My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

Chapter 90: No Charge

"Yeah, life is just that hard. But a man can’t say he’s beat. No matter how tough or tiring it gets, you have to push through," Chu Feng said with a nod.

He completely understood the pressure Gao Feng was under and could deeply empathize with him.

After all, before he met Su Miaoke, his own life had been full of frustration and immense pressure, with no hope in sight.

"Once my career is stable, you better introduce me to someone. When I get married, you have to be there, and you better bring a gift!" Gao Feng said with a laugh, slinging an arm around Chu Feng’s neck.

"Don’t worry, that’s a given," Chu Feng replied with a smile.

The two had been extremely close back in college. Even after five years without seeing each other, their bond hadn’t faded.

About twenty minutes later, Su Miaoke arrived and pushed open the door to the private room.

She saw Chu Feng and Gao Feng with their arms around each other’s necks, pouring their hearts out. Numerous empty bottles were scattered across the table.

Those two had drunk quite a lot.

"Honey, you’re here." Chu Feng happened to turn his head and saw Su Miaoke.

Hearing Chu Feng’s words, Gao Feng curiously looked over.

"Is that... your wife?" The moment Gao Feng saw Su Miaoke, he was stunned.

He never imagined Chu Feng’s wife would be so beautiful.

She was tall and slender, with a thick mane of jet-black hair cascading over her shoulders. Her exquisite, stunning face left Gao Feng completely mesmerized.

A single phrase immediately came to Gao Feng’s mind: otherworldly beauty!

"That’s right. This is your sister-in-law," Chu Feng said.

"Feng, you’ve had a lot to drink. I’ll have your sister-in-law get you a room here at the hotel. Rest for the night and leave tomorrow," Chu Feng said, patting Gao Feng’s shoulder.

"No need to go to all that trouble and expense. I can just call someone to come pick me up," Gao Feng said. He felt like the sight of Su Miaoke had sobered him up considerably.

After all, he was a small business owner now. He could at least call an employee to come get him.

"Hello, you must be the classmate Chu Feng mentioned," Su Miaoke said with a faint smile.

"Yes, President Su. My name is Gao Feng. Chu Feng and I were classmates in college; we’re very good friends," Gao Feng said.

"Gao Feng, you know me?" Su Miaoke was a little curious how this classmate knew her surname was Su.

"I’ve heard Chu Feng mention you," Gao Feng said, scratching his head.

"Is it just the two of you, or have the others already left?" Su Miaoke asked.

"Just the two of us," Chu Feng answered.

"Just the two of you? Why not drink at home? Anyway, have you had enough?" Su Miaoke said.

Su Miaoke didn’t mind Chu Feng drinking outside or getting together with friends and classmates. After all, people need a social life.

Besides, she trusted Chu Feng. He knew his limits and wouldn’t do anything reckless.

Being cooped up at home all day is so boring. Over time, anyone would get sick from the confinement.

"We’ve had plenty, plenty. I still have to head back to the company. There are some things I need to take care of," Gao Feng said quickly.

"It’s almost eleven o’clock, and you’re still going back to the office?" Su Miaoke asked.

"Yeah, some orders are rush jobs. I have to oversee them," Gao Feng said.

"Is it that urgent?" Su Miaoke was a bit confused.

"I have no choice. It’s an order for your company, President Su. How could I not put in the extra effort to get the goods produced early?" Gao Feng said with a smile.

"Your factory is producing products for our company?" Su Miaoke asked in surprise.

Many large corporations and enterprises don’t process all their raw materials in-house. A lot of that work is outsourced to third-party companies.

"Yes, delivery is in two days, so the schedule is pretty tight," Gao Feng said.

"Since you and Chu Feng are such good friends, could I go take a look at your factory?" Su Miaoke asked.

In truth, she was doing this entirely for Chu Feng’s sake. Because Gao Feng and Chu Feng were close, Su Miaoke took the initiative, hoping to help out if she could.

"Really? You want to come inspect my factory? That would be... I must have done something right in my past eight lives to deserve this!" Gao Feng said, instantly excited.

He was thrilled that Su Miaoke might visit his factory, especially since she was the one who suggested it.

This meant Su Miaoke would likely continue to work with him, and might even give him more orders.

"Of course, it’s true. I wonder if President Gao would give me the opportunity?" Su Miaoke said with a smile.

"That’s wonderful! I’d love for you to come and take a look," Gao Feng said.

"Alright. Since you two are about done drinking anyway, let’s head over now," Su Miaoke said.

"Sounds good. We can keep chatting on the way," Chu Feng agreed.

He and Gao Feng hadn’t seen each other in five years, and it truly felt like they had endless things to talk about.

The three of them then left the private room and headed for the cashier.

Hu Biao was standing in the lobby. The moment he saw Chu Feng’s group emerge from the room, he immediately scurried over.

"Mr. Chu, how was your meal? Was everything to your satisfaction?" Hu Biao asked with a polite smile.

"It was great. President Hu, tally up the bill. I’ll pay by card," Chu Feng said, taking out his bank card.

As luck would have it, Huang Bin and Li Susu also came out of their private room and were walking in their direction.

Hearing their voices, Gao Feng’s expression flickered with displeasure, but Chu Feng acted as if he hadn’t heard a thing.

"Mr. Chu, how could I possibly take your money? You came here to dine. Given your relationship with Sixth Master, he’d slap me a few times if I charged you. In the future, if you want to eat here, just contact me in advance. Here’s my contact information."

Hu Biao didn’t dare take the bank card Chu Feng offered. Instead, he handed his own business card to him.

"I couldn’t possibly. This meal wasn’t cheap," Chu Feng said.

"Mr. Chu, please, eat and drink to your heart’s content. When you come here, there’s no need to talk about money," Hu Biao insisted.

"Alright then, I’ll be on my way. But if Sixth Master gives you any trouble, I’m not taking the blame," Chu Feng said.

Chu Feng didn’t understand the relationship between Hu Biao, Sixth Master, and the Beihai Hotel.

Although he felt the meal must have cost a lot, to Zhao Liu, that amount of money was nothing. He could earn it back in a minute.

Besides, as the general manager of the entire Beihai Hotel, Hu Biao naturally had the authority to do such things. Moreover, it was all with Sixth Master’s tacit approval.

If he couldn’t even handle something like this, Hu Biao would never have become the general manager of the Beihai Hotel in the first place.

In other words, anyone who could become the general manager here was a shrewd operator.

"Don’t worry, Mr. Chu. Take care. I’ll see you out," Hu Biao said with a beaming smile as he escorted them.

"Alright, I’m heading out then," Chu Feng said with a wave.

Since the man refused to take his money, he couldn’t just force it on him. Even if he tried, it wasn’t like the man had to accept it.
