Chapter 66: Crisis
He slightly opened his right palm, moving it slowly back and to the right.
This had to be accompanied by a specific breathing pattern to channel the Spiritual Qi within his body.
He stepped forward with his left foot and leaned his upper body back slightly, the Spiritual Power within him surging with the motion.
Chu Feng instantly felt the Spiritual Qi in his body gather in his right arm in response to these movements.
"Hah!"
Then, he fiercely thrust a palm forward.
WHOOSH!
As the palm strike shot out, the air whistled as if a gale had been whipped up.
Faintly, Chu Feng could even see the force of his palm seemingly condense into a shadowy hand, kicking up countless fallen leaves wherever it passed.
"It’s working!" Chu Feng was astonished.
He hadn’t expected to unleash such power so soon into his practice.
The main reason, of course, was that Chu Feng possessed the God of Wealth’s Qi Cultivation Technique. He already had a certain level of strength and had long since reached the Qi Cultivation Realm.
He just didn’t know how to channel and unleash his Spiritual Power.
The Taiqing Palm Skill happened to fill that gap, which was why Chu Feng could grasp its essentials right away.
When Su Miaoke saw Chu Feng get the hang of it so quickly, and with such impressive results, she grew even more excited.
"Honey, go practice a little farther away. You’re making too much of a racket, and I can’t quiet my mind," Su Miaoke said to Chu Feng.
With a helpless sigh, Chu Feng walked a little farther away.
Su Miaoke’s practice of the Taiqing True Scripture required absolute silence. Only by entering a state of mental tranquility could she achieve the necessary mindset for Cultivation.
The two of them stayed in the park for several hours, until Chu Feng’s mother called to tell them to come home for breakfast.
"Miaoke, any luck?" Chu Feng asked, walking over to her.
Su Miaoke shook her head. "It’s hard to get the Qi Sensing it describes. But following the Cultivation method does make me feel more energized. I guess it’ll just take some more time."
"Don’t worry, just take it slow," Chu Feng said comfortingly. "This isn’t something you can master overnight. Many people from Martial Arts Clans train for over a decade."
The two then returned to the villa. After breakfast, they left for work together.
Before they left, Su Miaoke gave Chu Feng’s parents several tens of thousands of yuan so they could enjoy themselves in Beihai.
"Oh, Miaoke, why are you giving us so much money? We have our own," Chu Feng’s mother said, quickly trying to refuse the large sum.
"Mom, Chu Feng and I have to go to work, so we don’t have time to spend with you. It’ll cost money for you and Dad to explore Beihai. But don’t worry, I have plenty more if you need it. Just go have fun and see the sights," Su Miaoke said.
"We don’t need the money. We won’t be spending much anyway, just walking around and looking at the sights," Chu Yuntian said.
"Oh, come on, Dad, don’t be like that. Miaoke’s money is my money, so just take it. There’s some money on this card, too. Use as much as you want. The one thing Miaoke and I aren’t short on is money!" Chu Feng said, handing his father a bank card.
"I already told you we don’t need it. We have some money with us. Besides, at our age, what is there to spend it on?" Chu Yuntian tried to refuse again.
But Chu Feng firmly pushed the card into his hand.
"Dad, the Beihai of today isn’t the Beihai of twenty-some years ago. Things are expensive here. Just take it. It’s time for you and Mom to enjoy yourselves," Chu Feng said.
"Alright, alright, I’ll take it." Seeing he had no other choice, Chu Yuntian reluctantly accepted Chu Feng’s card.
He figured if he didn’t, they’d be at this all day.
"Oh, right, Dad, here are the keys. The cars are in the garage. If you want to drive, feel free," Su Miaoke said, taking several sets of keys from a nearby drawer and placing them before Chu Yuntian.
"But I haven’t driven in so many years. I’m afraid I’m a little rusty," Chu Yuntian said, though his eyes lit up as he looked at the keys.
"Don’t worry about it. Just drive slowly. And don’t worry about crashing. If you crash it, we’ll just buy a new one. I’ve been wanting to get a new car anyway," Su Miaoke said with extravagant flair.
With that, the two of them headed to the garage, got in a car, and drove off.
Seeing how thoughtful Su Miaoke was, Chu Feng couldn’t help but remark, "Marrying you... I must have been blessed with good fortune from three lifetimes."
"Pfft. You’re my husband. What’s money between us? Besides, you saved my dad, and then you saved my little brother. If anything, I owe you two lives... no, three!" Su Miaoke said.
"Three?" Chu Feng asked, confused.
"Oh, stop asking so many questions and just drive," Su Miaoke said.
Life returned to its usual rhythm for the two of them.
Su Miaoke handled company business, and Chu Feng sat in the guardhouse, watching the main gate.
Whenever he got bored, Chu Feng would go sit in Su Miaoke’s office for a while.
As he passed by various departments, many employees would greet him.
"Hello, President Chu," an employee greeted him politely.
"Hey, don’t call me President Chu. I’m just the guy watching the gate. Chu Feng is fine," he said amicably.
"You’re so down-to-earth, President Chu. Missing our President Su already?" the employee teased.
"Of course. With a wife this beautiful, I have to keep an eye on her at all times. Wouldn’t want someone to snatch her away," Chu Feng said with a laugh.
His words made several employees snicker.
In truth, Chu Feng was simply worried about Su Miaoke’s safety. After all, those people from the Tang Family weren’t the type to let things go so easily.
That’s why, whenever things were quiet, Chu Feng would go and sit in Su Miaoke’s office. It put his mind at ease.
"President Chu, why don’t you just have President Su transfer you to our department? That way you’d be closer to her and could see her anytime," the employee added with a smile.
"Oh, come on, how could working here be as comfortable as being a security guard? Watching the gate is the best job. It lets you bypass thirty years of struggle!" Chu Feng joked.
After some lighthearted banter, Chu Feng arrived at Su Miaoke’s office.
As he entered, Su Miaoke looked up and gave him a playful shake of her head.
"What’s up, honey?" Su Miaoke asked.
"Nothing. Just came to see you," Chu Feng said.
"Well, have a seat for a bit. I need to take care of a few things," Su Miaoke said with a smile.
"Don’t mind me. You do your thing. I’ll just lie down for a bit." With that, Chu Feng sprawled out on the sofa and closed his eyes to rest.
In reality, Chu Feng didn’t tell Su Miaoke that he had come to her side because a sudden sense of unease had washed over him, a feeling that something bad was about to happen.
He was worried that something might happen to Su Miaoke.
Five minutes later, there was a sudden knock on the door.
"Come in!" Su Miaoke said without looking up.
A secretary in a business suit entered and said to Su Miaoke, "President Su, there’s someone here to see you. They say they’re a friend of yours."
