My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

Chapter 45: Northern Zhao Family

Chu Feng was also well aware of his parents’ personalities.

But Chu Feng wasn’t afraid. He wasn’t just some ordinary person—he was the bearer of the Immortal Dao Inheritance.

For punishing Tang Lin, who was known to all as Young Master Tang, Chu Feng had gained another eight hundred Merit Points.

This would be a tremendous boon for his Cultivation. By converting Merit into the Spiritual Qi he needed, his power was bound to advance by leaps and bounds.

After returning to the villa with Su Miaoke, Chu Feng sat on the sofa and began to cultivate.

Su Miaoke was fast asleep in bed. Although Chu Feng had neutralized the poison, her body was still quite weak.

Meanwhile, news that Chu Feng had killed Tang Lin spread quickly.

The Tang Family received the news immediately and were utterly enraged.

The Qing Gang, the organization backing the Tang Family, immediately mobilized all their contacts to investigate Chu Feng’s background.

The Tang Family was a prominent family in the Southern Border, after all. For a member of their clan to be killed was no small matter.

However, the results of the investigation stunned both the Tang Family and their backers, the Qing Gang.

It turned out Chu Feng had no significant background or connections to speak of. Just over a month ago, he was merely a salesman at a real estate company.

Yet somehow, he had gotten involved with Su Miaoke of the Su Family, and the two had even legally married.

A low-level salesman and the female president of a publicly traded corporation—the two were worlds apart.

"Are the results of Tang Lin’s examination in yet?" the current Patriarch of the Tang Family asked from the inner hall of a luxurious villa.

"Patriarch, here is the report," the butler said, handing over a file.

"The report indicates the Young Master died of natural causes. There were no internal or external injuries, nor was he poisoned. The methods are... rather bizarre."

"Have you asked the Chu Family in Xixiang if they have a Chu Feng in their clan?"

"We’ve investigated. The Chu Family has no such person."

"How is that possible!" The Tang Family Patriarch’s face darkened.

A young man with no backing can just kill a living, breathing person in public, without a sound? It’s so absurd nobody would believe it.

The crucial point was that Tang Lin was no ordinary man.

He had studied the Martial Dao since childhood, reaching the Body Tempering Realm, and was also skilled in the Witchcraft Poison Technique. An ordinary person couldn’t even get near him.

"Patriarch, what should we do now? Should we send men to capture that brat?"

"No! Let’s put this matter on the back burner for now. Our target is Zhao Liu! So what if he has the Zhao Family’s support? I’ll make him understand the power of our Tang Family!"

"Patriarch, according to reliable sources, members of the Zhao Family are heading to Beihai. Judging by the timing, they should be arriving soon. Should we make preparations?"

"Summon Chuxia. Have her take a team to Beihai. Her main task is to probe the Zhao Family’s true strength. Beihai is a prize for the taking, and I, the Tang Family, will have it!" the Tang Family Patriarch declared, his face a mask of ferocity.

After returning, Chu Feng cultivated straight through until the next morning. He had converted a significant amount of his Merit Points, and his power had increased considerably.

Just then, Chu Feng received a call from his father-in-law.

"Son-in-law! Are you awake?" Su Linsheng’s voice crackled over the phone.

"I just woke up. Dad, what’s wrong? Is everything okay?" Chu Feng was a little confused. ’Why would my father-in-law be calling me this early?’

"I’ll be downstairs in three minutes. Get down here, quick." With that, Su Linsheng hung up.

Chu Feng went downstairs, completely bewildered. After a short wait, Su Linsheng pulled up in his car.

"Get in!" Su Linsheng beckoned.

Though confused, Chu Feng got in the car.

The moment he got in, Su Linsheng slammed on the accelerator, peeling away from the Bright Moon Mountain Villa.

"Dad, what’s with the rush? Where are you taking me?" Chu Feng asked, baffled.

"We’re going to pick someone up," Su Linsheng said.

"Pick someone up?"

"That’s right. The people we’re picking up are from the Northern Zhao Family. You absolutely have to take good care of them today. This is crucial for the company’s future development!" Su Linsheng said excitedly.

"Huh? Isn’t it a bit inappropriate for me to go? I don’t get along with people from those big families," Chu Feng immediately protested.

The mention of a great family made him think of that guy, Tang Lin. ’If the Zhao Family people are also the arrogant, high-and-mighty type, I’m not about to play butler for them.’

"Oh, what are you worried about? They’re young people, about your age. Just take them to try some of Beihai’s famous food, show them the fun spots—just do whatever you need to keep them happy."

"Here, take this card. And the car keys, too. You have to find a way to make sure they’re looked after perfectly."

"Dad, are you sure that’s all it takes?"

"Of course! The guests from the Zhao Family know Sixth Master. I’ve started collaborating with him, so we’ll be able to use his shipping channels to expand overseas," Su Linsheng said happily.

The reason Su Linsheng was so happy was that Sixth Master controlled international shipping lanes. If they could cooperate, the Su Group’s products would have a chance to enter the overseas market. It was like latching onto a cash cow.

"I guess I can entertain them, but I can’t guarantee there won’t be any issues," Chu Feng said. "But I am curious. Logically, shouldn’t Sixth Master be the one to greet them himself? Why did he ask you, Dad, and then you asked me?"

"You’ve misunderstood," Su Linsheng said. "Sixth Master specifically requested you. He said you young people would have more to talk about. We’re the older generation; the generation gap is too wide."

"But what about Miaoke? If I’m busy with this, I can’t protect her," Chu Feng asked.

"Don’t worry, I’ll handle things with Miaoke. You just focus on this. Besides, these young people from the Zhao Family probably won’t stay for more than a few days," Su Linsheng said.

Half an hour later, Su Linsheng’s car pulled up to the airport.

"Another twenty minutes," Su Linsheng said, glancing at his watch.

Twenty minutes passed in a flash.

A group of stylishly dressed young people emerged, a few of them pulling luggage.

"Miss Zhao, over here!" Su Linsheng called out, waving his hand.

The group of young people walked over to Chu Feng and Su Linsheng.

Leading them was a young woman. She was impeccably dressed and stood about 1.7 meters tall. The high heels she wore made her seem even more statuesque.

"Were you sent by Sixth Master?" Miss Zhao asked.

"That’s right. We were sent by Sixth Master," Su Linsheng confirmed with a nod.

"This is Miss Zhao Qinghan of the Northern Zhao Family."

"Miss Zhao, this is my son-in-law, Chu Feng."

Su Linsheng made the introductions. He had already gotten a file on Zhao Qinghan from Zhao Liu, so he was well-informed.
