Chapter 26: Getting the Marriage Certificate
With that, Chu Feng turned to look at Chu Sea.
"Even if I did rent her, that’s my own business. If you’re so tough, go rent someone yourself. Just don’t find someone who’s been passed around by hundreds of men," Chu Feng said.
"Chu Feng, what the hell do you mean by that?! Are you too scared to admit what you did?" Chu Sea instantly flew into a rage after hearing Chu Feng’s words.
This wasn’t just Chu Feng talking nonsense. Through the Token given to him by the God of Wealth, he could see a dark gray aura above Chu Sea’s girlfriend’s head, and her Merit Points were negative.
-780!
Of all evils, lechery is the worst; of all virtues, filial piety is the first.
Committing the sin of depravity was an extremely serious offense.
According to the information from the Token, the woman most likely worked in the red-light district and had been with at least a hundred men.
That was why Chu Feng dared to be so blunt.
Moreover, a wisp of gray mist also swirled around Chu Sea’s head. It seemed he had also done some immoral things.
Merit Points: -180!
The moment the garish woman heard Chu Feng, she started throwing a fit.
"Chu Sea, that bastard dared to insult me! Beat him up for me!" When the garish woman heard Chu Feng’s words, a look of shock appeared on her face. It was as if her deepest secrets had been exposed, and she flew into a rage out of shame.
She even charged forward herself, about to smash her purse into Chu Feng.
However, Su Miaoke stepped up and gave her a backhanded slap.
SLAP!
The slap was incredibly loud.
It sent the garish woman stumbling into the snow, smearing much of her makeup and leaving five red finger marks on her face.
"You think you can just hit my man whenever you feel like it?" Su Miaoke said with a cold expression.
Her entire aura shifted, becoming that of a domineering CEO worth hundreds of millions.
Su Miaoke glanced at the cheap makeup powder left on the back of her hand with a look of disgust.
"Look at your face, it’s caked with makeup like a plastered wall. And you spend all day being picky about this and that. Why don’t you take a look in the mirror and see what you really look like!" Su Miaoke said icily.
Her beautiful eyes were boiling with rage. Her good mood from the morning had been completely ruined by these two idiots.
"You bitch, how dare you hit me!" The garish woman, fuming, scrambled up from the ground and charged at Su Miaoke like a madwoman.
However, Su Miaoke simply lifted one of her long legs and kicked the woman away.
"I think you’re the one who’s trash," Su Miaoke’s eyes turned glacial.
"Chu Sea! That bitch dared to hit me! Why aren’t you beating her up for me?!" the garish woman shrieked, crying on the snow-covered ground.
Seeing his girlfriend get hit, Chu Sea flew into a violent rage.
"You son of a bitch!" Chu Sea immediately swung his fist toward Su Miaoke.
But there was no way Chu Feng would let Chu Sea lay a hand on his wife.
THUD!
Chu Feng stepped forward and kicked Chu Sea to the ground. It was a powerful kick, leaving Chu Sea breathless and unable to speak for a long moment.
Even so, Chu Sea’s face was contorted with fury. He had spent a fortune to win over his girlfriend, only for Chu Feng to accuse her of being a prostitute. It was outrageous!
Plus, both he and his girlfriend had been beaten up.
At this moment, the villagers and women who had been watching the drama unfold from their doorways at the village entrance all rushed over.
"Don’t fight! You’re all from the same village." Faced with the crowd’s attempts to mediate, Chu Feng decided to let it go.
However, Chu Feng had no intention of letting their provocation slide so easily.
He directly used the Token from the God of Wealth to activate the sins the two had committed. Before long, they would both face the punishment of the heavens.
"Chu Sea, I’m warning you. If you ever dare to insult me or my wife again, it won’t end as simply as it did today," Chu Feng said coldly, staring at him.
Then, Chu Feng and Su Miaoke got straight into their car, ignoring everyone else’s opinions.
The car started and sped out of the village.
The villagers and women began chattering amongst themselves.
They had heard the whole story clearly. It was indeed Chu Sea who had been running his mouth too much.
Anyone in that situation would have probably given him a beating.
Just then, Chu Sea’s girlfriend started throwing a full-blown tantrum, writhing on the ground.
"Chu Sea, you useless piece of trash! I must have been blind to get with you! I’m leaving today! We’re breaking up!" After her crying fit, the garish woman got into the car.
"Chu Sea, you should try to control that temper of yours. And be a better judge of character in the future," a kind-hearted villager advised.
But Chu Sea wouldn’t listen. Instead, he cursed, "It’s none of your damn business!"
"Jiaojiao, wait for me!" Chu Sea chased after her, getting into the car as well.
They left the crowd of speechless onlookers behind.
"That Chu Sea is such a fool. You can tell a woman like that is bad news just by looking at her, and he still brings her home. He’s completely shamed his ancestors."
"Yeah, I don’t get him. What’s so good about a woman like that? She’s just bad luck!"
"Do you guys think Chu Feng’s girlfriend was really rented? That can’t be right, can it? Is Chu Feng that rich?"
"From what I’ve seen, that young man Chu Feng is honest and filial. I don’t think he’d do something like that."
The villagers and women continued their discussion.
At the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Chu Feng and Su Miaoke walked out hand in hand.
"I can’t believe we actually got our marriage certificate," Chu Feng sighed, feeling like none of it was quite real.
"Believe it now?" Su Miaoke said with a proud look on her face.
Chu Feng let out a long breath and nodded. He had resigned himself to his fate.
"You’d better be good to me from now on!" Su Miaoke said.
Afterward, the two of them browsed the county market and bought a large haul of New Year’s goods to take home.
After they returned home, Chu Feng’s parents arranged an engagement banquet.
After all, both families had given their approval, and they even had their marriage certificate. An engagement banquet was a natural next step.
Although Su Miaoke’s parents weren’t present, Su Linsheng supported it wholeheartedly.
After all, his daughter was finally married off.
As for their wedding, that would depend on their own plans after the New Year.
The heavy snow continued to fall, lasting all the way until the evening of New Year’s Eve.
"Pork trotters, ribs in soybean paste, cured meat, cured sausages, chicken, duck, fish, and shrimp." Su Miaoke’s eyes lit up as she looked at the spread of dishes, which was even more lavish than the first time she had visited.
Su Miaoke picked up a piece of cured meat and placed it in her mouth. Its unique, savory aroma instantly filled her mouth, overwhelming every taste bud.
"It’s so fragrant." To be honest, this was the first time Su Miaoke had ever eaten farmhouse-style cured meat.
Normally, she never touched this kind of food.
And so, the family enjoyed their harmonious New Year’s Eve dinner—a reunion feast.
This New Year was countless times warmer and more heartfelt than any in the past.
After eating and drinking their fill, the family sat in front of the TV, watching the Spring Festival Gala.
Suddenly, Chu Feng felt a piece of information appear in his mind.
