Chapter 130: The Meeting
"Sister Zhou, let me introduce you. This is my daughter, Miaoke, and this is my son-in-law, Chu Feng," Chu Feng’s mother-in-law hurriedly introduced them.
"Miaoke is married? Why didn’t anyone tell me?" Sister Zhou asked, looking pleasantly surprised.
"Aunt Zhou, we just got our marriage license not long ago and haven’t had the wedding ceremony yet. I’ll definitely let you know when we do," Su Miaoke said.
"Good! I’ll have to get you a big gift then. Don’t just stand there, let’s go inside," Sister Zhou said with a smile.
When the security guard at the door saw Sister Zhou walk in, he immediately stood up and called out respectfully, "Good day, Madam Zhou!"
After all, this company belonged to Sister Zhou’s family, so it was only natural for the security guard to recognize her.
After entering the factory grounds, the group headed straight for the office.
"Have a seat and drink some tea. Once they start their shift, I’ll call the person over," Sister Zhou said amicably as she poured tea for everyone.
The office was very large and lavishly decorated, clearly intended for receiving important guests.
Then, the women began to discuss what pretext they could use to meet Su Jun’s girlfriend without scaring her off.
"Oh, Little Sister Zhao, you’re really something. Your son just graduated, and you’re already in a hurry to find him a partner? Eager to hold a grandchild already?" Sister Zhou teased.
"Of course! At my age, it would be nice to help look after his kids. Otherwise, playing mahjong and going shopping every day gets so boring," Chu Feng’s mother-in-law said happily.
"Sigh, speaking of which, my son is a few years older than yours and he’s still in school. Sometimes I wish he’d just quit, come back, get married, and let me hold a grandchild too," Sister Zhou said with a sigh.
"Exactly. For a man, it’s not about how much money he makes. As long as he can settle down, get married, have kids, and carry on the family line, that’s what matters," Chu Feng’s mother-in-law agreed.
The two of them seemed to have endless things to talk about.
After discussing for about half an hour, they finally came to a decision.
Chu Feng’s mother-in-law wanted the company’s management to call the girl over directly. Then, the mother-in-law herself would invite her out for a good chat.
Sister Zhou was even more magnanimous, saying she could take as much time as she needed, even if it was a year or two off work, and her salary would be paid as usual.
The two women’s conversation startled Chu Feng. ’You can do things like this?’
"Mom, Aunt Zhou, isn’t this a little too sudden? Just taking her out like that? Won’t that scare the poor girl?" Chu Feng said.
"Well, do you have a better idea, Xiao Feng? A bride has to meet the in-laws eventually. Besides, I hear my future daughter-in-law is very pretty," said Chu Feng’s mother-in-law.
In truth, Chu Feng’s mother-in-law was extremely satisfied with her son-in-law, Chu Feng. Therefore, she was always willing to accept his opinions and suggestions.
Plus, his mother-in-law already knew about the time Chu Feng won tens of billions by gambling in international waters, which made her even more pleased with him.
"I’m not sure what to suggest. Let’s just go with what you said, Mom. But you need to be calm. Don’t start interrogating her the moment you meet, you’ll scare her off," Chu Feng said.
"That’s right, Mom loves to give people the third degree. No matter who it is, you can’t wait to investigate every single thing about them," Su Miaoke added from the side.
"I know, I know. I do have some self-control, you know," Chu Feng’s mother-in-law said confidently.
Chu Feng and Su Miaoke exchanged a helpless glance.
They both knew his mother-in-law would definitely ask a million questions. They could only hope she wouldn’t frighten the girl away.
"Sister Zhou, hurry up and have someone bring her over," Chu Feng’s mother-in-law said eagerly.
Sister Zhou took out her phone, smiling at Chu Feng’s mother-in-law as she said, "Little Sister Zhao, I don’t remember you being this excited about that young lady from the Liu Family. They came to your door to discuss it so many times, but you weren’t interested. Why are you so fond of this particular girl?"
Chu Feng’s mother-in-law said with a hint of helplessness, "That young lady from the Liu Family, she has a good background and would have been a good match for my Jun, but her temper is just awful. She’d probably fight with me all the time if she married into the family. I can’t have that kind of daughter-in-law. I like the one my Jun found for himself. She’s the kind of daughter-in-law I’ve always dreamed of."
Hearing this, Sister Zhou couldn’t help but laugh as she dialed the number.
A moment later, she hung up.
"She should be here any minute," Sister Zhou said.
Not long after, a knock sounded at the door.
"Come in," Sister Zhou called out.
The office door opened, and a middle-aged female supervisor saw Sister Zhou inside. She said respectfully, "Madam, I’ve brought her."
Hearing this, Sister Zhou nodded and said, "You may go. Let the young lady come in and speak."
"You can go in. President Zhou is calling for you," the middle-aged female supervisor said to Su Jun’s girlfriend.
’The supervisor was also incredibly confused. She never thought Madam Zhou would personally ask to see this young girl.’
’Could it be that this girl has some special background?’
Immediately, Chu Feng’s mother-in-law walked up, took Su Jun’s girlfriend by the hand, and said, "Come, come sit over here. Let’s sit down and chat."
This move by Chu Feng’s mother-in-law completely stunned the young woman, leaving her at a loss and utterly confused about the situation.
But the moment Chu Feng’s mother-in-law saw the girl, her face beamed with a smile so wide she was practically grinning from ear to ear.
It was clear just how happy she was.
Chu Feng was also surprised to discover that above the young woman’s head, there were Merit Points!
points!
While it wasn’t a huge amount, it was still a rare sight, especially for a girl in her twenties.
This was enough to show that the young woman had a very kind heart.
"Hello, Ma’ams. May I ask why you wanted to see me?" the young woman asked politely, suppressing her fear.
"We’re not executives, so don’t be scared. Come, let’s sit and talk. Just relax," Chu Feng’s mother-in-law quickly reassured her.
"That’s right, we just wanted to have a little chat with you. Are you hungry? The cafeteria food probably isn’t very good, so you might not have eaten your fill. How about we go out to eat and talk?" Sister Zhou chimed in from the side.
It was her family’s factory, so of course she knew how terrible the food was.
But there was nothing to be done about it. After all, with so many people to feed at the same time, food from a massive pot was never going to taste as good as a small, freshly cooked meal.
The two women went back and forth, leaving Chu Feng and Su Miaoke unsure of how to get a word in. All they could do was watch from the side.
"Thank you for your kindness, Ma’ams. I’ve already eaten in the cafeteria, so I’m not hungry right now," the young woman said very politely.
This made Chu Feng’s mother-in-law even more satisfied. She nodded repeatedly, her face beaming with happiness.
