Chapter 76: Merit Saves a Life Again
"President Chu, we’ve gotten a general understanding of the situation. The school is reporting that your brother accidentally lost his footing and fell from the fourth floor," Zhao Su said to Chu Feng in the car.
"Lost his footing?" Chu Feng glanced at Zhao Su, the rage in his eyes intense enough to swallow a person whole.
Zhao Su was thoroughly frightened by Chu Feng’s gaze and secretly gulped.
"Th-that’s what the school said. We don’t know the details either. We came to pick you up, President Chu, as soon as we got the news," Zhao Su said.
Chu Feng retracted his gaze and said coldly, "Hn. Got it. Drive faster."
He absolutely refused to believe his brother would have accidentally fallen from a building.
His brother had a fear of heights. He would never have gone near the edge of a corridor or a railing.
’Something is definitely wrong here.’
In fact, Chu Feng immediately recalled that before the New Year, when he had gone to pick up his brother from school, he had found him being bullied by a few thugs.
One of them, a guy named Chen Long, had a Sin Value of -1700. Chu Feng had detonated it without a second thought.
’But that guy should already be dead.’
It was most likely Chen Long’s family. In any case, this couldn’t end well. Chu Feng was utterly enraged.
A short while later, the car stopped at Zhongnan City First Hospital.
"What floor?" Chu Feng asked.
"The ICU on the sixth floor," Zhao Su said, hurrying to keep up with Chu Feng.
Soon, the three of them took the elevator to the sixth floor.
"Who are you looking for?" a nurse asked, stopping Chu Feng as he was about to enter Chu Hao’s room.
"I’m looking for Chu Hao. I’m his older brother!" Chu Feng said, his face cold.
"You’re his brother? Perfect. There’s a critical condition notice that needs your signature," the nurse said to Chu Feng.
Hearing this, Chu Feng couldn’t be bothered with formalities and charged directly into the hospital room.
Inside, several doctors and nurses were trying to save Chu Hao.
Chu Feng’s sudden intrusion startled all of them.
"Who are you? Who let you in?" the doctor demanded, turning to glare at Chu Feng with a frown.
"I’m his brother! All of you, get out!" Chu Feng roared.
Zhao Su was stunned to see Chu Feng charge in and then demand that the doctors leave.
"President Chu, they’re trying to save him. We should..." Before Zhao Su could finish, Chu Feng cut her off.
"You get out with them!" Chu Feng was furious.
The doctor and nurses were dumbfounded. Only after Zhao Su explained did the doctor understand the situation.
Still, he couldn’t comprehend Chu Feng’s actions. "If you do this, your brother won’t last much longer," he said.
Although the hospital staff had seen all sorts of people over the years, a situation like this was rare.
"I’ll take full responsibility! Now all of you, get out!" Chu Feng said.
"Fine, then we’ll go." The doctors and nurses didn’t waste any more time and walked straight out.
"Don’t let anyone in," Chu Feng told Zhao Su.
Though Zhao Su didn’t understand, she nodded and stood guard at the door.
Once everyone was out, Chu Feng walked over to his brother’s side, his expression grave.
Chu Hao was unconscious, covered in obvious bloodstains. There were even bruises visible from a beating.
Seeing this, the rage in Chu Feng’s heart instantly surged.
"Damn it!" he seethed, grinding his teeth in anger.
It was just as he had guessed. His brother had been bullied. The fall being an "accident" was definitely an excuse; he was likely pushed.
’Thankfully, I still have some Merit Points left.’ Chu Feng breathed a small sigh of relief.
He was fortunate not to have used up all the Merit Points he’d gotten from Tang Mu, having saved a little just in case.
Chu Feng transferred his remaining 1,200 Merit Points to his brother and then converted them into Blessings and Prosperity.
This would allow his brother to safely overcome this crisis.
"Hao Zi, don’t worry. Your big brother will hunt down every single bastard who bullied you! None of them will escape!" Chu Feng vowed through clenched teeth, his hatred soaring.
After calming himself, he opened the door and said to Zhao Su, "Go get the doctor."
Hearing this, Zhao Su’s heart sank. She peeked into the room.
She assumed from Chu Feng’s words that his brother had already passed away and that he was calling the doctor to declare the time of death.
"Oh, okay." After a brief moment of shock, Zhao Su immediately went to get the doctor.
The attending physician walked over. Although he wore a mask, his anger was still visible.
As he approached Chu Feng, he said, "He still had a chance. Now... sigh..."
He sighed helplessly at the loss of such a vibrant young life.
But when he entered the room and saw Chu Hao on the bed, along with the readings on the monitor beside it, he was completely dumbstruck.
"Th-this is impossible!" the attending physician exclaimed in disbelief.
The nurses behind him also wore expressions of utter shock.
It was as if they had seen a ghost.
Before they left, the patient had clearly been in critical condition, on the verge of death at any moment.
But now, ten minutes later, not only was he not dead, but he had also passed the critical stage?
Though the attending physician was astonished, he didn’t overthink it and immediately began administering other treatments to Chu Hao.
About half an hour later, the attending physician came out.
"He’s out of danger. He suffered a severe blow to the head, so he’ll probably need some time to recuperate before he wakes up. We can’t rule out the possibility of memory loss."
Chu Feng heard this, nodded, and said, "Thank you for your trouble."
He wasn’t too concerned about the doctor’s words.
Chu Feng knew that with the Merit and Blessings and Prosperity he had transferred, his brother absolutely would not remain in a coma or suffer from memory loss.
He just needed some time to recover.
Zhao Su looked at Chu Feng, suddenly finding him incredibly mysterious.
’What did he do in that room to bring a critically ill patient back from the brink of death?’
"Arrange for someone to watch over my brother twenty-four-seven. I don’t want anything else to happen to him!" Chu Feng said to Zhao Su.
"Yes, President Chu." Zhao Su nodded.
Su Miaoke had previously told her that Chu Feng was her husband. Not long ago, they had also spoken on the phone, and Su Miaoke had insisted that all of Chu Feng’s requests must be met.
Zhao Su immediately called a security company and hired four guards to stand watch in shifts.
Only then did Chu Feng leave the hospital, his mind at ease.
"Go to Zhongnan Vocational College," Chu Feng said.
"Understood." Zhao Su followed behind Chu Feng.
Soon, the Maybach drove onto the campus of Zhongnan City Vocational College.
"President Chu, we’ve already contacted your brother’s head teacher. He’s in his office," Zhao Su said.
