My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

Chapter 81: Your Days Are Numbered

Zhao Su had only wanted to treat Chu Feng to a nice meal out of kindness, but she never expected it to turn into such a mess.

Chu Feng, however, didn’t blame Zhao Su. He just waved it off. "It’s fine. This isn’t your fault. Let’s eat."

He knew none of this was Zhao Su’s doing; it was just a matter of unfortunate coincidence.

Before long, the waiter started bringing out the food.

It was a spread of Zhongnan City’s specialty dishes, each one prepared with perfect authenticity.

Chu Feng’s mouth watered the moment he saw the dishes. He picked up his chopsticks, snagged a piece of cured meat, and took a bite.

"Mm, this cured meat is delicious. It tastes just like my childhood!" Chu Feng said with delight. He was clearly enjoying it.

Seeing how much Chu Feng was enjoying it, Zhao Su’s anxiety began to fade, and she started to relax.

"Go on, eat up. You should have some while it’s hot," Chu Feng said, not forgetting to urge Zhao Su to join him as he ate.

"Waiter, could I get some rice?" Chu Feng called out.

The rice arrived a moment later.

Chu Feng dug in without hesitation. It had been so long since he’d had such delicious food from his hometown—the taste of home.

He cast aside all pretense of decorum and simply feasted.

Zhao Su observed that Chu Feng had no airs about him at all. He ate just like a normal person, unlike some wealthy bosses who deliberately put on a show.

At this, another layer of tension left Zhao Su, and she finally began to eat as well.

The table was laden with food—at least a dozen dishes. It was an incredibly rich spread.

It was far more than two people could normally finish.

But for Chu Feng, this amount of food was nothing.

In just over ten minutes, Chu Feng had polished off nearly everything on the table.

His astonishing appetite left Zhao Su, who was sitting beside him, completely stunned.

She found herself gulping, a little intimidated.

Only after Chu Feng had eaten his fill and was leaning back in his chair with a look of pure satisfaction did Zhao Su venture to ask, "President Chu, were you very hungry?"

Zhao Su hadn’t wanted to ask, but she just couldn’t resist.

"Yes, I was quite hungry. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a meal this good. If you hadn’t brought me here today, President Zhao, who knows when I would’ve had the chance to eat such delicious hometown cooking," Chu Feng said with a smile.

He seemed completely affable.

Zhao Su felt no pressure at all in his company.

"I’m just glad you enjoyed it, President Chu," Zhao Su replied with a smile.

Just then, the door to their private room was kicked open.

BANG!

The loud crash made both Chu Feng and Zhao Su whip their heads toward the entrance.

The young man who had confronted them earlier stood at the forefront, backed by more than a dozen thugs.

Every one of them was armed with knives or clubs, their faces twisted into vicious scowls. They clearly weren’t to be trifled with.

"You punk, you’re still here? Get your ass over here!" the young man roared, pointing a club as thick as his wrist at Chu Feng.

His left hand cupped his right cheek, which was already swollen high from the slap Chu Feng had given him earlier.

He was clearly here for revenge.

Seeing so many armed men suddenly burst in, Zhao Su was terrified.

But with Chu Feng there, she knew she couldn’t show her fear.

Besides, the memory of how Chu Feng had handled himself in Principal Li’s office at Zhongnan Vocational College instantly put her more at ease.

"You’re a Chen too. Is Chen Hu your older brother?" Chu Feng asked unhurriedly, looking completely composed.

Even facing a dozen armed thugs, he showed no fear.

"Fuck! A little piece of shit like you dares to say my brother’s name? If I don’t break your legs today, then I’m not Chen Bao!" the young man raged, his fury boiling over.

"Get him! Fucking kill this guy for me!" Chen Bao yelled.

Instantly, the dozen or so thugs let out a battle cry and charged at Chu Feng with their weapons raised.

The waiter at the door, his face pale with fright, scrambled out of the room.

Chu Feng grabbed a nearby stool and smashed it over the head of the first man to reach him.

CRACK!

The stool shattered on impact. The man’s skull cracked open, and he collapsed to the floor, a pool of blood spreading around him.

The men behind him froze for an instant before surging forward with even greater ferocity, swinging their weapons.

THUD!

THUD!

A series of dull thuds followed.

A single kick from Chu Feng sent several men flying. A palm strike from him knocked down an entire cluster of them.

These so-called thugs could only bully ordinary people by relying on their numbers.

But now they were facing Chu Feng, a Cultivator at the Peak of the Qi Cultivation Realm. Ordinary men were no match for him.

The fight began as quickly as it ended.

It was over in ten seconds, max.

Chen Bao stood frozen, utterly stunned by the scene. A deep-seated terror was visible in his eyes.

"Y-You... stay away! I’m from the Chen Family! If you touch me, you won’t live to see tomorrow’s sun!" Chen Bao threatened, his face a mask of terror.

But even as he issued his threats, he stumbled backward, his legs barely obeying his commands.

"Threatening me?" Chu Feng sneered. "The last person who tried that was your brother. He’s probably cold by now, isn’t he?"

"What? You killed my brother?" Chen Bao’s eyes went wide.

Chu Feng smiled. "I didn’t kill him. He dug his own grave. Heaven simply came to collect."

He walked slowly toward Chen Bao and, at the same time, detonated the Sin Value above the young man’s head.

Chen Bao’s Sin Value was even greater than Chen Hu’s, reaching a staggering -36,000!

’It’s an outrageous number.’

’It’s hard to imagine what monstrous sins this guy must have committed.’

"Stay back! I’m telling you, you’re dead! My dad won’t let you get away with this!" Chen Bao shrieked, his face filled with fear even as he continued to bluster.

"Don’t worry, I won’t lay a hand on you," Chu Feng said calmly. "You won’t live past tonight anyway. You should hurry home and see your parents. Any later and you’ll miss your chance."

"Let’s go," Chu Feng said to Zhao Su after finishing his words.

Zhao Su was still in a state of shock and didn’t react at first.

"Ah? Oh, right!" Zhao Su scrambled to her feet and followed Chu Feng out of the room.

They left Chen Bao behind with the thugs groaning and wailing on the floor.

After a long moment, Chen Bao finally snapped out of it, fumbling for his phone with trembling hands to make a call.

"Hey, Dad! I know who killed my brother!" Chen Bao said frantically.

After leaving Zhongnan Restaurant, Chu Feng got into Zhao Su’s car.

"President Chu, the Chen Family..." Zhao Su began, wanting to warn him about how powerful the Chen Family was in Zhongnan City.

For Chu Feng to have gone after two of the family’s young masters in a row would surely incur the Chen Family’s wrath.
