Chapter 43: The Southern Border Tang Family
"Oh? Since when do you have such a beautiful best friend? And you didn’t even introduce me." Young Master Tang’s eyes were completely fixed on Su Miaoke.
"Young Master Tang, listen to yourself. Aren’t I introducing you two right now? But my friend is already married, so you should just give up on that idea," Lin Junke said teasingly.
"Marrying a stunning beauty like Miss Su... It’s enough to make anyone green with envy. His ancestors must have done some seriously good deeds. What luck," Young Master Tang said with a smile, but his words seemed to carry a hidden meaning.
Despite his words, his eyes remained fixed on Su Miaoke.
Su Miaoke felt a little uncomfortable. The man’s gaze was filled with aggression.
Hearing this, Chu Feng, who had been eating off to the side, felt a flare of anger and walked straight over to Young Master Tang.
"Young Master Tang is absolutely right. Marrying Miaoke means my ancestors must have done some good deeds. I’m a very lucky man," Chu Feng said.
"So you’re Miss Su’s husband?" Young Master Tang asked.
"That’s right. I’m Miaoke’s husband." Chu Feng stepped in front of Su Miaoke, blocking Young Master Tang’s line of sight.
Young Master Tang glanced at Chu Feng. "And your name is?"
"Chu Feng."
"Oh? You don’t mean the Chu Family from Xixiang, do you?" Young Master Tang asked, a little surprised.
"Hah! Him? He’s just a country bumpkin. How could he possibly be from the Chu Family of Xixiang?" Xiao Xiaoya, who was standing nearby, sneered when she heard this.
After all, Xiao Xiaoya had dated Chu Feng for several years, so she knew his background inside and out. She knew his family wasn’t well-off; he was just a hick from some poor, remote village.
"Oh? What’s this all about?" Young Master Tang turned his head and glanced at Xiao Xiaoya.
When Xiao Xiaoya saw Young Master Tang’s gaze suddenly fall upon her, she was instantly gripped by fear. She realized she had spoken out of turn.
This Young Master Tang was a big deal. Even Young Master Liu had to be respectful in his presence, and Lin Junke had to suck up to him.
If it weren’t for her boyfriend, she never would have had the chance to attend a party like this in the first place.
"Speak," Young Master Tang said, giving Xiao Xiaoya a hard look.
The look in his eyes terrified her.
"Young Master Tang, he... he’s a former classmate of mine. His parents are just farmers from the countryside, living in some poor mountain village. He’s just a salesman at a real estate company, making 3,500 yuan a month. I can’t believe a poor bastard like him managed to get in here." Xiao Xiaoya pointed at Chu Feng, her eyes filled with disgust.
Chu Feng’s eyes narrowed as anger began to surface. ’This bitch has gone too far.’
Hearing this, Su Miaoke’s expression immediately darkened.
Xiao Xiaoya had just insulted her husband in front of all these people. Anyone in her position would have been unable to contain their anger.
So, Su Miaoke stepped forward and pointed at Xiao Xiaoya. "What business is it of yours? Do you pay his salary? If my husband wanted it, I could pay him a hundred million, and it would still be none of your business. You got a problem with that?"
Seeing that a fight was about to break out, Lin Junke immediately stepped in. "Alright, alright, I invited everyone here for a party, not a shouting match. We’re all friends here. Let’s just keep things civil."
"Young Master Tang, let’s go inside and talk," Lin Junke said to him.
But Xiao Xiaoya wasn’t finished.
"What? I’m not wrong. This guy used to chase after me, you know. A toad trying to eat swan meat!" Xiao Xiaoya said with a sneer.
Her words made Chu Feng so angry he wanted to walk right up and slap her.
Lin Junke’s expression darkened as well. She glared at Xiao Xiaoya and said, "I’m the one hosting this party. Are you deliberately trying to cause a scene? If you are, then please get out!"
However, just as Lin Junke finished speaking, Young Master Tang let out a cold laugh.
"She doesn’t seem to be wrong, though. Junke, can just anyone come to your parties? Does this mean you think I’m on the same level as them?" Young Master Tang said coolly.
His eyes were full of provocation, and his gaze was still locked on Su Miaoke.
He had set his sights on Su Miaoke the moment he walked in. Any woman he wanted, he was determined to have.
"Oh, Young Master Tang, listen to you. Who could possibly compare to you? He’s my best friend’s husband, so let’s just let this go. Do me this favor, Young Master Tang," Lin Junke said with a smile.
"And who’s going to do me any favors? I came to Beihai to take over all of Hu Long’s business. What, Lin Junke? Is this how you welcome me?" Young Master Tang said coldly.
Even as he spoke, his lecherous eyes remained fixed on Su Miaoke.
Young Master Tang’s stare made Su Miaoke’s skin crawl. She said to him, "Young Master Tang, since this party doesn’t welcome my husband, we’ll leave right now."
With that, Su Miaoke grabbed Chu Feng’s hand to leave.
At the same time, she said to Lin Junke, "Junke, we’re leaving."
Chu Feng hadn’t wanted to stay for a while now. ’They’re all just a bunch of scumbags. They ridiculed me for no reason at all.’
’So this is what it means to be rich? Their character doesn’t seem so great.’
Just as Su Miaoke and Chu Feng were about to leave, Young Master Tang spoke again. "Did I say you could go?"
His voice was frigid, a kind of cold that seemed to seep into your bones.
"Young Master Tang, Miaoke is my best friend. There’s no need to make things this ugly, is there?" Lin Junke said, trying to mediate.
In truth, Lin Junke didn’t dare offend this Young Master Tang either. He came from a powerful background—the Tang Family of the Southern Border—and their influence was immense.
It was said the Tang Family had a history of several hundred years and had produced many great figures in the past.
At this thought, Lin Junke felt a pang of regret. ’Why did I invite Su Miaoke? I knew Young Master Tang was this kind of domineering person.’
"Lin Junke, are you telling me what to do?" Young Master Tang shot her a cold glance.
Then, he turned back to Su Miaoke. "You want to leave? Fine. Drink this bottle."
He picked up a bottle of liquor from a nearby table and set it down in front of her.
Looking at the bottle, Su Miaoke simply said, "Sorry, I don’t drink."
Having said her piece, she again pulled Chu Feng toward the door.
"If you dare take a single step out that door, the Su Family can forget about surviving in Beihai," Young Master Tang said casually, his eyes filled with cruel amusement.
"Oh dear, Young Master Tang, Miaoke is just stubborn. Let me talk to her," Lin Junke said hurriedly upon hearing his threat.
Her heart sank. She knew exactly what kind of person Young Master Tang was. If anyone dared to refuse him so openly, they were done for.
The man was absolutely ruthless.
