My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

Chapter 88: Looking Down on People

"Of course. This is all small stuff. Susu, don’t you agree?" Huang Bin said with a smile.

"That may be so, but I don’t know anything about these orders you’re talking about, and it’s not my decision to make. You’ll have to talk to my husband," Li Susu said happily. "However, since we’re old classmates, I can put in a good word for you."

Huang Bin had been showering her with compliments the entire time, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

"Great! Susu, I knew we could count on you. This is a huge help! Thank you, thank you," Huang Bin said excitedly.

"Waiter, hurry up and bring out the food!" Huang Bin yelled at the waiter.

"Is everyone here now?" Li Susu asked.

"Huang Bin told us eight o’clock, and now it’s almost nine-thirty. I have no idea what he’s playing at," Gao Feng said deliberately.

"Gao Feng, what are you complaining about? Isn’t the free food enough to shut you up? You’re the one who talks the most crap. Can’t you see that not everyone’s here yet?" Huang Bin said, annoyed.

Hearing this, Gao Feng was about to explode with anger.

But Chu Feng held him back.

"Forget it. There’s no need to argue," Chu Feng said, shaking his head.

The moment he finished speaking, Huang Bin spoke up.

"You’re Chu Feng, right? Move. This seat is for Susu. You go sit on the side," Huang Bin said, pointing at Chu Feng.

The seat Chu Feng occupied happened to be the seat of honor. To suck up to Li Susu, Huang Bin naturally had to tell Chu Feng to move.

"Huang Bin, don’t go too far! We’re all classmates. Why can’t Feng sit there?" Gao Feng couldn’t take it anymore and finally erupted.

Huang Bin might want to suck up to Li Susu, but he, Gao Feng, certainly didn’t.

’What kind of reunion is this? It’s just a business meeting and a chance for them to show off.’

"Alright, stop arguing. It’s fine, I can sit here. We’re all classmates, let’s not ruin the mood," Li Susu said, but a hint of anger was already visible on her face.

’She was so used to being put on a pedestal. Everywhere she went, people would fawn over her. She couldn’t believe that at a reunion like this, Chu Feng would be so disrespectful.’

’In her eyes, just by attending this reunion, she was already doing these poor losers a huge favor.’

Seeing the faint anger on Li Susu’s face, Huang Bin’s expression grew even darker. He continued, speaking to Chu Feng, "Chu Feng, get out of the way. This reunion is on me; I’m treating everyone. This spread isn’t cheap—it would cost you several months’ salary. How about that?"

"Huang Bin, what the hell is that supposed to mean?" Gao Feng demanded angrily. "We already agreed that for this class reunion, we’d all split the bill. We’re all adults and former classmates; this dinner is just about reconnecting. Are you implying we can’t afford it? That we need your charity just to eat?"

Chu Feng was also getting fed up. He couldn’t stand Huang Bin’s smug attitude and said directly, "Class reunions are always split. If you’re going to treat everyone, then what’s the point? Why don’t we treat you instead?"

"Exactly," Gao Feng said, annoyed.

"Chu Feng, Gao Feng, if you two want to act tough, don’t drag the rest of us into it," a few classmates chimed in. "This is a lot of money. Who can afford to split this? If this is how it’s going to be, maybe we should just call the whole thing off."

"Chu Feng, Gao Feng, what’s your problem? Are you deliberately starting trouble with me? You two dare to put on a tough act in front of me? Don’t you know your place?" Huang Bin said with a look of pure arrogance. "This meal costs almost three hundred thousand. Can you afford that? You probably couldn’t pay for this even if you ate for free for an entire year."

The guy’s eyes were filled with nothing but contempt.

"You!" Gao Feng was furious when he heard this. At the same time, he was shocked. He never imagined a single meal could be this expensive.

Although he had his own small factory now and was making a bit of money, he would probably only earn this much in a whole year—and that was only if business was good.

If business was even slightly worse, he might even take a loss.

"Chu Feng, let’s go," Gao Feng said to Chu Feng.

"Yeah." Chu Feng nodded. He had long since lost any interest in this meal; there was no point in staying.

"Is all this really necessary? We all went to the same university, after all," Li Susu spoke up at this moment.

"What? Are you saying we’re not even allowed to leave?" Chu Feng asked, glancing at Li Susu.

"Weren’t you two acting so tough just now? Sure, you can leave. If you’re so capable, then pay for the meal. Why the rush? Afraid you won’t have the money for the bill?"

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. I hate to say it, but you don’t even have this kind of money, yet you dare to act so tough? You really are just broke losers."

Li Susu said coolly, her words dripping with contempt.

"Pay for it? Why should I pay for this meal? Even if I had the money, am I obligated to treat you?" Chu Feng said, looking at Li Susu.

’This Li Susu acts all friendly, but in reality, she’s so arrogant her nose is in the air.’

’She completely looked down on him and Gao Feng. The sarcasm in her words was painfully obvious.’

"Oh, so you can’t afford it? Well then, for old times’ sake, let’s just do as you said and split it. It comes out to about fifteen thousand per person. That should be fine, right?" Li Susu continued.

She was already holding a grudge against Chu Feng for not giving up his seat for her earlier. The fact that he and Gao Feng continued to show her no respect made her furious.

That was why she now wanted to humiliate Chu Feng and Gao Feng in front of everyone.

This was the only way to assert her superiority and emphasize the gap between herself and these poor classmates.

"Why the hell should we pay? We haven’t eaten anything! Let’s go!" Chu Feng called to Gao Feng, and they walked toward the door, ignoring the others gossiping behind them.

’It wasn’t that Chu Feng was short on cash, but that didn’t mean he was willing to spend it on these people.’

’He had money, so why did he need to prove it to them? Was he insane?’

After stepping out of the private room, Chu Feng flagged down a passing waiter. "Excuse me, could you please get me a private room?"

Chu Feng was seething with anger. The only reason he had even come to this reunion was for Gao Feng. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have bothered showing up at all.

"I’ll have to check on that. Please wait a moment, sir." The waiter hurried away.

"Huh? Get another private room? Feng, have you actually gone crazy? The minimum charge for a room here must be tens of thousands!" Gao Feng exclaimed, startled.

"We haven’t seen each other in five years; we deserve to have a few proper drinks. Don’t worry about the money," Chu Feng said with a smile. "My wife is a Beihai local. Do you think we’re short on cash?"

"Holy shit!" Gao Feng blurted out.

’Damn, that’s something to be jealous of. It really is a good life, living off your wife.’

"Are you Mr. Chu?" Suddenly, a voice sounded from behind Chu Feng.
