My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

Chapter 91: You Can’t Afford to Offend

Dozens of feet behind Hu Biao, Li Susu’s brow furrowed. She had overheard the conversation between him and Chu Feng.

She couldn’t make out every word, but she got the gist of it.

She was stunned. She never would have thought that Hu Biao, the general manager of the Beihai Hotel, would refuse to take Chu Feng’s money.

Moreover, he was so polite to Chu Feng, treating him as if he were some major figure.

After all, anyone who could afford to dine at the Beihai Hotel was worth at least several million, if not pushing ten million. Ordinary millionaires wouldn’t even dare to spend money here.

And for someone to warrant such a polite and respectful send-off from Hu Biao... not even a big boss worth over a billion would necessarily receive that treatment.

Her husband was rich, a multi-millionaire, but his net worth wasn’t enough to get this kind of deferential treatment from Hu Biao at the Beihai Hotel.

Huang Bin had also seen Hu Biao talking with Chu Feng, so he walked over and asked, "President Hu, do you know that kid?"

"Yes, I do," Hu Biao nodded, but his tone held a hint of resignation.

Because Chu Feng didn’t recognize him.

"Why? Is there a problem?" Hu Biao asked in return.

Huang Bin might have had a little money, worth a few million, but in Hu Biao’s eyes, he was a nobody.

"Not at all. Those two guys are my old classmates. The one talking to you, President Hu, was Chu Feng, and the one next to him is Gao Feng," Huang Bin said. He was trying to fish for information from Hu Biao, because he had a feeling there was something unusual about Chu Feng’s status.

"Oh? You’re a classmate of Mr. Chu? Really? I don’t recall Mr. Chu ever mentioning you. And if you’re classmates, why didn’t I see you eating together?" Hu Biao questioned.

"We just had a small... situation. So what’s the deal with my classmate, Chu Feng? Even you, President Hu, are so polite to him," Huang Bin asked, refusing to give up.

"Mr. Chu is a friend of our Sixth Master. He often goes over to have tea with him. And that lady next to him is the heiress of the Su Group. I don’t know what happened between you all, but I do know that Mr. Chu is likely quite displeased with you!"

"Kid, let me give you a piece of advice. You’d better not provoke Mr. Chu, or you’ll regret it. Since you’re done eating, go pay your bill. The total is three hundred and sixty thousand."

Hu Biao said coolly. Having been in this business for so many years, he had long since developed a pair of sharp, discerning eyes.

He knew exactly what was going on. Huang Bin must have done something to upset Chu Feng; their relationship was clearly poor. If they were on good terms, things wouldn’t be like this.

Besides, he’d already heard a few things from the waitstaff. It seemed this kid had been looking down on Chu Feng.

"Okay, I’ll pay right now. President Hu, would it be convenient for you to share what that guy Chu Feng does now? What’s his situation?" Huang Bin asked fawningly.

"Who do you think you are? You think I have to tell you just because you ask? Your entire bill here doesn’t even add up to what Mr. Chu spends on a single meal. What gives you the right to know his identity? I’d advise you to watch yourself," Hu Biao said coldly.

Since this guy had offended Chu Feng, Hu Biao naturally wasn’t going to be pleasant to him. It’s not like he was anyone important.

He had plenty of minor bosses worth a few million coming through here. He wouldn’t miss Huang Bin’s business.

Someone who could hang out with Zhao Liu—could their status possibly be low? They had to be a person of immense wealth and prestige.

"President Hu, aren’t you going a little too far?!" Huang Bin’s expression was hideous. He couldn’t believe Hu Biao was disrespecting him so brazenly, especially when he was already being so humble.

"Three hundred and sixty thousand. Card or cash?" Hu Biao couldn’t be bothered with him. As for Li Susu next to Huang Bin, Hu Biao couldn’t be bothered with her either.

’Anyone who hangs around with people who’ve offended Chu Feng is doomed sooner or later!’

’So what if her husband was a multi-millionaire? Was he richer than Zhao Liu?’

Huang Bin was about to say something more, but Li Susu stopped him.

"Just pay so we can leave," Li Susu said.

Although she had married into wealth, she understood one thing very clearly: there were far too many rich people in Beihai City.

With her husband’s net worth, they absolutely could not afford to make an enemy of the Beihai Hotel. After all, the man behind it was Sixth Master Zhao.

After paying the bill and leaving the Beihai Hotel, Huang Bin looked thoroughly displeased.

The other classmates were already dumbfounded. Even the general manager of the Beihai Hotel was so polite to Chu Feng.

"I can’t believe Chu Feng is doing so well for himself now. We shouldn’t have let him leave earlier!" one classmate said.

"Yeah, that guy’s so ungenerous. He’s made it big but won’t even help out his old classmates!" another one complained.

"Ugh, I should have just left with him. I could’ve made a connection by now. If he just set me up with a good job, why would I even need to work so hard!" a female classmate griped, full of regret.

"Enough! All of you, shut up! You’ve had your fill, so go home," Huang Bin snapped.

He looked at his classmates, who were now all regretting that they hadn’t latched onto Chu Feng’s coattails. It made him furious.

Just moments ago in the private room, these same people had been sucking up to him one after another.

Hearing Huang Bin’s words, the other classmates, though angry, didn’t say anything. They just went their separate ways.

"I never would have guessed. That Chu Feng was really hiding his true strength!" Huang Bin said, grinding his teeth.

"Alright, it’s been so long since graduation, and you haven’t kept in touch. It’s normal. Let’s just go. We can talk about other things later," Li Susu said.

"Hah... let’s go," Huang Bin said with a sigh.

The whole point of today’s gathering, aside from asking Li Susu for a favor, was for him to show off in front of his old classmates.

He wanted to enjoy the feeling of being flattered.

But he never expected it to end like this. The real joke, it turned out, was him.

Meanwhile, Su Miaoke drove to Gao Feng’s factory.

To call it a factory was a stretch; it was more like a small storefront.

Furthermore, Gao Feng’s "factory" was located in an industrial park—and not a very large one at that—which housed nearly twenty small factories of varying sizes.

It was basically a collection of small workshops.

However, despite being small workshops, they were bustling with people, and the lights were blazing.

Even at this hour, many people were still working overtime, rushing to get shipments out.

The entrances were piled high with all sorts of goods, looking utterly chaotic.

"This is your factory?" Su Miaoke asked.

She was inwardly surprised, as this was the first time she had ever seen a factory like this.

"Yeah. My funds are limited, so it’s a bit of a small start. It’s just up ahead," Gao Feng said awkwardly.

He knew that in Su Miaoke’s eyes, a small workshop like his was practically nothing—like the leg of a mosquito.

"Gao Feng Plastics?" Chu Feng was a bit speechless when he saw the factory’s name.

"Could you be any lazier? Even your company name is so uninspired," Chu Feng commented.
