Chapter 56: Taunt
Chu Feng and his family all turned toward the sharp, surprised voice.
Standing before them were a few people, one of whom was very familiar to Chu Feng.
It was his ex-girlfriend, Xiao Xiaoya.
"Xiao Ya?" Chu Feng’s parents were stunned to see her.
Chu Feng’s brow furrowed, his expression souring as he looked at her.
’To think I’d run into someone so disgusting just trying to have a meal.’
Su Miaoke’s lovely eyes narrowed as anger began to flash within them.
This woman had been at her best friend’s party. She’d claimed to be Chu Feng’s classmate and that he had once pursued her.
But now, it was clear their relationship was far from ordinary.
After all, even Chu Feng’s parents recognized her.
"What are you doing here?" Xiao Xiaoya asked, her expression baffled, though a deep-seated disdain flashed in her eyes.
"And why shouldn’t I be?" Chu Feng immediately shot back.
Although Chu Feng’s parents didn’t know why the two had broken up, they could tell from the tense exchange that things were hostile between them.
Just then, Chu Feng’s mother stepped forward. "Xiao Ya, you’re here to eat too? And this is...?"
Standing beside Xiao Xiaoya was a young man. He wore glasses, but he didn’t look the least bit scholarly. In fact, his face was a mask of pure arrogance.
"Xiao Ya, how do you know so many country bumpkins?" the young man sneered.
"Tch, who wants to know them? I can’t believe we’d run into them in a place like this. What rotten luck," Xiao Xiaoya said, her face twisting in disgust as she scowled.
With that, Xiao Xiaoya grabbed the young man to leave. The bespectacled man wrapped an arm around her waist and gave it a firm squeeze.
The bespectacled man sneered again. "This Beihai Restaurant is really going downhill. They’ll let any old hick in these days. *Sigh*."
The behavior of Xiao Xiaoya and the man in glasses instantly mortified Chu Feng’s mother, and her expression soured.
Rage flared in Chu Yuntian’s eyes.
Chu Feng had never told them how he and Xiao Xiaoya broke up, but he had strongly opposed their relationship from the start. He’d always felt that Xiao Xiaoya was no good.
’Looks like she kicked Chu Feng to the curb for some rich guy.’
"Have young women these days forgotten the meaning of self-respect?" Chu Yuntian said coldly.
His words were clearly aimed at Xiao Xiaoya.
Hearing this, Xiao Xiaoya’s expression changed instantly. She stopped in her tracks and whipped her head around. "What did you say, old man?"
The man in glasses flew into a rage. He pointed a finger at Chu Feng’s father and roared, "Old man, say that again, I dare you! Believe it or not, I’ll fucking kill you! A bunch of hicks like you dare to act tough in a place like this? Can you even afford to be here?"
Seeing this guy dare to speak to his father that way, Chu Feng’s temper flared. "Apologize to my father! Now!"
Su Miaoke’s expression was just as dark. ’I can’t believe this is happening while we’re just trying to get dinner.’
"Hahaha! Apologize?" The man with glasses let out a wild laugh. "Who the hell do you think you are? I should apologize just because you say so? Believe it or not, I can have someone throw all of you out right now!"
"Hah! Chu Feng, don’t think you’re hot stuff just because you found a rich girlfriend," Xiao Xiaoya sneered, her chin held high as if she were royalty. "Do you have any idea who my boyfriend is? He’s the young master of the Beihai Wang Family! You’ve heard of them, right? They control all the shipping in Beihai and have assets over a hundred million!"
"You bunch of hicks dare to act so presumptuously in front of my boyfriend? Get on your knees and beg him for forgiveness right now! If you do, maybe I’ll ask him to spare you. Otherwise, you can forget about ever making it in Beihai!" Xiao Xiaoya said viciously.
"Xiao Feng, just let it go. Let’s leave and find another place," Chu Feng’s mother said, her face etched with worry. She didn’t want her son to get into a fight.
She was also terrified of Su Miaoke finding out about Chu Feng’s history with Xiao Xiaoya, and feared that a bigger scene would expose everything.
"Do you believe me when I say your boyfriend won’t live to see tomorrow?" Chu Feng said, his face like ice.
’If his parents weren’t here, he would have already walked over and slapped that damn bitch.’
"Kid, are you looking for a death wish?" Xiao Xiaoya’s boyfriend snarled. "This young master doesn’t have time for you today, so scram! If you make me late for entertaining the young masters of the Zhao Family, you’re all dead!"
Su Miaoke couldn’t take it anymore and was about to step forward to argue with the man, but Chu Feng held her back.
"The Zhao Family? Zhao Quan?" Chu Feng’s expression was one of surprise when he heard the name.
"What? You know the young master of the Zhao Family?" Seeing Chu Feng’s expression, Xiao Xiaoya’s boyfriend broke into a triumphant grin. "Scared now, are we? If you know what’s good for you, get the hell out of my sight. Otherwise, I’ll make you regret it!"
He assumed Chu Feng was intimidated by the mention of Zhao Quan’s name.
He had no idea that Zhao Quan himself would have to address Chu Feng as ’Brother Chu’.
"Go get them for me," Chu Feng said.
"What? Kid, are you out of your mind?" her boyfriend scoffed. "’Go get them?’ Who the hell do you think you are? You think the young masters of the Zhao Family are people a hick like you can meet just because you feel like it?" He burst out laughing before unleashing a tirade at Chu Feng.
Chu Feng said nothing, simply pulling out his phone.
The call connected quickly.
"Zhao Quan, are you at the Beihai Restaurant?" Chu Feng asked.
The moment Zhao Quan heard Chu Feng’s voice on the other end, he grew excited. "Brother Chu! Yeah, I’m at the Beihai Restaurant. What’s up? Are you here too?"
"Yeah. Is there a guy with the last name Wang who’s supposed to be treating you to dinner?" Chu Feng asked.
"That’s right. He’s one of Zhao Liu’s guys. He said he’d set something up for us, and since we had nothing better to do, we came over for a meal," Zhao Quan said.
"Well, he’s here with me. Come on over. Second-floor hallway," Chu Feng said.
"Okay, Brother Chu. Did that punk cause trouble for you?" Zhao Qian asked.
But Chu Feng didn’t answer, simply hanging up the phone.
Across from them, Xiao Xiaoya and her boyfriend watched Chu Feng make the call.
The pair stared blankly for a second before bursting into laughter. Xiao Xiaoya’s boyfriend was laughing so hard that tears started welling up in his eyes.
"Hahahaha! I’m dying! Xiao Ya, this hick you used to know isn’t just a hick, he’s the king of posers! What an act! ’Hello? Is that Zhao Quan? This is Chu Feng!’ Why didn’t you just say you were Zhao Liu himself!"
The man continued to mimic Chu Feng’s phone call, looking incredibly smug.
