongzhi instructed.

You can’t afford to provoke someone from a Martial Arts Family. If you do, there will be hell to pay.

"Okay, I got it." Xiao Liu nodded gravely. He knew how terrifying people from these Martial Arts Families could be. If you offended one, you could easily get killed with a single punch.

And then you couldn’t even go to Mr. Chu to plead your case.

Just as Zhao Quan drove in, Chu Feng was walking out of the Alchemy Room.

"What’s wrong?" Chu Feng asked.

Zhao Quan stopped the car and looked around. Even without going inside, he could smell a thick scent of medicinal herbs.

"Big Brother, what are you doing here? Stockpiling herbs?" Zhao Quan asked, confused.

As a member of the Zhao Family’s younger generation, he had grown up around medicinal herbs. He could identify them by scent alone.

"Yeah. But let’s talk about you. What’s so urgent?" Chu Feng answered vaguely, quickly changing the subject.

He didn’t want to get into a long discussion with Zhao Quan about the herbs.

"Big Brother, is Sister-in-law around? Would you be free to come with me somewhere tonight?" Zhao Quan asked cautiously.

"She’s here. What’s all this about being ’free’? Where do you want to go? Just spit it out." Chu Feng frowned, wondering why Zhao Quan was being so mysterious.

"You two can go if you have something to do." Just then, Su Miaoke’s voice drifted down from upstairs.

"Awesome! Thanks, Sister-in-law!" Zhao Quan shouted his thanks, then immediately started pulling Chu Feng toward the car.

"Where are we going?" Chu Feng asked.

But Zhao Quan didn’t answer, just urged him to get in the car.

Once they were in, Zhao Quan turned the car around and sped out of the compound.

"So, what’s really going on?" Chu Feng asked again.

"Big Brother, here’s the thing. I’m in massive trouble, and you’re the only one who can help me. If you don’t, I’m a dead man," Zhao Quan said frantically, his face etched with fear and anxiety.

"Is it really that serious?" Chu Feng asked, frowning.

"Of course it is!" Zhao Quan nodded emphatically.

"So what kind of trouble are you in? Can’t Zhao Qinghan help you deal with it?" Chu Feng asked, confused.

Logically, as a disciple of the Zhao Family, he should have gone to Zhao Qinghan for help, since she was the leader of their generation.

"Sister Qinghan doesn’t know. If she finds out, I’m even more finished! She’ll skin me alive!" Zhao Quan said, his face pale with worry.

"You didn’t steal something of hers, did you?" Chu Feng asked, looking at Zhao Quan.

Zhao Quan glanced at Chu Feng, then nodded.

"I didn’t mean to! I just wanted to borrow it for fun. But then I ran into some guys from the Tang Family. They egged me on, I ended up making a bet with them, and... I lost," Zhao Quan forced himself to explain.

Hearing this, Chu Feng couldn’t help but frown.

"You stole something and then gambled with the Tang Family?" Chu Feng found it incredible. ’This guy can’t be very bright.’

"Brother Chu, I know I messed up. You have to help me, or I’m screwed," Zhao Quan pleaded, his face a mask of anxiety.

"What did you lose? What was the bet? And how did you lose? Tell me everything, in detail," Chu Feng said, his own expression growing serious.

’The Tang Family again.’

After their last encounter, the Tang Family had been keeping their distance.

But now, Zhao Quan had gone and stirred up trouble with them himself.

"The thing I lost... it was a seal. It belongs to the Zhao Family and was supposed to be in Sister Qinghan’s keeping. With that seal, you can mobilize all of the Zhao Family’s resources in Beihai. I just wanted to borrow it to look cool, but I ran into the Tang Family," Zhao Quan said with a grimace.

"So who from the Tang Family did you bet with? Tang Chuxia?" Chu Feng asked.

"No, it was a guy named Tang San. I heard he just arrived from the main Tang Family to investigate Tang Mu’s death," said Zhao Quan.

"Then why on earth did you make a bet with him? Are you an idiot?" Chu Feng couldn’t help but roll his eyes.

"He provoked me, and I lost my temper. We fought, and it turns out he’s insanely strong—way stronger than even Sister Qinghan," Zhao Quan said miserably.

The truth was, he’d wanted to show off in front of his buddies by pushing around someone from the Tang Family, but he’d ended up picking a fight he couldn’t win.

"So that’s why you don’t dare tell Zhao Qinghan. You don’t think even she could beat this Tang San, right?" Chu Feng said.

"Yeah, yeah. You’re brilliant, Big Brother." Zhao Quan nodded his head vigorously, like a chicken pecking at grain.

"I don’t know what to do with you," Chu Feng said. "What makes you so sure I can beat him?"
